Map of the Sandral estate
Sandral-Matale Feud (38:27)

After completing your Jedi Trials and being ordered by Master Vandar Tokare of the Jedi Council to investigate some strange Ruins on Dantooine, Ahlan Matale bursts into the Council chambers to speak with them before you can leave:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I demand justice! The Sandral family is a blight upon Dantooine! They must be punished!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: The Council will look into this matter, Mr. Matale. You must be patient. Your accusations have no proof, and we do not want you stirring up trouble with the Sandrals if there is some mistake.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Mistake? My son Shen is missing! How can there be any doubt the Sandrals are to blame?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: There are other possible explanations for your son's disappearance.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Bah! You Jedi are good for nothing but talk! I shall only wait so long before I take action on my own!

He leaves.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: As dangerous as the threat from Darth Malak and the Sith may be, we Jedi cannot simply abandon our other responsibilities. The Council has promised Alhan Matale we will look into his son's disappearance. Should you have time, Padawan, you may want to investigate this matter.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Is there anything else I should know?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: These two families have been settled here for some years now...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: And causing me no end of trouble!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Indeed. They have been settled here for some time and feuding ever since.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What caused this feud?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: I do not know how the original feud started, but they want nothing to do with each other. As you may have heard, Ahlan Matale believes that his son, Shen, has been kidnapped by Nurik Sandral.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Dorak: Curiously, Nurik's son Casus has been missing for some time as well... I fear Nurik may suspect Ahlan in this...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Is there anything else you wish to know?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Which families are involved?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: The Sandral and Matale families are involved. The Sandrals live far to the south. The head of that family is Nurik Sandral. He is a stern man, but I believe him fair. Under the present circumstances, though... who knows? Ahlan Matale can be much more unstable. He is convinced of his own importance and can be a most... oppressive individual at times. He lives closer to the enclave, but still to the south.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Where are they settled?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Both families are settled to the south of this enclave. The Matales are the closer of the two. Both have similar estates, but Ahlan is much more paranoid about his and guards it quite heavily.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I shall look into it at once. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I shall investigate this immediately. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. I will investigate if there is time. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. But what about my Jedi training? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I have more important things to do! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 6. I must continue on my main mission.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: If Shen Matale is not returned to his father it may ignite a savage and bloody feud between the Matale and Sandral estates. We must not allow that to happen.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Your study and training are important, of course. But the Jedi are not a cloistered Order. Our influence and teachings must spread beyond the walls of our Academies.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: It is in the real world that we truly prove ourselves worthy of the title Jedi. You would do well to remember this, young Padawan.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: Not to mention that I wouldn't mind getting out of this enclave for a bit. I mean, come on, how bad could it be? KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: This task has its own importance. It may also serve to divert our minds for a short time... something which carries its own rewards.
Journal Entry Added Sandral-Matale Feud
Ahlan Matale has approached the Jedi Council and demanded action. He believes that the head of the rival Sandral family, Nurik Sandral, has kidnapped his son. The Jedi Council has decreed that you may investigate the disappearance so long as it does not detract from your main quest.

If you decide to complete this quest then you need to do so before acquiring a fourth Star Map, although a light side character who wants to complete the Genoharadan quests later should wait until after completing them. If you speak to Master Vandar again before completing your investigation of the ruins:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'd like to ask you some questions.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: A Jedi must ever be seeking knowledge. What is it you wish to know?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. What should be done about the Sandral and Matale families?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: If Shen Matale is not returned to his father it may ignite a savage and bloody feud between the Matale and Sandral estates. We must not allow that to happen. You should ask Master Vrook about that, Padawan. He is in charge of our relations with the settlers.

You can also speak to Master Vrook Lamar about it after completing your investigation of the ruins and reporting to Master Vandar:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What can you tell me about the Sandral and Matale feud?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: The Sandrals and Matales have been at odds ever since they came to this planet. And have been making my life difficult the entire time, as well. Now Ahlan Matale accuses Nurik Sandral of stealing his son, Shen. Nurik Sandral's own son Casus has been missing for a while now. We do not know what has happened. Ahlan is rash enough, and stupid enough, to start a war over any imagined slight. We would resolve this, but we have too few Jedi to spare. It must be resolved peacefully! Their estates are both located to the south of the Enclave - the Sandral fairly far. It would normally be your duty to assist in such matters, but your primary task takes precedence. If you are stuck on the planet for a while you may investigate. I would recommend starting at the estate of Ahlan Matale.

Exit the Jedi enclave again via its outer courtyard and travel via either path south to the Matale grounds, or transit back to the grove and travel there via either path north.

Dead Settler[edit]

This quest is optional even in the context of the Sandral-Matale feud, but you receive experience and credits for completing it, and can move closer to the light or dark side of the Force.

Matale Grounds[edit]

In the middle of the plain at the east end of the Matale Grounds, three kath hounds are now gathered by a dead settler:

You have found the body of Casus Sandral. The journal you found on the body tells that he was an amateur archaeologist who was investigating strange ruins across Dantooine. By the wounds on his body, it would seem that he was mauled to death by kath hounds.

This is the diary of Casus Sandral, amateur archeologist. It details his efforts to discover the source of the ancient ruins found across the surface of Dantooine. Upon reading it, you gather that he had found some correlation between the ruins and something called the 'Rak'.

