Pig Newton is a platform arcade game, which was released by Sega, in 1983; it was the last game to run on their G80 Raster hardware, and the only one to use a custom sound chip. The player must use a 4-way joystick, to take control of a tree-dwelling pig (the eponymous "Pig Newton"), who is in a fight against lumberjack wolves who are conspiring to chop down his home - and the only way he can stop them is by jumping up (by means of a button) to knock down the twenty-six apples that hang from the branches of his tree in the hopes that they will land on their heads and stun them. Occasionally, eggs will appear in the six nests, on the very ends of the branches, which Pig Newton can pick up for extra points; however, if one of the lumberjack wolves chops enough of the trunk away on his side, the tree will fall over, causing Pig Newton to drop to the ground, and lose a life. The characters also appear to be inspired by the Walt Disney Company's 1933 Silly Symphony cartoon short, The Three Little Pigs.
