Oreburgh Mine is where the city gets all of its resources. Roark is in charge of it to make sure that all the Pokémon living in here are safe

This floor is pretty self explanatory and all you need to do is walk around to the other side and go to B2F. It has no trainers, an Onix to catch and an X-Defend or a Poké Ball in Platinum.

There is one worker you can fight right away and he's below the machop and one worker when you go right.

Keep following this path and you will eventually see Roark who you need to talk to so he can go back to the gym.

After Roark leaves keep going left and another worker will want to fight you. When done head back out and go to the Oreburgh Gym to challenge Roark

New Pokémon

#95 Onix
Pokemon 095Onix.png

Onix is the second Rock type Pokemon you encounter in the game following the Geodudes you ran into in Oreburgh Gate. Although not as well rounded as a fully evolved Golem, Onix's Defense stat is unmatched. In addition, he receives Dragon Breath at level 33 and Iron Tail at level 38, making him help against Dragon types early on

However, be sure to remember that Onix's Rock/Ground types make it extremely weak against Water and Grass Pokemon. Onix will evolve into Steelix when traded holding a Metal Coat. This cannot happen until beating the Elite Four and obtaining the National Dex however.
