Driftveil City is a busy port town, with many important locations for your quest. As you enter the city, you see Cheren, and Clay, the city's Gym Leader. He asks you to find two Team Plasma Grunts that escaped.

New Battle Style

This section is optional.
Charles can be found riding his motorbike in the west of the city. He learned a new battle style to get the attention of a girl he liked. In Black version he will challenge you to a Rotation Battle, whereas in White version he will challenge you to a Triple Battle. This is the first time you can try the new battle style, but definitely not the last.

  • Motorcyclist Charles
    • Zebstrika (Lv. 27, Electric) Shock Wave, Spark, Pursuit, Flame Charge
    • Krokorok (Lv. 27, Ground/Dark) Mud-Slap, Embargo, Swagger, Assurance
    • Basculin (Lv. 27, Water) Chip Away, Take Down, Crunch, Aqua Jet
    • Pokebuck.png 864

Driftveil Market

You can buy some items here; Moomoo Milk for Pokebuck.png 500 each or in bulk, and some herbs which will heal your Pokemon, but make them less happy because of their bitter taste.

Cold Storage

Cold Storage is the backbone of Driftveil City's industrialised economy, where goods are stored. Wild Pokemon can be found outside of the refrigerative chamber, as well as a vending machine.

  • Herdier (Lv. 21-23/25-27 in dark grass)
  • Vanillite (Lv. 20-23/24-27 in dark grass)
  • Timburr (Lv. 21-22/25-26 in dark grass)
  • Minccino (Lv. 20/24 in dark grass)
  • Youngster Kenneth
    • Whirlipede (Lv. 24)
    • Karrablast (Lv. 24)

    • Timburr (Lv. 24)
    • Pokebuck.png 960

It seems a few Team Plasma Grunts went into the refrigerative chamber. Follow Cheren in. The main Cold Storage area is full of 'sliding ice' puzzles, with many workers to battle.

  • Worker Victor
    • Pansear (Lv. 24)
    • Timburr (Lv. 24)
    • Pokebuck.png 960
  • Worker Glenn
    • Panpour (Lv. 24)
    • Timburr (Lv. 24)
    • Pokebuck.png 960
  • Worker Filipe
    • Gurdurr (Lv. 25)
    • Pokebuck.png 1,000
  • Worker Patton
    • Vanillite (Lv. 24)
    • Timburr (Lv. 24)
    • Pokebuck.png 960

    • Timburr (Lv. 23)
    • Vanillite (Lv. 23)
    • Pokebuck.png 920

--- Inside an open container in the north west is Zinzolin, one of the Seven Sages, who is trying to keep warm, with eight Grunts around him. He commands you and Cheren to battle four Grunts each:

  • Team Plasma Grunt
    • Watchog (Lv. 23)
    • Scraggy (Lv. 23)
    • Pokebuck.png 920
  • Team Plasma Grunt
    • Liepard (Lv. 24)
    • Pokebuck.png 960
  • Team Plasma Grunt
    • Trubbish (Lv. 24)

  • Team Plasma Grunt
    • Sandile (Lv. 23)
    • Watchog (Lv. 23)
    • Pokebuck.png 920

Afterwards, Clay and some workers will arrive to remove the Team Plasma people. After this scene, pick up the NeverMeltIce in the corner, and go back to Driftveil.

Driftveil Gym

Driftveil City's Gym specialises in Ground-type Pokemon, therefore Water-, Grass- and Ice-type moves are good choice. The puzzle is based around elevators which you can take up or down to battle trainers.

  • Worker Felix
    • Palpitoad (Lv. 28)
    • Drilbur (Lv. 28)
    • Pokebuck.png 1,120
  • Worker Sterling
    • Sandile (Lv. 28)
    • Drilbur (Lv. 28)
    • Pokebuck.png 1,120

    • Krokorok (Lv. 29)
    • Pokebuck.png 1,160
  • Clerk Isaac
    • Sandile (Lv. 27)
    • Palpitoad (Lv. 27)
    • Sandile (Lv. 27)
    • Pokebuck.png 1,080
  • Clerk Katie
    • Drilbur (Lv. 29)
    • Pokebuck.png 1,160
  • Leader Clay
    • Krokorok (Lv. 29, Ground/Dark) Swagger, Crunch, Torment, Bulldoze
    • Palpitoad (Lv. 29, Water/Ground) Aqua Ring, BubbleBeam, Bulldoze, Muddy Water
    • Excadrill (Lv. 31, Ground/Steel) Rock Slide, Bulldoze, Hone Claws, Slash
    • Pokebuck.png 3,720

Clay's lineup can be quite tough, with high attack and defense on their side, but rather low speed (except for Excadrill, which is quite fast). He leads with his Krokorok, which is also weak to Fighting-type attacks, then Palpitoad, which has no weaknesses besides 4x to Grass. Finally, his Excadrill joins in the fight, which can become extremely powerful using Hone Claws. Don't use Grass-, or Ice-type Pokemon for Excadrill, but choose Water-, Fire-, Fighting-, or even Ground-type moves themselves for super effective attacks. Once you defeat Clay, he awards you the Quake Badge, but so far, no TM! He tells you to meet him at the end of Route 6.

Rival Battle: Bianca

After healing, leave for Route 6. Bianca will stop you, saying that while she hasn't yet earned the Quake Badge, she's happy to challenge you to a battle.

  • PKMN Trainer Bianca
    • Herdier (Lv. 26, Normal) Helping Hand, Take Down, Work Up, Crunch

    • If you chose Oshawott

    • Pansage (Lv. 26, Grass) Leech Seed, Bite, Torment, Seed Bomb
    • Pokebuck.png 2,800

Afterwards, she will give you HM02 (Fly), which lets you to fly to any town you've visited before. Now, heal up, then head onto Route 6!