The Matale estate is in the center of the Matale grounds, and you can now tell the Matale droid guarding its west door that you wish to speak to Ahlan Matale:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I come on behalf of the Jedi Council. I wish to speak to Ahlan Matale.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Matale Droid: You have come from the Jedi Council? Master Matale wishes to speak with you. I will inform him that you are here. Remain at this location until he arrives.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: My protocol droid tells me you are here on behalf of the Council. I was beginning to think my demands had been ignored. Though I think your time would be better spent interrogating the Sandrals as to the whereabouts of my son Shen!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Why are you so certain the Sandrals are to blame? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Any information you might have would be helpful. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You can't accuse the Sandrals without proof.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I have already told my story to the Council! Why did they not inform you of my circumstances? I did not expect such incompetence from the Jedi, but I shall repeat the tale once more... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Proof? How dare you talk to me about proof! I have more than enough to satisfy any reasonable person!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Many years ago I brought my family here to Dantooine to escape the crush of humanity on the Core Worlds. Soon after we settled here, the Sandrals arrived. And they have been a plague upon my house ever since!
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: Somehow I imagine the story from the Sandrals would sound just about the same, don't you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: The injustices the Sandrals have committed against the Matales are far too numerous to name, but the Council is well aware of our many disputes. Recently, I discovered several Sandral droids trespassing on my land.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What were they doing here? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What happened to the droids?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I have no idea what nefarious purpose lay behind their arrival - my own assassination, perhaps. Destruction of my property. Maybe a simple spy mission. I wasn't about to find out. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: My own security droids destroyed the invaders - not a single one survived.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: My own security droids destroyed the invaders - not a single one survived. KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: At least you're efficient.
KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: At least you're efficient. KotOR Icon T3-M4.png T3-M4: [Alarmed] Beep beep!
KotOR Icon T3-M4.png T3-M4: [Alarmed] Beep beep! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Err... no, I don't think the droids were very frightened, Teethree.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Err... no, I don't think the droids were very frightened, Teethree. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I have no idea what nefarious purpose lay behind their arrival - my own assassination, perhaps. Destruction of my property. Maybe a simple spy mission. I wasn't about to find out.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: It was shortly after this incident that Shen, my only son and heir to the Matale estate, vanished. Obviously Nurik, the unscrupulous head of the Sandral clan, has abducted my son in retaliation for the destruction of his droids!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I shall go and speak to Nurik Sandral. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You are jumping to conclusions. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Where can I find the Sandrals?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: The only resolution possible is the immediate return of my son! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Follow their stink south of here and you shall find them. I demand action on this matter, Jedi!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Why does the Council insist on stalling? The life of my son is at stake! Is it possible... yes, of course. Now I understand. I am a man of the world, Jedi. I know how things are done. I will make a... contribution... of 1,000 credits to the Council in exchange for rescuing Shen from the Sandrals. I will present the credits directly to you, of course. Whether the Council ever learns of this "donation" is completely up to you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Jedi cannot be bought! I will remain neutral despite your attempted bribe! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I understand you are upset, Ahlan Matale. Rest assured I will find Shen. Dark Side Points Gained: -4
3. Make it 2,000 and you have a deal.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Two thousand? Your greed is outstripped only by your utter lack of any sense of proportion, Jedi!
KotOR Icon Juhani.png Juhani: You must not give in to your baser desires. The lure of the dark side is strong. KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Two thousand? Even if he would pay such a fee, what could you possibly need so many credits for?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: For that price I could purchase enough droids to destroy the entire Sandral estate. Two thousand is out of the question.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Nevertheless, my offer still stands. A thousand credits for Shen's safe return. Know, however, that I will not sit idly by much longer. Eventually I will take whatever action is necessary to rescue my son... including razing the entire Sandral estate!
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: You would be willing to risk open war over this?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: It is the Sandrals who have started this. Not I.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: And here I thought you would blame us, if we failed. It seems everyone is responsible for your actions except for you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I don't need to stand here and listen to such impertinence!
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: I'm impressed, Carth. That interjection was very Jedi-like.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: What can I say? You pick up a few things.
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: I'm afraid Ahlan is not just making idle threats. He is rash and foolish enough to attempt a full assault on the Sandral estate. Such action would result in all-out war between the families.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: I've seen men like Ahlan Matale before. He's so convinced that his hatred is justified he's prepared to do anything. And if we don't intervene, there will be war.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Until you find Shen, Jedi, we have nothing further to discuss. I suggest you hurry south to their estate, lest I take matters into my own hands.

