You will first have to connect your Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, or Commodore Amiga (and cassette recorder, for all except the Commodore Amiga version) to your television set, then switch all (or both) of them on; you will now have to place the cassette (or disk, in the case of the Commodore Amiga version) of Alternative Software's Enigma Variations-developed (and PeakStar Software-redeveloped in the case of the Commodore Amiga version) 1989 platform game of Sooty and Sweep into the cassette recorder (or, the console itself, in the case of the Commodore Amiga version), type LOAD "" (without leaving a space between the quotation marks), and press Enter to load the program into the console. For the ZX, CPC and C64 versions, you will now have to press 1 or 2 to begin a one- or two-player game then press 1, 2, or 3 to select keyboard, Kempston joystick or Sinclair joystick control, and press 1 or 2 again to select "easy" or "hard" difficulty - and for the Amiga version, you will have to use the up and down arrow keys to select "SOOTY AND SWEEP" itself or "SNAP" (which is exclusive to that version) and press Space to confirm your choice. If you select the former, you will now again have to use the up and down arrow keys to select either "ONE PLAYER" or "TWO PLAYER" and again press Space to confirm your choice; you will now once again have to use your up and down arrow keys, to select "MUSIC" or "EFFECTS" (the "music" being a remix of the Sooty Show theme by Ray Norrish), and once again press Space to confirm your choice, and yet again use the up and down arrow keys to select "EASY" or "HARD" difficulty and yet again press Space to confirm your choice. The game will then start - and for the ZX, CPC and C64 versions, you will have ten minutes to recover all the bones and give them to Soo (between you if it's a 2-player game), but only seven minutes for the Amiga version. If you are an Amiga player, you will have to ignore the link to the ZX, CPC and C64 versions' page in the Footer Nav at the bottom of the page and click here instead; that version also features cameos by Thomas the Tank Engine who himself was the subject of an Alternative Software game in 1990, and Raphael (red mask and sai) from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who themselves were the subject of two Konami Industry Co. games in 1989 and 1991.
