—Yoshihiro Shimazu pre-battle
Yoshihiro Shimazu is a character who has appeared in the first installment of the franchise and has been with it ever since. He is short but possesses incredible strength, earning him the nickname "Shimazu the Beast". At the beginning of Samurai Heroes, Yoshihiro contemplates whether he should help the "younger generations" (Ieyasu Tokugawa, leader of the Eastern Army, and Mitsunari Ishida of the West). He is ultimately impressed by Mitsunari in battle and joins the Western forces. He has a rivalry with Ieyasu's vassal, Tadakatsu Honda, and while Yoshihiro has a love for fighting, he's even more enthusiastic about it when Tadakatsu is on the opposing side.
