Ranmaru Mori (Hornet in Devil Kings) is a young boy who fights for Nobunaga Oda, willing to do all he can to impress his master. Nouhime, the wife of Nobunaga, seems to be especially fond of him, as she appears distraught if he is defeated on the battlefield. He acts as the first line of defense for Nobunaga's castle, commanding the bowmen of the Oda army.

Ranmaru is the fastest character on foot; his speed is comparable to Itsuki after she has thrown her hammer, making him the most nimble of the game's playable characters. His small size and impressive range provided by his bow make him an especially tricky target, though his arrows don't reach as far as Nouhime's bullets. His HP, however, is lacking, making him a difficult character to use when dealing with close combat on higher difficulties. Ranmaru must distance himself from stronger enemies, utilizing ranged attacks until his Basara gauge is full; his Basara attack does considerable damage to even the strongest bosses when close.

While Ranmaru's normal attacks are fast, they may leave him vulnerable; this is where skills such as his second and third come in handy. Cloudburst can be useful when dealing with crowds, a capability which his first skill lacks. Heavy Thunder can attack bombers in the air, stationary shielded enemies, giants that swing poles, and even horsemen before they can notice Ranmaru. However, due to its charge time and the distance at which the lightning strikes, it is best used on the aforementioned enemies and others that are slow-moving. A potential combo that is helpful against bosses, albeit risky, is a -string of three, followed by Heavy Thunder into a wall.