Sandral Grounds[edit]

Leave the Matale grounds via either path south and travel across the Grove to the Sandral Grounds beyond: the Sandral estate is in the midst of the plain at the west end. You can now enter after speaking to the Sandral droid guarding its north door:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: This is private property! By what authority are you trespassing on this estate?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I come on behalf of the Jedi Council. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Casus Sandral is dead.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: The Council? If you are here because of Shen Matale's disappearance you are wasting your time. The Sandrals are not involved. This is nothing but a Matale witch hunt. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: Casus is dead? Then it is as we feared. You should speak to Nurik yourself. He will want to question you on the details of his son's death.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I am not in league with the Matales, but I must speak to Nurik. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. In the name of the Council, I demand you let me in!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: Very well. We wish no trouble with the Jedi Council.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: Nurik left orders he was not to be disturbed, but given the circumstances I will make an exception. Go into the main hall. Nurik will meet with you there.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I have been informed by my protocol droid that you wish to speak to me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I have been informed by my protocol droid that you have news about my son Casus.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I want to ask you about the disappearance of Shen Matale. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I am here on behalf of the Jedi Council. I am investigating the disappearance of Shen Matale.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I feel great sorrow at the young Matale heir's disappearance, but they are not the only family to suffer such a tragedy. Dantooine is a dangerous place. My own son Casus has been missing for some time now. But I know nothing about the disappearance of Shen. Perhaps he and Casus now share a similar fate.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Jedi Council has instructed me to investigate this matter. May I search your estate?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I brought my family here to find peace and safety - not to be harassed and treated like common criminals! Your Council has no authority here, and I respectfully ask you to leave this property at once.
KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: This guy isn't telling us something... he might even be lying. I don't trust him. KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Jedi are renowned for their fairness and pursuit of justice. There is nothing to fear from us... unless you have something to hide. KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: I've seen an evasion or two in my time... enough to know when I hear it.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: That's quite a line. You actually believe that? Don't you think someone is allowed to value privacy?
KotOR Icon Juhani.png Juhani: For once I will have to agree with the Mandalorian... KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Privacy is all well and good, but justice must be valued higher. Is it not obvious to you that this man hides something?
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: Actually, it is. All I'm saying is that not everybody welcomes the sight of a Jedi with open arms. Better get used to it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I trust you will show yourself out. If not, my security droids will be sure to deal with you.

Otherwise, if you found the Dead Settler at the east end of the Matale grounds:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Your son Casus is dead. I have seen his body.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Casus... is dead? I was afraid of this, yet in my heart I knew it must be true. What... what happened to my son?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. He was killed by kath hounds while exploring the Dantooine ruins. Dark Side Points Gained: -2
2. Casus is a kath hound chew toy.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Are all Jedi so callous towards those who grieve? No matter. Your cruel words hurt me no more than the news itself.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Kath hounds? I... I was so certain the Matale family was to blame... But this changes nothing! My own son is dead - why should I shed one tear about the disappearance of my bitter enemy's son?
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Typical. Anything to continue the feud which has become so customary to you people.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I must ask you something, though it is difficult for me. My son had a diary. His private, personal thoughts. Now that he is gone, I have nothing else to remember him by. Please, the diary means more to me than it ever could to you. I will give you a hundred credits for its return.
Light Side Points Gained: +2
1. Here is the diary, Nurik, but you may keep your money. I need no reward for this task.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Here is the diary.
KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: Mighty generous of you. A little too generous, if you ask me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I thank you for this. The diary is all I have left of my son.
KotOR Icon Credits.png Credits Received: 100

Otherwise:

3. [Persuade] Make it two hundred and you have a deal.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: [Success] I did not realize the Jedi were such cold hearted monsters. Very well, you shall have your two hundred credits. Here! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandal: [Failure] You think you can exploit a father's grief? I loved my son, but I am no fool! You shall get nothing from me! May the curse that brought Casus to his death be on your head as well!
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: This man just lost his son! I can't believe you're trying to squeeze extra credits out of him.
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Your actions show you are overly focused on material wealth. This is not the way of the Jedi. You will have to learn to let go of your greed if you wish to walk in the light.
KotOR Icon Credits.png Credits Received: 200 KotOR Icon Credits.png Credits Received: 0
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: We have nothing further to discuss. Please, leave me to my grief.

If you don't tell him his son Casus is dead, then after speaking to his daughter Rahasia you can tell his droid:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: Nurik has nothing more to say to you. He left strict instructions he was not to be disturbed under any circumstances.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. My investigation is not yet complete. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm getting inside, and nothing you can do will stop me!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: My orders are clear. Please leave immediately. Only those on official family business are permitted on the family's land. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: I am not programmed for battle, but I will not open the gates except for those on official family business. Even if you destroy me, you will not be able to get in. And tomorrow, another droid will be programmed to take over my duties.

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Casus Sandral is dead.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral Droid: Casus is dead? Then it is as we feared. I will be sure Nurik is given this news, though it will break his heart. But even under these circumstances I cannot let you in.

Sandral Estate[edit]

As Nurik Sandral exits the main hall via the door in the middle of its south wall, his daughter Rahasia Sandral enters:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: You are here from the Council, are you not? Looking for Shen Matale?
Dark Side Points Gained: -2
4. What I do is my own business, so back off!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I don't have time to listen to this.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: I... I thought you would listen to me. I thought the Jedi were compassionate and kind! I shouldn't have spoken to you at all - I've just made everything worse!
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: The Council would not approve of your actions here. Perhaps we should find this girl and try to help her. KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: Yeah, that's the way to go about it. Make things worse for these people, why don't you?
KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: There could be a lot of money for finding Shen Matale. I think that girl knows something about him going missing.
Journal Entry Added Sandral-Matale Feud
You have spoken to Nurik Sandral and his daughter Rahasia. Nurik denies any involvement in Shen's disappearance. His daughter Rahasia came and tried to speak to you, but you must have said something wrong and now she's sulking.

