Splatoon 3's settings tab in game

Controls in Splatoon 3 are separated into different categories. Those being joystick, motion, and universal controls.

Joystick controls[edit]

Joystick controls utilise both joysticks on the joy-cons (or Pro controller depending on what you are using). The layout for these controllers are the left stick to move and right stick to aim. Up/down and left/right can be inverted if need be.

Motion controls[edit]

Motion controls are almost the same as joystick controls.

Left stick to move but right stick will only control left and right aiming. To aim up and down you need to tilt the controller up or down. Tilting the controller up will move the camera up and tilting down will turn the camera down. apart from aiming, the rest of the controls are the exact same.

If the camera drifts too far and you want to re-centre the player to the controller, all you have to do is press the Y button and it will centre. This works almost everywhere in game. Some places being in battles and in the main city area of the game.

Universal controls[edit]

Universal controls will refer to controls that both Motion controls and Joystick controls will use.
