Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic/Yavin Station

From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki

Yavin station is available on all systems, but only as downloadable content (DLC) on Xbox. It's inhabited by Suvam Tan, a Rodian inventor and merchant whose inventory includes some of the best items in the game; he also offers the best price by far for any items sold to him, so he should be your first port of call after leaving Dantooine, and any other time you want to sell unwanted items.

Yavin on the Galaxy Map

Only when you disembark can three of your party be asked if they know anything about this place - they don't:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Do you know anything about this place?
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: There's nothing I could say that would be helpful, I'm afraid. KotOR Icon Carth.png Carth: I don't really know much about this place, sorry. KotOR Icon Jolee.png Jolee: No more than you. Get going.

Ebon Hawk[edit]

You enter the Yavin station at the west end of its airlock. Using an access panel mounted on the south wall to the right opens the door behind you to the Ebon Hawk: similar access panels open three doors to the east. However, the first time you use the third panel to the east, the door doesn't open and the Rodian Suvam Tan appears on screen. The quickest way to get him to open the door is to persuade him to do so using the Force at the first opportunity:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Eh? Eh?! Who is that? What do you want? I recognize your ship... Davik's, isn't it? But who are you? You new or something?
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Yeah, I'm new. Very new. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I don't know what you're talking about. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Open this door or I'll blow my way in!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: You don't sound like a Trandoshan, and you're not one of Davik's... Who are you? What do you want?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. [Lie] I do work for Davik. link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 4. [Force Persuade] I do work for Davik.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: [Failure] Ha! Davik went down with Taris when the Sith destroyed it. That much I've learned from the local Exchange. So who are you? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: [Failure] Yes, now I do recog... no... wait. What the... ? I thought you might be, but no. Davik's gone now, destroyed on Taris. His people are all gone, too. So who are you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'm a Republic soldier. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I work for the Republic. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm trying to save the galaxy from the Sith.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Republic, eh? The Republic hasn't been here in 50 years... don't see why they'd start now. Still, I have nothing against the Republic, so as long as you don't get all worked up, I guess I can let you in. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Eh? Sith? They haven't been here in 50 years... not since the last war. Don't see why they'd start making a habit of it now... Still, all my business with the Sith is old news. Politics ain't my affair, so as long as you don't get all worked up, I guess I can let you in.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: It would be nice to have someone to talk to for a change... Trandoshans and smugglers aren't exactly stunning conversationalists.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Trandoshans and smugglers? What are you talking about?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: They come by here every once in a while, it's how I keep in the loop, you know. But Trandoshan lizard-speak is kind of hard to follow and they have pretty limited imaginations... Smugglers aren't much better either...
link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 3. [Force Persuade] Open this door. I am your friend. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Trandoshans and smugglers? What are you talking about? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What are you doing here? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I don't have time to stick around in this airlock... Let me in!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: [Success] Yes... I'll open the door for you, friend. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Look, this is getting kind of awkward through this door, if you'll just hold on a minute, I'll open this damn thing up and we can talk more face to face. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Yeah, yeah, don't get antsy, I'll get there. Just have to fiddle with this damn door lock... thing keeps jamming...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Just have to fiddle with this damn door lock... thing keeps jamming...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: There we go.

He returns to wander around his workshop beyond the door.

Suvam Tan, alone in his workshop... well, almost. Damn gizka...

The east wall is a window through which Yavin and one of its moons can be seen, blue and to the right: a short ramp leads up to it, and two other ramps lead up to doors in the north and south walls. If you try to use one of the access panels mounted beside each door on the east side:

Access Denied.

There's also a gizka, a little reptilian rabbit-like creature, in the workshop. Suvam Tan will comment on it if you don't speak to him:

Damn gizka...

You can interact with it, moving closer to the dark side if you kill it:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Pet the gizka. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 9. Leave it alone.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Kill the gizka.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. [Force Choke] KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. [Force Kill] KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. [Force Wound]
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 6. [Force Drain Life] KotOR Icon Dialog.png 7. [Force Shock] KotOR Icon Dialog.png 8. [Force Lightning]
Dark Side Points Gained: -2
Experience Points (XP) Received:

Once you've interacted with it in any way you can tell Suvam Tan:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I think you have gizka loose...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Yeah I know... Some damn smugglers must have brought them and one escaped. Good luck trying to get them all, though. Those things breed like... like gizka! If you see any around, just squish the damn thing!

Suvam Tan[edit]

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Hm... you don't look like I thought you would. Too... human. Don't see many of your kind out here at all anymore... not since the war at any rate. What brings you here?

To get down to business as quickly as possible, you should say it's none of his business, then that you'd like to ask him something else, but you're not really interested in more questions and you'll be leaving now, before speaking to him again. However, if you want to explore dialog that won't be available if you speak to him later, then do not ask him to tell you about this system; himself, what he's doing here or why did he come here to the station; Trandoshans, smugglers or 'something else':

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. None of your business, bug-eyes!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? No need to be rude. I was just trying to be friendly is all... You don't have to bite my head off. If you don't want to talk, then I don't really know what you're doing here. There's nothing really here in this end of space anymore.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Anymore? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I'd like to ask you something else.