If you continue speaking to her, or do so after apologizing:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: You made your wishes clear to me the last time we talked. I won't bother you anymore - though I would ask you to leave our estate. This is private property.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'll leave when I'm good and ready!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: I did not realize the Jedi were such bullies. Unfortunately, there is little I can do if you refuse to respect my wishes. I shall not bother you anymore.
Light Side Points Gained: +6
1. I have come to apologize for my earlier behavior.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Who are you? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Do you know something about Shen's disappearance? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I just came to tell your Nurik about his son Casus. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Apologize? Then you will help me?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Yes, I will help you. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I am here to find Shen Matale. Maybe we can help each other.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: My name is Rahasia - Nurik is my father. He has not been himself since Casus disappeared. He is mad with grief, and he is convinced the Matales are responsible. He is not thinking rationally.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Does this have anything to do with what happened to Shen? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Casus disappeared? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Casus was killed by kath hounds. The Matales had nothing to do with it!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Yes. Casus was my brother. He was working on archeological digs here on Dantooine when he disappeared. My father blamed Ahlan Matale... and his son... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Casus is dead? It is as I feared, though I am relieved the Matales are not responsible.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: My father is a good man. When my mother died, he raised me and my brother by himself. He loves his children, and we love him. I just don't want you to judge him too harshly.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I only want to find Shen Matale. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Judge him? What has your father done? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Tell me what's going on here!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: You must understand that Father has been under a terrible strain. I have no wish to disobey him, but there are matters where even my father's authority is not absolute.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Please, tell me what has happened. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Quit stalling and get to the point!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: My father has kidnapped Shen Matale. He is holding him prisoner here in the compound. He feels this is a way to get back at the Matales, a way to get even for the disappearance of my brother Casus.
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: I see. Well there is the answer we seek. The Jedi Council should be informed of this at once. KotOR Icon Juhani.png Juhani: We should inform the Jedi Council of this crime. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Since Casus went missing my father has become unstable. He no longer even cares if the Matales are responsible for what happened to Casus.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: You don't think that perhaps there's more to look at here, do you? That maybe everything isn't what it appears?
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Of course not. It seems very simple to me. The Council must be allowed to decide the next step.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: No! Since Casus went missing my father has become unstable, he might hurt him if you do that! He no longer even cares if the Matales are responsible for what happened to Casus.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: I am afraid my father will simply kill Shen out of a mad, misguided lust for vengeance!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I must tell the Jedi Council at once! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Why are you telling me all this? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. What happened to Casus?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: The Jedi Council does not have the authority to search our estate, and if Father finds out his secret has been revealed he might kill Shen right away. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen is an innocent victim in all this. My father is not a bad man, but his grief has driven him to madness. He must be stopped. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: I do not know. I am worried for him, truly, but I do not believe Ahlan Matale had anything to do with it... and now my father may take it out on Shen...
Dark Side Points Gained: -2
2. This isn't my problem.

If you speak to her again, she repeats most of the following:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Please, find Shen and rescue him before my father does something he will regret forever. I would take you to the prison, but I cannot let my father see me with you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Take this key. It will open an unguarded door at the rear of the estate. You and Shen can make your escape through there.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: There are many security droids guarding the halls. Please hurry... you are Shen's only hope.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What is the problem between your families? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Why do you care about Shen? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I will go now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Ahlan Matale and my father have had problems ever since they settled on this world. To hear my father tell it, Ahlan is a brute and a bully, but a rich one. He feels his credits give him the right to step all over normal people. My father stands up to Ahlan because no one else will. But now he thinks Ahlan has taken my brother Casus, and has imprisoned Shen as revenge. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen and I... we... Well, we have been taught by our families to hate each other, just for being related to our fathers. But I met Shen alone one day in the city, away from his father, and... ... and Shen was so charming, so sweet. He didn't care at all that I was a Sandral, he just accepted me for who I was, with no reservations. We talked and met again over months and fell in love. My brother Casus met him too and they were beginning to become friends, but then this whole mess had to happen...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Please find Shen and free him! You are my only hope!
Journal Entry Added Sandral-Matale Feud
You have spoken to Nurik Sandral and his daughter Rahasia. Nurik denies any involvement in Shen's disappearance, but Rahasia tells another story. She says that her father has captured Shen because he believes that Ahlan has his own son, Casus. Shen is being held in the Sandral estate, and Rahasia has given you a key to the rear entrance so that you may help him escape.

This key opens the rear door to the Sandral Estate.

The Sandral droid now stands to the left of the door in the middle of the south wall of the main hall:

[Non-family members are not permitted entrance.]

Exit via the door in the north wall behind you, then use Rahasia's key to open the rear entrance to the Sandral estate in its east wall. The only enemies within the estate are Droids armed with Blaster Pistols and Blaster Rifles, and a couple of minor Mines.

North Hallway[edit]

Through the rear entrance is the east arm of the hallway around the north and east perimeter of the estate. There's a Sandral sentry droid at the south end of the hallway:

There are two doors in the south wall: beyond the door labeled Security Room at the west end is the Storage Room, while beyond the east door is Shen's holding cell.

