Space, the standard format in any case, commences with a 24 hr notice of the galaxy starting.

You should:

  1. queue up planet bulding on your home world,
  2. queue up your ships to visit nearby lit up non-colonised worlds. (Called Greys in-game)
  3. change research from that set as your level 5 strength (such as Oomari who have Engine tech researching) to an economic research type.
  4. take note of when your ships arrive at your 3 destinations
  5. DO NOT BUILD ANY SHIPS - it is a waste of resources at this stage.
  6. The goal is economic development and population growth. You have the choice of a balanced economy (equal ore/production) or to sell excess ore/prod to gain that which you lack via the Toag Market. Plan your buildings on your HW accordingly.
  7. if possible, be on line at the time your first ships arrive (either 3 ticks or 2 ticks from the galaxy starting) - colonise 1 or 2 of the best habitability planets. If less than 60% perhaps wait for the 4th planet to be uncovered.
  8. colonise and re-fresh map to see further planets revealed.

If you find a neighbour (yellow planet) select the planet, find their name/number/alliance name, and send an offer of a NAP to them. It is very helpful to join up with opposite habitability species and swap planets to every one's advantage.

Communication, economic development and population/building growth is the goal of the first stage.

Second stage is preparing a taker fleet to take out inactive planets or abandoned systems with some defences in place.

Third stage is combat with nearby alliances or solitary planets.
