Valley

Door to Valley is at the west end of the tomb: if you want to return to Ebon Hawk or change party selection, then you need to exit to do so.

There's a door down the corridor to the east, beyond which the corridor is mined to protect a locked door:

It's possible to pass this mine on the south side of the corridor without triggering it. The corridor beyond continues down a ramp to the east before opening on a platform where a tuk'ata encounter awaits, the composition of which depends on your character level:

The high natural Force Resistance of tuk'ata means that even a level 20 Jedi's Force powers will only breach it 45% of the time, so Force users are advised to use (Advanced) Throw Lightsaber against them.

There's a Sith corpse at the base of the ramp to the right, and another at the south end of the platform:

The datapad appears to be the journal of a Sith archaeologist by the name of Veren Gal. Most of it consists of uninteresting notes on the geology of the tomb's caverns, but the final entry is as follows:

"Strangely enough, I've found traces of Therangen in the tomb. This is an unstable black rock used as fuel by lesser races... perhaps the ancient Sith on Korriban used it as a power source? It is a volatile and dangerous substance, and reacts violently to fire. I will have to be careful."

The chasm to the east of this platform is bridged to the north, while a narrow platform on which four deactivated droids stand extends half way across it to the south beyond a rune covered obelisk which blocks entry. The bridge itself is also blocked, by a Therangen obelisk halfway across, and there's a severed arm on the left at its west end:

This datapad seems to have once belonged to an enterprising young Sith student who had ventured into the tomb in search of Ajunta Pall's sword. One of his entries is of particular note:

"There has got to be a way to get past this obelisk blocking the bridge! It seems to be made of some kind of unstable material... I'm willing to bet some kind of energy discharge will set it off. Blaster fire isn't doing the trick, however. I'll have to try some kind of explosive. I just hope that guard droid over there is as defunct as it looks."

Interact with the Therangen obelisk and you'll discover its an empty container: switch to give item and give any mine, or any grenade other than a CryoBan, ion or poison grenade, and you'll run back to the west end of the bridge as it explodes, clearing the way. However, this also activates the four droids to the south:

All have shields which absorb 50 points of energy damage in total, while two have an Environment Shield Level 3 which can also absorb sonic, cold and heat damage. Melee attacks are obviously impossible, so it's up to any ranged attackers or Force users to kill them: however, they're immobile so they're immune to Force Whirlwind.

Alternatively, you can now run to the platform on the east side of the bridge and pull the lever to your right, which causes the droids to explode (although no experience is received). There's another locked door in the east wall:

Sith Sarcophagus

Beyond the locked door on the east side of the bridge is a ramp descending to another door, which is mined:

It's possible to pass this on either side, but it may be awkward to open the door without disabling or recovering the mine first. Beyond is a burial chamber with a tomb at its center and alcoves in the north, east and south walls. The southern alcove contains a corpse, while the tomb door opens to reveal a Sith sarcophagus:

Sword of Ajunta Pall

After opening the Sith sarcophagus, the door closes and the spirit of Ajunta Pall appears behind you, speaking to you as you approach:

I sense great sadness and regret. Walk carefully... Juhani: Beware this... this spirit. It may not be what it appears. Great emotion lies within... HK-47: Analysis: This emanation barely registers on my sensors, master. Blaster fire may be ineffective... but I am prepared to test that at your word. Spirit of Ajunta Pall: A... Jedi? Here? Why have you come to this dark place, Jedi? Why... disturb my sleepless rest? Spirit of Ajunta Pall: Do... I know you? It... seems as if we have met before... 1. I am not a Jedi. 1. Er... no, I don't think we have ever met... 2. [Persuade/Lie] Yes, of course. Don't you remember me? Spirit of Ajunta Pall: Are you certain? You... the Force is with you. So strong, so bright. However, ask why he remains here to get to the matter at hand:

Spirit of Ajunta Pall: I do remember one thing of my sword... listen to me carefully... "I am that which grips the heart in fright, hearkens night and silences the light." It was... written of my sword long... long ago. Go, then... find my sword and place it on the statue...