The door can also be opened with a prison key received from a footlocker in the Repair Room to the southwest. Inside is Shen Matale:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Who are you? What do you want with me? Are you working for my father?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Anyone tell you you ask too many questions? Now sit down and shut up! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Fine. Stay in here and rot.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: As you wish. I have no quarrel with you.

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I am here to rescue you, Shen.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Rescue me? No... I won't leave. It's too dangerous.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'll protect you, Shen. Let's go.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: It is not my own safety I am concerned about. I am worried about the fate of Nurik's daughter, Rahasia. She has been trying to convince her father to release me ever since I was captured. If I escape, Nurik will think Rahasia is to blame. Nurik is insane with grief over the loss of his son Casus. If I leave with you, it is Rahasia who will suffer. I cannot allow that.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. How can I get you to come with me? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What if we take Rahasia with us? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. If you don't come with me, I'll drag you out!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: If you do that, I'll scream my head off and alert all the guards in the house! The only chance you have is to talk Rahasia into leaving.

If you speak to him again before you speak to Rahasia, then he repeats the following:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: If you can convince Rahasia to escape with us I will accompany you - though I do not know if she would be willing to turn her back on her home and family. Who could imagine a Sandral doing such a thing for the sake of a Matale. But if she will not go, then I too shall stay. I would rather face my own death, than have her face her father's wrath because I escaped.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Why do your families hate each other so much? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Why do you care so much about Rahasia? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I will go speak to Rahasia.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: My father thinks the Sandrals are thieves and liars who followed him here to Dantooine just to steal what he has earned for himself. My father is an egotist and can be violent at times, but I think he still cares for me. Rahasia's father seems to be falling into the same pattern as mine. They're both too unreasonable to be talked to about the other. I think the only hope Rahasia and I will have is if we can escape both of them... Please find Rahasia and speak to her. Get her to flee this place with me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I was taught to hate the Sandrals. To think of them as evil and subhuman. But from the moment I saw Rahasia one day in the city, I knew that my father was wrong. She was like an angel: all white silks and perfume, seeming to float above the crowds. I don't know what else I could have done but fall in love with her. For months I wooed her and tried to win her heart. I believe I have succeeded, but now this has happened... Our families are always coming between us in one way or another. Please find her and convince her to run away with me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Thank you. I wish you luck.
Journal Entry Added Sandral-Matale Feud
Shen says that he will not leave the estate so long as Rahasia stays behind. He fears for what her father may do to her once his escape has been discovered. He claims to lover her.
Experience Points (XP) Received:
  • 150 Spoken to Shen

You left Rahasia back in the main hall, and you can return to her there (although you'll need to return east to exit the estate, then enter again to the north). She can also be found in her room at the north end of the South Hallway, the most direct route to which is through the Storage Room at the west end of the north hallway. In either case:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: What are you doing here? Have you found Shen yet?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'm trying to rescue Shen, but he won't leave without you, Rahasia. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Come with me Rahasia... it's the only way Shen will leave the estate.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen can be so stubborn sometimes! If one of the security droids sees me wandering the halls Father will get suspicious! I can't risk it! I know Shen would rather die than leave me here alone to face the wrath of my father. Tell Shen I will meet you outside the gates. I will wait as long as I can, but you must hurry.
Journal Entry Added Sandral-Matale Feud
Rahasia has agreed to meet you and Shen outside the estate. Now all that remains is to get him out of here...
Experience Points (XP) Received:
  • 300 Spoken to Rahasia

Before returning to the holding cell to speak to Shen again, you may want to explore the rest of the estate as you'll be locked out again once you and he Exit.

Exit[edit]

Upon returning to the Holding Cell to speak to Shen again after speaking to Rahasia, you and he exit the estate to the north to meet her outside: regardless of the outcome, you're now locked out of the estate again.

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: You are back. Have you spoken to Rahasia?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Yes. She promised she would meet us outside the gates.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I pray she is not just telling me what I want to hear. But I will have to take that chance. Hurry, then. We must not keep Rahasia waiting.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen! You're safe!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Rahasia! Thank goodness you managed to escape!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: It was all thanks to this kind Jedi that we managed to get this far at all. I thank you Jedi, for all that you have done for us.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. It was no problem. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Shen's father promised me a reward. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. We should get out of here quickly.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: No, we know that you must have gone to great personal risk to get us out of the Sandral estate undetected. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: What? You're... you're just doing this for the reward? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: You're right, we should go as fast as we can. I don't know how long it will be before my father realizes we're gone.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: You had taken my Casus from me long before that! You started it!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I don't want to hear any of your excuses! Now I will get revenge for your transgressions!

