RV1 Ridge Racer (Short).png

The initial amount of time you shall start out with on this track depends on what the arcade operator has set the "Difficulty" setting in the options menu to:

Difficulty Time
A 59 seconds
B 58 seconds
C 57 seconds
D 55 seconds
E 54 seconds
F 52 seconds
G 51 seconds
H 50 seconds

Once the screen has faded into a shot of the starting line, the numbers "3", "2" and "1" will appear in the centre of the screen; the text "START" will then appear in the centre of the screen, and you will have to step on the gas pedal to accelerate your car, then turn to the left as you pass ten barriers on the right side of the track, then pass under a black helicopter. You will then pass under a bridge with an electronic sign which is displaying the text "CHECK POINT" on it along with another black helicopter and a giant television which is displaying the game of Mappy (1983) upon its screen - and you will now have to turn to the right as you pass another sign which has an arrow pointing to the curved right on it and drive into a tunnel. You will then have to turn to the right again as you pass ten more barriers with a "no entry" sign behind them upon the right side of the track (for the first two titles, there were two trucks with electronic signs on them here), along with a second regular sign which has another arrow pointing to the curved right on it on the left side of the track; you will then come out of the tunnel, and pass seventeen chevrons (which are pointing to the right) and a billboard for the Namco System 22 board (on which this game runs) on the left side of the track, then pass under a third black helicopter and pass a second billboard for Tekken (1994) on the left side of the track. You then have to turn to the left as you pass a third sign which has an arrow pointing to the curved left on it on the right side of the track, then pass over a suspension bridge and turn to the left again as you pass a fourth sign with a second arrow pointing to the curved left on it on the right side of the track - and you'll then have to turn to the right as you pass four lampposts (the third of which has a fifth sign which has a third arrow pointing to the curved right on it), a third billboard for Ace Driver (1994), and a sixth sign with a fourth arrow pointing to the curved right on it, on the left side of the track. You'll then pass a fourth billboard for Air Combat 22 (1995), on the left side of the track, along with fifteen palm trees on both sides of the track, and ten restaurants (one of which now has the name "Dig Dug") on the right side of the track; you'll then have to turn to the left as you pass a fifth billboard for Gun Bullet (1994) and twenty-five more chevrons (which are pointing to the left) on the right side of the track then pass under another bridge with another electronic sign which is displaying the text "CHECK POINT" on it. You will then pass under a third bridge with a third electronic sign that is displaying that text "TIME EXTENDED" on it, then pass a sixth billboard for Alpine Racer (1994), and a seventh regular (but red) sign that has a fifth arrow pointing to the curved right on it, on that right side of the track - and you then have to turn to the right as you pass twenty-five more chevrons (which are, again, pointing to the right) on the left side of the track. You'll then have to turn to the left (as you pass under a fourth black helicopter), then pass an eighth (back to blue) sign that has a third arrow pointing to the curved left on it, on the left side of the track; you will then pass four buildings (in the first two titles, there were three gas stations here), along with four more billboards for Cyber Commando (1994), a dinosaur that Namco broadcast on TVCM in 1986, Attack of the Zolgear (1994) and Cyber Cycles (1995) on both sides of the track. You'll then have to turn to the left, as you pass a ninth sign which has a fourth arrow pointing to the curved left on it on the left side of the track, as you drive into another tunnel - and once you've come out of it you'll pass a tenth (white) sign which has a red arrow pointing to the right on it on the left side of the track. You then have to turn to the right as you pass an eleventh (back to blue) sign which has a sixth arrow pointing to the curved right upon it, along with thirty-seven more chevrons (which are, once again, pointing to the right) and five more barriers on the left side of the track; you then have to turn to the right again as you pass under a twelfth sign which has a seventh arrow pointing to the curved right on it. You'll then pass under a fifth black helicopter and ten more barriers on the left side of the track, then pass under that aforementioned first bridge, to complete a full lap of the track - and a fourth electronic sign that has appeared under the aforementioned giant television will now display the text "TIME EXTENDED" as you pass under it. Once you have completed three laps of the track by default (the arcade operator can set the required number of laps to be as high as six in this game, and for that final one, the aforementioned electronic sign on the aforementioned first bridge will display "FINISH" instead of "CHECK POINT"), the screen shall fade out, then fade back in to a cutscene of your car driving around the track for an additional time; the camera will then cut to a shot of that aforementioned giant television above the first tunnel, displaying the text of "RESULT" on the left side of its screen, with your race position (from 1st to 12th) under it, along with your lap times upon its right side and your total time at its bottom. Once it fades out, the screen shall fade back in to a shot of all eleven of the cars lined up on a beach, in position order - and the text "GAME OVER" will then appear on the screen. If your total time was less than 2'45"765, the game will go into "track record" mode, so you should enter your initials for this track's listing upon the "track record" table with pride; once you do so, the game will go back into attract mode.
