Area 1 (Stage 6)

Once Pistol Daimyo has reappeared on the screen, he will start moving forward for the sixth time, as eight Red Ninjas come flying towards him at the top of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at each of them, to kill them, you will come to a blue vase at the bottom of the screen. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open, it will leave a Hanafuda card behind - and once you have collected it, it will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen. Six Blue Ninjas will then drop down from the top of the screen, and throw their shurikens at you once they've landed; once you have fired a small cannonball at each of them to kill them, five more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you at the top of the screen. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at them to kill them, four more Blue Ninjas will drop down from the top of the screen and throw their shurikens at you once they have landed - and once you have fired a small cannonball at each of them to kill them, a fourth Kusudama will drop down from the top of the screen of its own accord. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open before it goes back up off the top of the screen again, it will leave a suit of metal (or wooden, if you were unfortunate enough to get hit twice) armour behind; once you have put it on if you were unfortunate enough to get hit, you will come to two Blue Kanameishi that are circling around (one clockwise, the other anticlockwise) at the top of the screen. Once you have fired a large cannonball at both of them to kill them four more Blue Ninjas will drop down from the top of the screen and throw their shurikens at you once they have landed - and once you have fired a small cannonball at each of these to kill them, a Purple Ninja will drop down from the top of the screen (behind Pistol Daimyo) and throw his shuriken at him, once he has landed. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at him to kill him (it is the only way you can), twelve more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you at the top of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, two more Blue Ninjas will drop down from the top of the screen, and throw their shurikens at you once they have landed. Once you've fired a small cannonball at both of these to kill them, you will come to another blue vase, at the top of the screen - and once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open, it will leave a Hanafuda card behind. Once you have collected it, it will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen next to the first one; the first boss theme will then start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for a third time now, as Makishinji drops down from the top of the screen and speaks the Hiragana text Watashi ha tatsu maki! Maki maki maki maki Makishinji! Watashi ha tatsu maki! Maki maki maki maki maki ueda. (わたしは たつまき! まきまきまきまき まきしんじ! わたしは たつまき! まきまきまきまき まき うえだ) to Pistol Daimyo (his Waru meter, which is comprised of three Waru, will also appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen at this point). He'll then start jumping to the left before jumping up out of that protective tornado to throw shurikens at you - and once you have fired forty-eight small cannonballs, six medium cannonballs or three large cannonballs at him while he is out of the protective tornado (as eight small cannonballs and a medium cannonball will both register half a cross on that Waru meter, and a large cannonball will register a full cross on it; as with Kapa Kepe Kohoon, the medium and large cannonballs can also be fired into that tornado), the tornado will explode, and the "stage clear" theme will be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for the sixth time as he ceases spinning, faces out of the cabinet, and speaks the explosive Hiragana/Katakana text Maki maki maki maki maki fuyuki chī! Ato wo tanomu zo pōru maki i. (まきまきまきまき まきふゆきちい! あとをたのむぞ ポールまき) to Pistol Daimyo before fainting and disappearing in a puff of smoke, much like Kapa Kepe Kohoon did three stages earlier. Pistol Daimyo will then fly off the right side of the screen - and the view will now return to the overworld map as the first lantern on the central row (which represented this stage) changes colour from yellow to red, and the fan that indicates Pistol Daimyo's current position moves forward to and unfolds over the second lantern on the central row, which represents the seventh stage. And despite his external appearances being identical to those of Kapa Kepe Kohoon, Makishinji also looks like this: PD Makishinji (No Tornado).gif

Area 2 (Stage 7)