To receive maximum experience (but only half maximum credits, 500 less), you need to be highly persuasive to convince both fathers to allow Shen and Rahasia to stay together:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. You two just need to calm down.
Dialog
Shen Matale: Please listen to him, father! Shen Matale: Please listen to her, father!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Why should I listen to the Jedi? All you want is to remain with that Sandral harlot.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: My daughter is not a harlot, Matale dog!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Why don't you try listening to your children?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Our children don't know enough of what's good for them to make a reasonable decision!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: It's better to let older, wiser heads like ours make the decisions.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Rahasia and I don't want you to make decisions for us! We want to live alone away from you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: You... You insolent boy! If you want to live alone then so be it! I disown you! Never set foot in my house again!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Shen... KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Will you go with Shen, Rahasia?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Both of you calm down now! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You should try to sort this out together.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: We are trying to be reasonable here, of course. We ARE sensible people after all. But our children are being so stubborn.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: If Shen would just understand that he has to do what I want, this would all be solved easily.
Hard 1. [Persuade] Shen is capable of making decisions on his own.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: [Failure] No! I won't let you do this!

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You've no right to keep them apart!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I have every right! Shen is my son! You know what you're getting yourself into here Shen? Is causing a war between our families what you really want to do?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: No... but I want Rahasia!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: You can't have her! I will fight to keep her from you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Let it go, Shen. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Don't do something rash. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Your children should be allowed to live their own lives.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Listen to the Jedi, for once, Shen. Don't turn this into a war.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I don't know how you can think of that when we have our children trying to go away together.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Well, it wouldn't be so bad would it? Shen seems to genuinely care for my Rahasia. He might be a good husband for her someday.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Hmph. As much as I may dislike it... I think I see it too.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. You'll let them stay together? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I knew you two could see reason.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I suppose... I suppose I might be convinced to see that Sandral girl with my son. IF she is loyal to him. But I don't trust you a centimeter farther, old man. Your daughter may treat Shen well, but you will never see them! They will live with me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Of course not, you pompous old windbag! They'll be living with me!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Why don't you compromise? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. They can live with both of you. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. They could stay at the Jedi Enclave.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Of course not! My house is more than good enough!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I will not have them set foot in a Sandral household!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: They shall not live with the Matales!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Then you propose to buy us a new house, do you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Um... well, yes, actually that sounds like a good idea.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I'm... surprised. That does sound like a good idea!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: We should discuss this more...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Thank you, Master Jedi, for bringing us together and getting our parents to accept us.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: We will praise you to the Council for what you have done and name our children after you.

Shen and Rahasia met outside the Sandral estate, but were ambushed by Ahlan Matale. Shortly thereafter, Nurik Sandral showed up as well. You managed to convince both fathers that this match was for the best and Shen and Rahasia are allowed to stay together now. They thanked you profusely and walked off with their familes.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: I have heard that the Sandrals and Matales have agreed to cooperation in the construction of a new estate to house their children. Apparently a son of one family and the daughter of the other are getting married. I also I hear that we have you to thank for this happy occurrence. I am glad that you are using the authority our Order wields to achieve some measure of good.

If you start with a more neutral response, subsequently choose different responses or fail to persuade both fathers, then you have two remaining options: the first is for Shen and Rahasia to stay together without reconciling with their families, for which you only receive two thirds maximum experience (300 XP less) and no credits.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Don't make me intervene in this.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: We never asked for you help, Jedi! Do not press in matters that do not concern you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: This in an internal affair for my family and is none of your concern!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: You should not interfere with our private business, Jedi. This will be resolved very shortly.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Do not do anything outside the law. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Your children should be allowed to live their own lives.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: This is a private affair, Jedi. You would do well not to interfere. We are allowed to decide the fate of our children! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Don't disobey me, Shen. Come to me now and leave her! If you don't I'll disown you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I don't care! Rahasia and I will live on our own if you won't accept us!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: You will do no such thing! I am your father and I order you to come back with me!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: No, father, I won't!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Rahasia! You will not leave with this... this Matale boy!
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: I am, father, and you can't stop me! We're leaving for the Enclave!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: You foolish girl!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Do not try to force them to return. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Do not be so selfish, Nurik. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Let them go.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: You think to make us stand here, then?!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: You expect us to just let them leave?? Droids! Stop them!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: You will not turn your droids on my daughter! Droids! Don't let them take Rahasia!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: We appear to be at an impasse then... And they got away!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: It is your fault, Ahlan! You were always too violent for your own good!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: ME?! You were the one who rushed out here with war droids!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Both of you calm down. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You don't need to fight anymore. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. SHUT UP!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I will not rest until I have my Shen back! The Council will hear of the troubles you caused, Jedi! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Do not tell me what to do, Jedi! The Council will hear of the trouble you caused here today!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Indeed they shall!

Shen and Rahasia met outside the Sandral estate, but were ambushed by Ahlan Matale. Shortly thereafter, Nurik Sandral showed up as well. Unable to reconcile them with their families, Shen and Rahasia fled to the Jedi Enclave where they can live their lives away from their families' poisonous influence.

If you return to the Matale Estate or the Jedi Enclave:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Matale Droid: Master Matale has left orders to deny you entrance into the estate. He suspects you to be in league with the Sandrals. A grievance will be filed with the Council for your actions.
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: I am sure the Council will realize these accusations are completely unfounded. The Matale grievance will fall on deaf ears.

If you speak to the female Jedi Belaya in the enclave's inner courtyard:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Belaya: Shen and Rahasia have been welcomed here in the compound for as long as they wish to stay. I am glad that your help enabled them to remain together.

