Standard powerups
For every third enemy that you kill in the game (whether by attacking them when creating a rainbow, or crushing them with a falling rainbow) you will earn one powerup. The powerups cycle through a fixed order of seven powerups, followed by an eighth special powerup. All of the possible special powerups are listed in the next section. After the special powerup appears, the standard powerups will start over from the beginning.

Special Powerups
Rings
Rings give you the ability to earn extra points at the end of a level for various actions. Each Ring is worth 1000 points.

Tiaras
The tiaras provide different methods of killing enemies with stars. The blue tiara is worth 1000 points, the green tiara is worth 2000 points, and the blue tiara is worth 3000 points.
Lamps
Each lamp has a different effect on gameplay. They are each worth 2000 points.
Cane
If you manage to collect 7 small diamonds of a specific color, you will earn the chance to collect that color cane. Collecting a cane makes rainbows generate a particular item when you crush them. It lasts for nine rainbows. Each cane is worth 500 points.

Bottle
If you manage to collect 2 instances of the same color cane, you will earn the chance to collect that color bottle. Collecting a bottle makes a large instance of food appear from the treasure chest at the end of a level. That large food will be worth 100,000 points. Note that if you collect all seven small diamonds and a bottle on the fourth and final stage of an island, you will receive the large diamond for that island instead of the large version of food.

Sceptre
Collecting a sceptre will give you access to one of the game's six hints. Which hint you get depends upon when you collect the sceptre. Each sceptre is worth 2000 points.
Rare items
World end items
When you defeat a boss, you will either obtain a large piece of food if you have not collected all of the small diamonds, or you will receive a big diamond if you have collected all 7 small diamonds.

Additionally, if you manage to collect all 7 large diamonds, you will go through three more islands. If you collect all of the small diamonds in those worlds and defeat the boss, you will proceed to obtain more secret items:

Secret room items
In addition to obtaining a big diamond by collecting all seven small diamonds before you defeat the island boss, it is possible to create a door to a secret room, but only if you manage to collect all seven small diamonds in precise order (either from red to violet, or from violet to red.) If you manage to do this, a door like the one shown to the right will appear when the boss fight begins. You may enter the door at any time, permitting you to bypass the boss battle entirely, collect the contents of the room, and advance to the next world. In each room, you can also obtain a code which, when entered at the start of the game, either provides you with a permanent effect, or allows you to read one of the game's hints.