Once Pistol Daimyo has reappeared on the screen, he will start moving forward for the seventh time as a Tonbi comes jumping out of the water towards him; once you've fired a small cannonball at him to kill him, eight Red Ninjas will come flying towards you at the top of the screen. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at them to kill them, four more Tonbi will come jumping out of the water towards you - and once you have fired a small cannonball at each of them to kill them, you'll come to a blue vase at the top of the screen. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open, it will leave a Hanafuda card behind; once you've collected it, a fifth Kusudama will drop down from the top of the screen. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open (before it goes back up off the top of the screen again) it will leave a suit of metal (or wooden, if you were unfortunate enough to get hit twice) armour behind - and once you have put it on if you were unfortunate enough to get hit, you will come up to a Blue Ninja who is hiding under the surface of the water while firing shurikens into the air from his snorkel. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at him to kill him for 500 points instead of the usual 100, you'll come to a Generator that is firing shurikens at you, from its position at the top of the screen; once you've fired a medium cannonball at it to kill it eight more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you at the top of the screen. Once you have shot a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, you will come to another Blue Ninja, who is hiding under the surface of the water, while firing shurikens into the air from his snorkel - and once you have fired a medium cannonball at him to kill him, you will come up to four Bonito who are jumping out of the water before falling back into it again. Once you have fired a small cannonball at each of them to kill them, you will come to four Blue Kanameishi that are circling around (the odd-numbered ones in a clockwise direction, the even-numbered ones in an anticlockwise direction) at the top and bottom of the screen; once you've fired a large cannonball at each of them to kill them you will come to four more Generators that are firing shurikens at you from their positions in the centre of the screen. Once you have fired off a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, the second one will leave another blue vase behind - and once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open, it will leave a Hanafuda card behind. Once you have collected it, it will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen; the third boss theme will then start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for a second time here, as Mokumoku Nosuke drops down from the top of the screen and speaks that Hiragana text Ora e n maku Mokumoku Nosuke mokumokumoku. Mokumokumoku mokumokumoku. (おら えんまく もくもく のすけ もくもくもく. もくもくもく もくもくもく.) to Pistol Daimyo (his Waru meter, comprised of five Waru will also appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen at this point). He will then rise into the air and transform into four more Generators (melding himself with the eighth one in the process), which will move around the screen in a clockwise direction while firing shurikens at you - and you should move back to that left side of the screen at this point, for that is the only place the shurikens cannot hit you. Once you have fired eighty small cannonballs, ten medium ones, or five large ones at that eighth Generator (you can also fire a medium cannonball at the sixth, seventh and ninth ones to kill them for 100 extra points apiece but they will regenerate every time he goes all the way around the screen; you should also watch out for Taimappu walking into view at the bottom of that screen after taking too long), any Generators that are still on the screen will explode (Taimappu will also explode if he is on the screen), and he will speak that explosive Hiragana/Katakana text No ā ā!!! (のあああー!!!), then Nī chan! (にーちゃん!) twice, and Kataki totte kure (カタキカタキとってくれ) to Pistol Daimyo, before exploding himself. The "stage clear" theme will then be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for the seventh time, as Pistol Daimyo flies off that right side of the screen - and the view will now return to the game's overworld map, as the second lantern on the centre row (which represented this stage) changes colour from yellow to red, and the fan that indicates Pistol Daimyo's current position moves forward to and unfolds over the third lantern on the centre row, which represents the eighth stage. It is also worth noting that the technical naming for the underwater Blue Ninjas is Mizu Ton No Jutsu, written in Kanji and Hiragana as 水とんの術.

Area 3 (Stage 8)