Shen and Rahasia can be found in the west room to the north and west of the exit back to the outer courtyard:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: I am sorry we have nothing of value to give you as a reward. Our families have cut us off completely. Had the Council not taken us in, we would be foraging in the wilderness to survive.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'm just glad I could help you out. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What are your plans now? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. So... any wedding plans?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: When I first met Shen, I feared our forbidden love was doomed to a tragic end. But thanks to you and the Jedi Council, our story ends in joy. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: The Council will let us stay here as long as we want, though I know Shen and I are both hoping our fathers will forgive us and welcome us back into their homes. If not, we will try to build a future somewhere else. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: We are waiting before the ceremony. Hopefully, in time, our fathers will agree to attend. If not, we plan to have a small, simple ceremony. You will be invited, of course.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Rahasia and I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for us. Now we finally have a place to share our love, without fear of reprisals from our families.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. So... any kids on the way yet?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Not yet, my friend, but perhaps someday soon.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'm just glad I could help you out. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What are your plans now?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Rahasia and I can spend the rest of our lives together... All thanks to you. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: We will stay here for the next little while... We are still hoping our parents will learn to set aside their differences and welcome us back into their homes. If they do not, perhaps we will travel to Coruscant or the Core Worlds and make our fortunes there.
KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: I wish you the best of luck, Shen. I hope you two find the happiness I once knew myself. KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Good luck to you both. May you find the happiness you deserve.

If you return to the Jedi Council Chambers:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Rahasia Sandral and Shen Matale have come here seeking shelter against their families. The Council has decided to give it to them. Their love for each other was being denied by overly possessive parents and we learned that it was only by your intervention that they managed to escape here. While it is regrettable that the fences between the families were not repaired, it is good that these two young lovers can live their lives free of oppression. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: Shen and Rahasia have been granted asylum here at the Enclave until they can find a way to deal with their families. I hear you had something to do with that. It is the way of the Jedi to provide help to those in need, and you seem to have lived up to this duty. I congratulate you, Padawan. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Zhar Lestin: Shen Matale and Rahasia Sandral have fled their feuding families and asked for sanctuary here in the Enclave. The Council has granted this request. I have heard that it was by your actions that they managed to escape, and I must congratulate you for avoiding a potentially dangerous situation.

The second option is for Shen and Rahasia to separate, for which you only receive half maximum experience (450 XP) but maximum credits:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I suppose I should have seen it from the beginning... that our hopeless romance would be doomed to failure.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Please Shen, it doesn't have to end this way!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Yes it does, it would never work. Our families are too different.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen! No!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Let him go Rahasia. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. There's nothing you can do Rahasia. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. This is for the best.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen, wait! I love you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Don't say that to me, Rahasia. Let's try to stay calm... rational. We both know it wouldn't work. Let's not get all emotional and end up hating each other.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I... I see. I wonder how I could ever have thought differently about you, Rahasia. How I could have been so blind.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen, no...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I was foolish, my father was right, we are not destined for one another. It would never have worked. There would have been too many problems. Sometimes it is just better to let things die.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen, wait! I love you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I'm sorry, Rahasia. It just won't work. In fact... I don't think I like you very much at all. You remind me too much of your father.

In either case:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. You've made the right choice, Shen. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You should leave with your father now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Yes, and I thank you for showing me what I had to do. I'm ready to leave now, father.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Let's go home then. Here is you reward, Jedi, for your assistance. This isn't over Sandrals! I will take this affront directly before the Jedi Council and see you exiled from this world!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Shen... No...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Come inside, Rahasia. Let's get the stink of that Matale dog off you.

If you return to the Matale Estate, or the Jedi Council Chambers in the enclave:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Matale Droid: Master Matale is grateful for the return of Shen. He has sealed the estate and cannot see you, however. Please move along.
KotOR Icon Mission.png Mission: Figures. We get his son back for him, and now the stuck-up estate owner won't have anything to do with us!
KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: So this is how nobles show their gratitude. No wonder all my friends are soldiers.
KotOR Icon T3-M4.png T3-M4: [Angrily] Beep beep-eep!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Matale Droid: I do as I am told. Insults will get you nowhere.
KotOR Icon T3-M4.png T3-M4: [Angrily] Beep!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: We have heard that there was a close confrontation between the Sandral and Matale families by one of the southern estates earlier. We also heard that it was by your actions that direct conflict was avoided. It is good to hear that you have learned the lessons of the Jedi Order well enough to avoid conflict when necessary.

You can also move closer to the dark side of the force while separating Shen and Rahasia if this is your first response:

Dark Side Points Gained: -4
3. Why don't you just shoot each other and get it over with.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: No! Father don't do this!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: We don't always need to be fighting like this!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: It's gone too far for that, Rahasia. Ahlan has crossed the line one too many times!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Ha! For what you've done to me and my family, I will see you dead and rotting in the ground.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Do not act too hastily. This does not have to end badly. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. If you fight, you'll all be killed.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I see little choice in the matter with the Matale dog invading my estate like this, and his son stealing my daughter. You stole my son first! Whatever the Jedi might say, I know it was you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: My son will never be with your daughter while I'm alive!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Rahasia and I love each other and we'll be together forever!