The Sword of Ajunta Pall You have encountered none other than the restless and regret-filled spirit of the ancient Sith Lord, Ajunta Pall, within his tomb. He has entreated you to find out which of the three swords buried in his sarcophagus is actually his... and to place it on the statue within this chamber. He has left you with this clue: "I am that which grips the heart in fright, hearkens night and silences the light."

You cannot interact with him again until you've placed one of the swords from the Sith sarcophagus on the Sith statue in the east alcove, and if you try to open the door again:

[This door is held closed by some great power, and cannot be opened at the moment.]

Compare his clue with the descriptions of the three swords in your inventory:

The blade of this sword is an ebony black and notched along its length to give it a cruel and jagged appearance. There is a strange visual effect upon the sword which makes it seem as if shadows pulse and ebb along its surface. It is very cool to the touch, and upon close inspection a small insignia of a dark circle can be spotted on its hilt.	This blade is long and straight and sparkles with a silver glow that becomes brighter as the hilt is touched. It is quite warm, and it almost appears that the blade becomes white-hot once it is equipped. Such a fiery weapon would be devastating against an unarmored opponent. A small insignia of a flame is impressed upon the hilt.	Like most vibro blades, this weapon lets off a dim humming sound once activated. Its length shimmers with a deep blue-colored force field, and its hilt is the black of charcoal. A single insignia upon the hilt shows that of a red, baleful eye.

Clearly the notched steel sword is his, and should be placed on the Sith statue:

Approach him to confirm that you used the correct sword, and give a persuasive light side character (alignment > 60) an opportunity to move (much) closer to the light side of the Force:

Spirit of Ajunta Pall: Yes... that is the one. That is the blade that destroyed me. Take it... take it and the other blades, even... take them and go. My darkness awaits me... 1. There's no need to remain here, is there? Spirit of Ajunta Pall: No... need? What choice have I? 1. You can return to the light side and end your torment. Spirit of Ajunta Pall: Return? But... I betrayed my old masters. They would never let me return to the light side. It is too late... too late...

It's easier to persuade him to return to the light side if you're very light (> 85) yourself:

1. [Persuade] I don't believe the light side would turn you away. You have suffered long enough.	1. [Persuade] I don't believe the light side would turn you away. You have suffered long enough.
Points Gained: +6 Spirit of Ajunta Pall: [Success] If... if I could return. Oh, my Master... it has been... so long... and I regret so much...

If you're not willing or able to persuade him then you can just go:

Otherwise, he'll attack you if you express your disappointment in him or command him to tell you more about the Star Map:

Regardless of the outcome, if you selected the correct sword:

The Sword of Ajunta Pall Your were able to select the blade that once belonged to the Sith Lord Ajunta Pall, and his spirit was grateful that the weapon would at last leave his side. The weapon is certainly an impressive one... but it might also serve as a relic that would impress Master Uthar.

The Sword of Ajunta Pall Having selected the wrong sword to place in the statue, the spirit of the Sith Lord, Ajunta Pall, went berserk and attacked you. The battle is over, and while you weren't able to select the correct sword initially it's possible one of the remaining swords *is* his blade... and would possibly suffice as a relic that would impress Master Uthar.

There are no typos: he is full of the Force, and the sword he uses is different to the sword you may have received (Damage Bonus: +4 Fire and Attack Modifier: +3, rather than Damage Bonus: +2 Fire and Attack Modifier: +5).

