One of the many things you can do in Spore's space stage is go treasure hunting. The many rare objects in Spore can be sold for a large amount of sporebucks. Even better is if you collect a whole set of items, you can sell them for a huge amount of money. As well as rare objects, you can also look for rare formations and rare planets throughout the galaxy. For every rare thing you find, it is logged and recorded in your 'My Collection' panel.

Rare Objects[edit]

Each rare object can be abducted and placed in your cargo hold. Be careful though, if you abduct an object from a claimed planet, the empire will be unhappy with you. Collecting the whole set of a collection allows you to trade the whole collection for value of ten times the sum of their individual price.

Storybook Planets[edit]

Storybook planets are planets that look like something out of a work of fantasy rather than a real-life planet. They each have a particular look. There are ten storybook planets in total. Unlike rare objects, only one of each exists in the galaxy.

  • Crab Legs- A planet that looks like a giant crab.
  • Craters- A planet that's been overbombarded with craters.
  • Dill Pickles- A planet with a pickle-shaped rock.
  • Gears n Cogs- A planet with gear-shaped landmasses.
  • Marshmallows- A planet with marshmallow-shaped formations.
  • Pastry- A planet with croissant-shaped valleys and mountains.
  • Pineapple- A planet with pineapple-shaped rocks and landmasses.
  • Rattlesnake- A planet with mountains ranges circling it.
  • Rock Stack- A planet with lots of rocks.
  • Tentacles- A planet with tentacle-shaped mountains circling it.

Galactic Objects[edit]

These objects aren't found on planets but rather in solar systems. Most of these are simply two stars orbiting each other.

  • Binary OO
  • Binary OG
  • Binary OM
  • Binary GG
  • Binary GM
  • Binary MM

In each of the cases, the M refers to a red dwarf, the G refers to a yellow star and the O refers to a blue giant. Another object is the Proto-Planetary Disk, a star that is yet to form. You can see them in galactic view but need to fly in close to officially discover them. Black Holes should be taken note of. A Wormhole Key will allow your spaceship to enter a black-hole and come out at a predetermined location. It can be used to travel long distances fast without losing any energy.

The penultimate galactic object is the core itself. To enter it, you'll need to get past the Grox blockade surrounding it, either through diplomacy, war or a mad dash. Get to the core then scroll in to get the final object 'Talked to Steve'. 'Finding' this object grants you the staff of life, a unique tool that'll instantly terraform a planet.