3. The only way either of you will end this is with blood.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: I'm glad somebody finally said what we've all been thinking!
KotOR Icon Juhani.png Juhani: This doesn't have to end in violence! Don't give in to your bloodlust! KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: What are you doing? Are you trying to get everyone here killed? KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: Are you mad? They will slaughter each other!

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: No! Don't!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: This... this has all gone horribly wrong somewhere. Ahlan, what can we be thinking? How could we have let this go this far? We are at each others throats now fighting over our children's lives when they are old enough to live their own.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: He is my son! How can he disrespect my wishes like this?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Your son has his own life, Ahlan. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You can't control your children forever.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: My son will do what I tell him! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: My son doesn't know enough to act responsibly on his own!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I have my own life, father, and I want to spend it with Rahasia!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: You're too immature to do anything on your own.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I can do whatever I want! You can't control me!

If your third response isn't to lie to Nurik, you can move still closer to the dark side while receiving maximum credits by lying to Shen (regardless of success or failure):

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Your father is right, Shen. Leave Rahasia. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You could never make Rahasia happy anyway. Medium 3. [Lie] Rahasia doesn't love you anyway. Dark Side Points Gained: -2
3. [Lie] Rahasia doesn't love you anyway.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I... I could try couldn't I? I would... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: [Success] What? No! Rahasia, how...how could you? How could you lead me to believe... ? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: [Failure] No, I don't believe you! Rahasia and I love each other!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: You know nothing of what it would be like with that... that Sandral! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: No, Shen, I...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Come away from that Sandral harlot, Shen. Come back with me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: I... I...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. You can see Rahasia isn't right for you. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Rahasia would only betray you in the end. Medium 3. [Persuade] You want to trust yourself to a woman who would betray her own father?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: [Success] No, I... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: [Failure] No, I don't believe you! Rahasia and I love each other!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Look at her! See what kind of person she really is!

Failure either time you try to persuade him gives you a second opportunity to lie to him and move even closer to the dark side:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. It will never work, Shen. Why lose your family as well? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Let her go, Shen. It's the easiest way to mend things. Medium 3. [Lie] You know she was just using you. Dark Side Points Gained: -2
3. [Lie] You know she was just using you.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Come back to me, boy. You know this is the way things will be. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: I will never let you live with a Sandral, Shen. Come back to me now. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: [Success] What? No! Rahasia, how...how could you? How could you lead me to believe... ? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: [Failure] No! Rahasia would never do that!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: She's a Sandral, boy! They're no good for anything!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: You lying Matale dog! My Rahasia is twice the man your son will ever be!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shen Matale: Why... Why all of this? Why are you fighting?

Otherwise, you can move much closer to the dark side, receiving two thirds maximum experience (300 XP less) but no credits, by lying to Nurik to provoke a bloodbath with your third response:

Dark Side Points Gained: -4
1. [Lie] You know, Nurik, Ahlan actually did kill Casus.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: [Success] He... WHAT??
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: No, no! I never did anything to your son, I...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: I knew you were lying, you dog! And to think I thought it might not have been you! So I'll take your son from you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Rahasia Sandral: Father, no! Don't do it!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: Die!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Shen!

Now that Nurik Sandral has killed Shen Matale, a bloodbath is inevitable:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Stop this madness now! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Don't do it, Ahlan! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Run, Rahasia, run! Dark Side Points Gained: -4
4. Don't let him get away with that!
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
5. Kill them! Kill them all!
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Ahlan Matale: Die!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Nurik Sandral: No! Rahasia! I'll kill you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Matale War Droid: The Master has been injured. Terminate all opposition.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sandral War Droid: Destroy the invaders!

Shen and Rahasia met outside the Sandral estate, but were ambushed by Ahlan Matale. Shortly thereafter, Nurik Sandral showed up as well. HK-47 would be proud (and no doubt disappointed to miss it, so maybe you should wait before speaking to Shen again and return after the droid has joined your party on Tatooine...).

With Canderous in your party, you won't have to lie to the Jedi Council: perhaps it really was Mandalorian raiders...

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Crattis Yurkal: There was some fighting down by the Sandral estate, I heard. I hope it's not the Mandalorian raiders acting up again... Or maybe even some forces sponsored by Czerka Corp.! But maybe I'm just being a bit paranoid... You didn't come here to listen to my ramblings on the evils of the Czerka Corp., I'll bet! What can I do for you?

If you return to the Jedi Council chambers, you can move even closer to the dark side by lying to them all:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: There has been a report of a terrible battle near the Sandral estate to the south of the Enclave. Apparently a large force of droids attacked the estate. The defending droids returned in kind. The attacking family was apparently the Matale family launching an attack on the Sandral estate. Both entire families were slain, including the boy Shen who had been reported missing. There was a mention that someone noticed one or more other persons leaving the battle area after the conflict had finished. You were in that area, were you not? Did you see something?

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: [Success] Is that so... I cannot find fault with your statement, but something in your manner is odd. But no matter, more pressing things are at hand. You must always remember the destruction and chaos that the dark side can reap, and avoid it at all costs.
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: *whisper* It is obvious Master Vandar senses something is not right with your story. Let this be a lesson against hate and violence: a Jedi must always be wary lest these lead to the dark side.
