Capturing Xavi Castle (ザビー城攻略戦) is the name given to the battle that takes place in the territory of Xavi. Xavi is a missionary who seeks to spread his own personal belief system, "Xavism," across Japan. He does so by force, as his many admiring followers double as his loyal army. He also has numerous technological weapons at his disposal, such as the giant walking mechanism also employed by Motochika Chosokabe and robots that resemble Xavi himself, in both appearance and battle style. The many gates and obstacles in Xavi's territory may make this stage feel more like a gauntlet than a battlefield.

Strategy[edit]

Head up the stairs to find the first squad leader, who should drop the first tamatebako upon defeat. Proceed to the next area to be locked in with a number of squad leaders. Defeat them all to gain entry to the next area. What follows is a passage, where another squad leader that drops a tamatebako can be found. This leads into the next area, where you can defeat a squad leader for the third tamatebako. Approach the gate to battle a mini-boss: robot Xavi. This robot can be infuriating to deal with, as it has the qualities of a regular boss (constant dodging and blocking) and is capable of dealing considerable damage. However, defense-wise it is much weaker, and can be defeated relatively quickly once you are able to begin a combo. Feel free to use your Basara attack to defeat it if necessary, as it drops health and Basara upon defeat.

Once the robot is defeated, proceed past the newly-opened gate into the next area, which is something of an obstacle course. Spinning blades and bomb soldiers attempt to impede your progress; rush past them in order to avoid taking any additional damage, jumping to avoid the explosions if necessary, and defeat the squad leader behind these obstacles for a tamatebako. Up some stairs in the corner are some crates holding health and Basara, so use these to replenish either if needed.

The passage leading to the next room is split into two paths, and more blades can be found on the walls. Stay close to the wall opposite them to avoid running into them mid-combo, and run past the slow hammer soldiers if you don't feel like dealing with them. At the end of this passage is a squad leader that drops a tamatebako and the entrance to the next room, a large, open area where you will encounter another mini-boss.

Use your Basara attacks near the legs of this walking mechanism, defeating the squad leaders around the area to restore health and Basara if necessary. Defeat it to unlock the gate blocking the path leading forward, as well as a gate blocking a hidden room to the south of the map, where some tamatebako can be found in crates (alongside numerous restorative items).

Proceed up the stairs and defeat the ninja squad leader in the next room for another tamatebako, as well as the squad leader in the next area (by the waterfall) for another. In the final room before the boss arena, two more Xavi-bots stand guard. Use your Basara attack when both are near, as the health and Basara that they both drop upon defeat should be sufficient in preparing for the final boss. Once the final gate is opened, proceed to fight Xavi.

Boss: Xavi[edit]

Xavi's offense is nothing if not innovative, as he not only shoots cannons your way, but rolls through the air in a fiery spiral, attempting to tackle you to the ground. To make matters worse, he is accompanied by Xavi-bots that continuously respawn, as well as some squad leaders. Use your Basara attack when Xavi is close to his robots in order to defeat the latter, allowing you to restore health and Basara using the restorative items that they drop. If you need an escape from Xavi and his robot companions, run to the opposite side of the arena (Xavi is slow enough that it should take him some time to reach you) and defeat any foot soldiers or squad leaders that you find there. They can easily be caught in a combo, allowing you to restore Basara. Defeat Xavi to claim his territory.