Once Pistol Daimyo has reappeared on the screen, he will start moving forward for the eighth time as a Red Ninja comes flying towards him at the top of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at him to kill him, a Rock will come bouncing down into view, from the top of the screen. Once you have fired two medium cannonballs (or one large one) at it to kill it, you'll come to a Generator that is firing shurikens at you from its position in the centre of the screen - and once you have fired one medium cannonball at it to kill it you will come to a Bonito who is jumping out of the water before falling back into it again. Once you have fired a small cannonball at him to kill him, another Rock will come bouncing down into view, from the top of the screen; once you have fired two medium cannonballs (or one large one) at it to kill it, two more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you, at the top of the screen. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at them to kill them, a third Rock will come bouncing down into view, from the top of the screen - and once you've fired two medium cannonballs or one large one at it to kill it, a fourth Red Ninja will come flying towards you. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at him to kill him, a fourth Rock will come bouncing down into view, from the top of the screen; once you have fired two medium cannonballs or one large one at it to kill it, three more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you at the top of the screen. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, four more Rocks will come bouncing down into view from the top of the screen - and once you've fired two medium cannonballs or one large one at each of them to kill them, you'll come to another Generator that is firing shurikens at you from its position at the top of the screen. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at it to kill it, it will leave a blue vase behind; once you've fired a medium cannonball at the vase to break it open it will leave a Hanafuda card behind. Once you've collected it, it will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the first one - and you will now come to two more Bonito who are jumping out of the water before falling back into it again. Once you have fired a small cannonball at both of them, to kill them, three more Rocks will come bouncing down into view from the top of the screen; once you've fired two medium cannonballs (or one large one) at them to kill them, you will come to two Blue Ninjas (or Mizu Ton No Jutsu), who are hiding under the surface of the water while firing shurikens up into the air from their snorkels. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at both of these to kill them (again, they will both be worth 500 points instead of the usual 100), you will come to five more Generators that are firing shurikens at you from their positions in the centre of the screen - and once you have fired a medium cannonball at each of these to kill them, four more Rocks will come bouncing down into view, from the top of the screen. Once you have fired two medium cannonballs or one large one at each of them to kill them, you will come to an eighth Generator that is firing shurikens at you from its position at the top of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to kill it, it will leave a second blue vase behind. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open, it will leave a Hanafuda card behind - and once you have collected it, a sixth Kusudama will drop down from that top of the screen. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open before it goes back up off that top of the screen again, it will leave a suit of metal (or wooden, if you were unlucky enough to get hit twice) armour behind; once you've put it on if you were unlucky enough to get hit, seven more Rocks will come bouncing down into view from the top of the screen. Once you've fired two medium cannonballs or one large one at each of them, to kill them, three Yellow Nekodori will come flying towards you at the top of the screen - and once you have fired a medium cannonball at them to kill them, six more Rocks will come bouncing down into view from the top of the screen. Once you have fired two medium cannonballs or one large one at each of them to kill them, you will come to a ninth Generator that is firing shurikens at you from its position at the top of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to kill it, it will leave a third blue vase behind. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at this to break it open it will leave a Hanafuda card behind - and once you've collected it, it will be displayed in that top-right corner of the screen. Three Purple Nekodori will then come flying towards you in the centre of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, you will come to two more Generators that are firing shurikens at you from their positions at the bottom and top of the screen. Once you have fired a medium cannonball at both of these, to kill them, four more Rocks will come bouncing down into view from the top of the screen - and once you've fired two medium cannonballs (or one large one) at each of them to kill them, you will come up to three Purple Kanameishi that are hovering in place. Once you've fired three large cannonballs at each of these to kill them (they fall to the ground before rising back up into the air again every time they take a hit), the third boss theme will start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for a third time as Mokumoku Nosuke No Ototo drops down from the top of the screen and speaks that Hiragana/Katakana text O tō-tachi no kataki! Kurae! Mokumoku sūpā! (おとうたちの かたき! くらえ! もくもくスーパー!) to Pistol Daimyo (his Waru meter, which is comprised of four Waru, will also appear in that bottom-right corner of the screen at this point); he'll then rise into the air and transform into eight more Generators (melding himself with that nineteenth one in the process), which will move across the screen both horizontally and vertically while firing shurikens at you. You should move to the right side of the screen at this point, for that's the only place the shurikens can't hit you this time - and once you've fired a total of sixty-four small cannonballs, eight medium cannonballs or four large cannonballs at that nineteenth Generator (you can also fire one medium cannonball at the other seven, to kill them for 100 extra points apiece, but they will regenerate every time he goes all the way to the left or right side of the screen; you should also again watch out for Taimappu walking into view in the bottom-right corner of the screen if you take too long), any Generators that are still on the screen will explode (Taimappu will also again explode if he's still on the screen) and he'll speak the explosive Hiragana/Katakana text Do ā a! Maketāāa!!! (どあああ! マケタアアアアア!!!) to Pistol Daimyo before exploding himself. The "stage clear" theme will now be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for an eighth time as Pistol Daimyo flies away off the right side of the screen - and the view will then return to the game's overworld map, as that third lantern on the centre row (which represented this stage) changes colour from yellow to red, and the fan that indicates Pistol Daimyo's current position will move forward to and unfold over the fourth, and final, lantern on that centre row, which represents the ninth stage. This is the last stage to be set in Shuriken-dan no Maki - the next four will be set in Ayakashi no Maki.

