Pistol Daimyo no Bouken/World 1

From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki

Welcome to the game. Once Pistol Daimyo has appeared on the screen, he will start to move forward, as seven Suzume come flying towards him at the top of and in the centre of the screen; once you have fired a small cannonball at each of them to kill them two Dokuro will come flying towards you at the top of the screen. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at both of these to kill them, four Kappa No Sara will come flying towards you at the bottom of, the top of, and in the centre of the screen - and once you've gone around all these, six Tatami Kozo will come flying towards you at the bottom of and in the centre of the screen. Once you have fired a small (or medium) cannonball at each of these to kill them nine more Suzume will come flying towards you at the bottom and top of the screen; once you have fired a small cannonball at each of these, to kill them, you will come to two Blue Kanameishi that are circling around a blue vase at the bottom of the screen. Once you have fired two medium cannonballs (or one large one) at both of these to kill them, you have to fire a medium cannonball at the vase to break it open - and once you have collected the Hanafuda card it has left behind, it will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen as seven more Suzume come flying towards you at the bottom and top of the screen. Once you have fired one small cannonball at each of these, to kill them, you'll come up to two more Blue Kanameishi that are circling around another blue vase at the top of the screen; once you have fired two medium cannonballs or one large one at both of these, to kill them, you have to fire a medium cannonball at the vase to break it open. Once you have collected the Hanafuda card it has left behind it will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen next to the first one as seven more Suzume come flying towards you in the centre of the screen - and once you've fired a small cannonball at each of these to kill them, Pistol Daimyo will stop moving forwards and the game's first boss theme will start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 as Sakura Nosuke hovers into view from the right screen side, rises into the air, and speaks the Hiragana/Katakana text Setsu shi ya Sakura Nosuke to mōsu. Chika-ra wo tameshimaseu! (せつしやサクラのすけともうす. ちからをためしませう!) to Pistol Daimyo (his Waru meter, which is comprised of 2½ Waru, will also appear in the bottom-right corner at this point). He will then hover around for a few seconds before speaking the Hiragana/Katakana text Teki ha taitei a tama gaja kutendegozaru. Botan wo o shiteki ai wo tameru nodegozaru. (てきはたいていあたまがじゃくてんでござる. ボタンをおしてきあいをためるのでござる.) to Pistol Daimyo, as a sakura tree emerges from his head; he will now hover around the screen while firing flowers from his tree at you and you cannot afford to get hit by them (given that you have only collected two Hanafuda cards). Once you have fired 96 small cannonballs, 48 medium cannonballs or 6 large cannonballs at the tree (as 16 small cannonballs, 8 medium cannonballs and 1 large cannonball will all register half a cross on his Waru meter), it will recede back into his head and any flowers that are still on the screen will explode as he descends back to the ground - and the game's "stage clear" theme will then be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for the first time as he speaks the explosive Hiragana text O migotodegozaimasu! Ki ai kki desu! (おみごとでございます! きあいっきあいです!) to Pistol Daimyo, before hovering away off the right side of the screen. Pistol Daimyo will now fly over the step in front of him and off that right side of the screen before the view returns to the overworld map; the fan that indicates his current position will now unfold over the first lantern on the top row, which represents the first stage of the game's second world (and the second stage overall): Waru Gappa no Maki, the basis of the next four stages, which features a lot of Kaeru and Gama Gaeru, and a palette-swap of the latter, the Yellow Gama Gaeru, also happens to be the boss of the next stage.