You can now open the door again, but as you return west and approach the exit to the Valley, Shaardan bars the way:

Shaardan: I saw you come in here and I rather figured you'd make it all the way to the sarcophagus. Good to see I wasn't wrong. Shaardan: So the spineless worm actually made it through the tomb? I'm impressed. 1. Shaardan? What do you want? Shaardan: Isn't it obvious? I've been hoping that someone would do the dirty work in retrieving the sword of Ajunta Pall for some time. It's been quite a wait. Carth: You wouldn't have considered, oh, I don't know... getting it yourself? Jolee: Hmph. Typical. Always ready to jump at what they perceive to be the easier path. HK-47: Warning: Touch the master's blade and lose an arm, meatbag. Shaardan: Now that you have it, I just thought I'd relieve you of it. It must be quite a burden, after all. 1. You're not taking anything from me. 2. No, I think I'll manage with it just fine. Kind of you to offer, though. 3. [Persuade/Lie] I don't know what you're talking about. What sword? Shaardan: Impressive bravado, I'm sure. Do you honestly think I would let an opportunity to impress Master Uthar pass me by so easily? Shaardan: Oh, but I insist. I'm not about to let a chance to impress Master Uthar pass me by. Shaardan: [Failure] Nice try. I may not know what the sword looks like, but I'm no gullible fool. I'm not about to pass up a chance to impress Master Uthar. Shaardan: I may like you well enough, but being a Sith is all about taking chances when the moment is right. So make it easier on both of us... hand over the sword. Shaardan: Especially not for a pathetic excuse for a Sith like yourself. Hand over the sword, worm. You know I'm the superior, here. 1. And if I don't? Shaardan: Isn't it obvious? You die. Rule of the Sith: only the strong and cunning shall survive. You won't be missed, trust me... now hand it over. 2. What are you going to give me for it? Shaardan: This isn't a negotiation. As much as I dislike ultimatums, I am afraid I must stoop. Hand over the sword or die.

You could give him the correct sword:

The Sword of Ajunta Pall You encountered Shaardan on the way out of Ajunta Pall's tomb and surrendered the spirit's blade to him. It probably wasn't worth fighting over, anyhow.

However, you lose an opportunity to gain prestige and experience. If you give him another sword, you avoid combat but can still gain prestige and experience later:

The Sword of Ajunta Pall On the way out of Ajunta Pall's tomb, you encountered one of your rivals: Shaardan. The Sith hopeful was actually dumb enough to take one of the spirit's false blades without closer examination. As for the real blade, that can probably be turned into Master Uthar, as well, unless you wish to keep it.

As ever, though, not giving him a sword results in combat and more experience:

Shaardan: Need to do things the hard way, hey? Fine by me.

I would fight you for the sword if I could, but I am hardly that stupid. You are clearly my better in that regard. Still, it would be wonderful if I could get a chance to study the artifact some day. Congratulations on its retrieval. Galon Lor: Are you joking with me? The Sith Lord still lives? 1. No, not exactly. Galon Lor: Oh, this is quite interesting. My mentor told me that Sith apparitions might be possible, but I never truly believed it! Thank you for the information! I must go and inform my mentor at once of this strange news! He leaves unless you tell him it isn't the sword: 4. No, this isn't the sword. You're quite mistaken. Galon Lor: Oh? Well, that is quite disappointing. From what I remember of the old databases, that looks so similar it's startling. I suppose the thought of actually finding the sword would be enough to get anyone excited. Ahhh, perhaps someday. If you speak to him again: Galon Lor: The runes here tell a fascinating tale of Ajunta Pall's life. I wonder how much of it is true?

Return to the academy and report to Master Uthar: if you gave Shaardan the wrong sword, you get the satisfaction of watching Master Uthar demonstrate his displeasure before you step over the corpse to give him the correct one yourself (if you haven't identified it, then he'll do so), gaining prestige and experience.

Uthar Wynn: Ahhh... what is this you bring me, Shaardan? Shaardan: It is none other than the sword of Ajunta Pall, Master. Uthar Wynn: Fool. All the trouble you went through for your deception, and you did not even make an effort to verify the sword's authenticity? Shaardan: M-master? What... what do you mean?
