In this stage, you control a group of your creations. The tribal stage plays like a RTS game. You gather resources and deal with rival tribes.

Clothing Editor

See Spore/Clothing Creator

You're no longer evolving your creatures but that doesn't mean you can't customise them. The clothing editor can be accessed from there. Clothes are divided into hats, masks, shoulders, chests, details and symbols. They can also increase one of four ratings; gathering, combat, social and health. Like the parts of the creature creator, the parts to the right of your initial options are essentially better versions of them. However, unlike the creature creator, you can acess the clothing creator in the civilization and space stage.

Your Village

Your main area is no longer a nest but a village. It consists of several areas.

Chief's Hut

Your chief's hut is the heart of the tribe. From there you can do several things.

  • Access the tribe planner. From there you can purchase huts and design clothes.
  • Create clothes. Create your own clothes for your creatures to wear.
  • Add tribe members. Click on the add baby button to add a tribe member. An egg rolls out of the tent and after 30 second grows into an adult.

The hut also upgrades in health as you conquer or ally with tribes.

  • Start: 500 points
  • Level 2: 750 points
  • Level 4: 1000 points

Fire Pit

The center of the tribe. Click on it with tribe members selected and they'll dance around it.

Tribal Totem

The tribe totem acts as how far your tribe has come. Whenever you ally with or defeat another tribe, you add a head to the totem. When you have five of them, then you evolve to the civilization stage.

Food Mat

Where all your food is deposited. Try to keep the mat full as food is required for so many things.

Huts and Tools

To add extra huts to your village, enter the tribe planner. From there you can choose any unlocked huts to add. There are nine huts to unlock. Also note that you can only have six at a time in your village. Each hut houses a specific tool. To equip tribe members, select the desired member and click on the hut. The member walks to the hut and is now equiped.

Musical Instruments

There are three musical instruments that you can unlock.

  • Wooden Horns
  • Maracas
  • Didgeridoos

They all function the same.

Weapons

Weapons are for tribes that like to conquer other tribes.

  • Stone Axes. Stone axes work well against other creatures
  • Flaming Torches. Flaming torches work well if you attack the hut rather than the creatures.
  • Throwing Spears. Spears are thrown and are best used from a distance.

If you want to conquer the other tribes, you should use a mix of all three weapons.

Food and Healing

There are two main gathering tools in the tribe stage as well as a healing tool.

  • Fishing Spears. All creatures can use the fishing spears. To use them, equip some members then click on an area near the sea to start fishing. Herbivores can also fish although they take back seaweed instead of fish. After you've fished, go back to the tribe as overfishing can deplete the source severly.
  • Gathering Canes. Gathering canes allow herbivores and omnivores to gather fruit more effectively. Carnivores cannot unlock this tool as its unneccasary for them. Herbivores however, should definitely use this tool as fruit is the only food source unless you fish for seaweed.
  • Healing Rods. Tribe members can be equiped with this tool. In battle, shamans use this tool to heal other tribe members.

Unlocking Huts

You can unlock each hut by going to other tribes and conquering them with violence or music. The order in which you unlock huts depends on how you played in the previous two stages. The following table depicts what tools you have and what tribes will unlock which buildings.

Tribe Carnivore Herbivore Omnivore
Your Tribe Stone Axes, Digeridoos Torches, Maracas Throwing Spears, Horns
Tribe 1 Fishing Spears, Horns Gathering Canes, Digeridoos Fishing Spears, Maracas
Tribe 2 Throwing Spears Throwing Spears, Horns Gathering Canes, Healing Rods, Digeridoos
Tribe 3 Flaming Torches, Maracas Fishing Spears, Healing Rods Flaming Torches
Tribe 4 Healing Rods Stone Axes Stone Axes

Food

Eggs

Tame a wild animal and you'll get eggs to feed your tribe with. All creatures can eat eggs.

Fish

All creatures can go fishing with fishing spears. Carnivores and omnivores bring back fish but herbivores bring back seaweed.

Fruit

Herbivroes and omnivores can eat fruit. Fruit grows on bushes and trees.

Meat

Omnivores and carnivores can hunt meat. When hunting, try to maximise your health as well as your combat rating.

Using Food

You can use food for several purposes. In a way, food acts as the 'currency' of this stage.

  • Eating. The most obvious of the choice
  • Feeding wild animals. If you've tamed a wild animal, you'll have to feed it.
  • Gifts. Giving another tribe an offering of food.
  • Tents. Somehow, food pays for the tents that you buy for the tribe.
  • Babies. Each baby costs 10 food points

Other Tribes

Combat

If you want to be the dominant species and aren't the friendly type. Combat is your option. Equip your tribe with weapons and healing rods and head out to the nearest village. You can attack both creatures and buildings. There are two ways to attack other villages.

  • Attack the members. Make sure you've got the maximum number of tribe members to do this then overrun them. After you've defeated them. Destroy the main hut and you're done.
  • Attack the building. Ignore the other tribe members and attack the main hut. Make sure your tribe is equiped with flaming torches.

Socialising

There are several ways to socialise.

  • Gifts. Send your tribe over to another tribe with gifts of food.
  • Socialise. Your tribe members can socialise with other villagers just like in the creature stage.
  • Music. If you want to win them over you'll need to play music to the other tribes. Send a group over with all three instruments if you can and start playing, the tribe will most likely want to hear another instrument. When a speech bubble appears with a specific instrument, select one member to play it. After the recital, the tribe will rate you. The more they like it, the easier it gets to ally them.

Consequences

You will have two abilities in the tribe stage depending on how you played in the other stages.

Cell Stage

  • Traps. If you played as a carnivore, then your chief can set up traps to ensnare wild animals
  • Flying Fish. If you were an omnivore, then you can summon a sea monster to dive into the water, spraying fish out everywhere.
  • Refreshing Storm. If your creature was a herbivore, then you can create a storm which causes fruit to drop everywhere.

Creature Stage

  • Firebombs. If you were a predator in the creature stage, then you can throw some bombs. This means that you can damage rivals around your cheif as well as buildings.
  • Fireworks. If you played socially, you can use fireworks to impress other tribes as well as your instruments.
  • Beastmaster. If you were adaptable, then you can enchant nearby animals to follow your cheif and help in combat and socialisation.

Civilization Stage

How you played in this stage affects what type of cities you'll build in the next.

  • Aggressive tribes become Militaristic
  • Industrious tribes become Economic
  • Friendly tribes become Religious
