Shinsenden (神仙伝?) is an RPG developed by Tamtex for the Famicom and published in Japan by Irem in 1989. The title comes from the Shinsenden, a holy book of the Taoism religion. The game features an Eastern mysticism setting with monks and creatures from Chinese/Japanese folklore. The story of the game concerns a monk and his partner, Raichi, who set about restoring the hearts of three kings who have been tainted by a great evil who is seeking four swords that will help him take over the world.

The game is a traditional Japanese RPG with a turn-based combat system and equipment management, very similar in composition to early Dragon Quest titles. The game is broken up into four chapters, and the player's party switches around every chapter, as various members join or leave throughout the story. While the game was never officially localized it did receive a fan translation in 2009, which can be found here.