Area 4 (Stage 9)

Once Pistol Daimyo has reappeared on the screen he'll start moving forward for a ninth time as four Red Ninjas come flying towards him at the top of the screen; once you've fired a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, a Yellow Ninja will jump into view from the right side of the screen and throw his shuriken at you. Once you have fired a small cannonball at him to kill him, three Blue Ninjas will drop down from the top of the screen and throw their shurikens at you once they've landed - and once you have fired a small cannonball at each of these to kill them, another Yellow Ninja will jump into view from the right side of the screen and throw his shuriken at you. Once you have fired a small cannonball at him to kill him, four more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you at the top of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at each of these, to kill them, two more Yellow Ninjas will jump into view from the right side of the screen and throw their shurikens at you. Once you have fired a small cannonball at both of them to kill them, a fourth Blue Ninja will drop down from the top of the screen and throw his shuriken at you once he has landed - and once you have fired a small cannonball at him to kill him, four more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you, at the top of the screen. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, a fifth Yellow Ninja will jump into view from the right side of the screen, then throw his shuriken at you; once you've fired a small cannonball at him to kill him, four more Red Ninjas will come flying towards you, at the top of the screen. Once you've fired a medium cannonball at each of these, to kill them, a Purple Ninja will drop down from the top of the screen (behind Pistol Daimyo), and throw his shuriken at him once he's landed - and once you have fired a medium cannonball at him to kill him (again, it's the only way you can), four more Blue Ninjas will drop down from the top of the screen and throw their shurikens at you once they have landed. Once you've fired a small cannonball at each of these, to kill them, a sixth Yellow Ninja will jump into view from the right side of the screen and throw his shuriken at you; once you have fired a small cannonball at him to kill him, four Black Kaeru will come bouncing towards you at the top of the screen (to create the illusion that they are standing on the wall in the background). Once you've fired a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them, you will come to two blue vases (and the second of only three yellow vases in the game) at the top of the screen - and once you've fired a medium cannonball at each of them to break them open, they will leave two Hanafuda cards (and a shot powerup) behind. Once you have collected them, a seventh Kusudama will drop down from the top of the screen; once you have fired a medium cannonball at it to break it open, before it goes back up off the top of the screen again, it'll leave a suit of metal (or wooden, if you were unlucky enough to get hit twice), armour behind. Once you have put it on if you were unlucky enough to be hit two more Yellow Ninjas will jump into view from the right side of the screen and throw their shurikens at you - and once you have fired a small cannonball at each of these to kill them, you will come to the unique Karakuri Cannon that is firing projectiles at you. Once you have fired a large cannonball on top of it to kill it five more Purple Ninjas will drop down from the top of the screen (behind Pistol Daimyo) and throw their shurikens at him once they have landed; once you have fired a medium cannonball at each of them to kill them (once again, it is the only way you can), two more Black Kaeru will come bouncing towards you at the top of the screen (again, to create that illusion they are standing on the wall in the background). Once you have fired off a medium cannonball at both of them to kill them the first boss theme will start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for a fourth time as Shuriken-dan No Dancho jumps into view from the right side of the screen and speaks the Hiragana text Shuriken! (しゅりけん!) twice, then Shuri (しゅりっ) twice, and Shurishuri (しゅりっしゅりっ) to Pistol Daimyo (his Waru meter, which is comprised of five Waru, will also appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen at this point) - and he'll then throw the shuriken on his head at you, and instantly grow a replacement one, before jumping towards you. Once you have fired eighty small cannonballs, ten medium ones or five large ones at him (the balls will also spring him into the air; you will also have to watch out for purple shurikens emerging from the ground in groups of four and five during this fight), any shurikens upon the screen will explode, and the "stage clear" theme will be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 for a ninth time as he falls off the bottom of the screen while speaking the explosive Hiragana text Shurīī shuri!! (しゅりいいい しゅりっ!!), to Pistol Daimyo, who will fly off that right side of the screen. The view will now return to the overworld map as the fourth and final lantern on the centre row (which had represented this stage) changes its colour from yellow to red, and the fan which indicates Pistol Daimyo's current position moves forward to and unfolds over the first lantern on that bottom row, which represents the first area of this game's fourth world (and the tenth stage overall) - Ayakashi no Maki. This is also the last row of four lanterns that you will have to clear in the game.