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'm on a quest for the Jedi Council.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: The Jedi Council? Don't tell me you're a Jedi... you sure don't look it!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I AM a Jedi! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I am their only hope.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Now, now, I never said I doubted you, it's just... well, there aren't exactly a lot of Jedi wandering around these parts, not after what happened last time. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Only hope, eh? That's a lot of pressure to put on someone. I hope for their sake it's not misplaced.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What happened before? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: So if you don't mind saying, what exactly is the Council sending you out to do?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm trying to defeat Darth Malak. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. They have sent me to stop Darth Malak.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Darth Malak? Never heard of him... Or is he that new Sith Lord who's giving the Republic such a hard time now? I haven't been keeping up on recent news.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. He is the Dark Lord of the Sith. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. He is beating the Republic pretty badly.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: A new Dark Lord, is he? It always seems a new one pops up, no matter how many you kill... Your business with him is none of my business, of course, and I don't want to pry, but why are you way out here? Running? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Oh that... That always seems to happen to the Republic. They always seem right on the verge of defeat and then manage to spring back. I shouldn't worry so much. And even if they do lose... so what? It's not like it's going to affect me way out here. The ruins on Yavin IV are gone and nothing's left of Exar Kun, so the Sith have nothing to bring them here.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I am NOT running! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. When I... acquired the Ebon Hawk, it had the coordinates for your station. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. It matters to me!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? No, no, of course not. A big (wo)man like you? No, no. But why are you here in the middle of nowhere? The ruins? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Acquired, eh? Well figures Davik would be lazy enough to leave it in the nav computer... Didn't leave anything about this system, did he? Ancient ruins or anything? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Of course, of course, and I can see that you're starting to get all worked up about the whole thing, so I'll just leave it well enough alone. But why are you way out here? It's the middle of nowhere. Nothing to interest you here... unless you're looking for the ruins on Yavin IV.

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I seek the pieces of a map to a 'Star Forge'.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Mm... 'Star Forge'? Never heard of it. There's nothing in this system except ruins of Exar Kun's war...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Exar Kun? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. What are you doing here, then?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? What?
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Don't tell me you youngsters don't know anything about Exar Kun and that war... But then again, there've been a lot of... mm... troubles recently I've heard. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Why don't you know these things? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What ruins?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Well, you see, I'm kind of out of touch with the rest of the galaxy. I haven't left this system in almost 50 years, and this station in the last five, so... Hey! It's not a bad way to live! I have all the gadgets I need to tinker with and the smugglers and Trandoshans bring me food and interesting pieces of equipment! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Yavin's fourth moon used to hold a great number of temples dedicated to the ancient Sith. When Exar Kun came here 50 years ago, he used the temples in his effort to crush the Republic. He failed, obviously, and the Republic bombarded the surface almost into oblivion during their counter attack. Now all that's left are a lot of craters and a little bit of jungle. You could find stuff there for years afterwards, but I've got pretty much everything there was to find there. Mostly all I've been doing for the last couple years has been tinkering with what I've found there, getting some of it to work, and modifying the stuff the smugglers and Trandoshans bring me to look at.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What have you heard about the current war?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Only what the smugglers and Trandoshans have told me. A new Sith Lord has risen up to replace the dead one, and he's beatng the Republic up pretty bad. They didn't seem too displeased with that prospect.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Enlighten me about Exar Kun.

After any of those responses, this is the only time you can ask the following:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. You spend all your time here in this station? Alone?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Yes, of course! You don't see anyone else around, do you? Well, not entirely alone at any rate... Trandoshans or smugglers come by every so often and drop things off and pick some of my inventions up.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. Why did you come here to the station?

Otherwise, all remaining questions can be asked when you next speak to him:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: I was wondering when you'd want to talk again. What brings you here this time? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: What do you want? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 6. I'm not really interested in more questions right now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Sure, sure.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Do you have anything you'd be willing to sell me?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Yeah, I have a few things kicking around the place. Stuff the Trandoshans and smugglers have brought for me to look at, and a few things I've been making from parts. They aren't cheap, though. They pay a lot for what I can make, and anything I sell to you I can't exactly sell to them, now can I? But if you're willing to pay, I've got a few of my more advanced things you can look at. I'm always working on more, so you can check back some other time if I don't have what you want right now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Here, have a look.

However, before buying anything it's worth asking if he happens to play Pazaak and then defeating him 10 times for a 20% discount. If you're not willing or able to do that, then asking him a few questions to tell you about this system gives you a 5% discount if you can persuade him using the Force:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'd like to ask you a few questions. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Well, what do you want to know?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Tell me about this system.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Well this gas giant here is Yavin, and it's got a whole bunch of moons around it. The only really interesting one is Yavin IV, though, and it's been pretty much picked clean.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What about this station? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Why are you here?
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: This station is an old Republic supply depot from when they were fighting Exar Kun. Once they destroyed Yavin IV's surface, though, they didn't need it anymore. Once they'd gone, I decided to move in and use the place myself. It's not very roomy, but I think it's turned out all right. And it's close to Yavin IV, where I got most of my parts. Nobody comes here except the smugglers and Trandoshans anyway, so I get left alone the way I like it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. So you're from this system?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Well... not exactly. See, I'm not as young as I look. Actually, I'm pretty old by most standards. I've been here since the war, really.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Were you in the war? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Did you get brought here?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: The Sith were building a whole lot of temples on Yavin IV by Exar Kun's order, and they needed people to build it for them... so they got slaves. Most of the slaves were put to work on the buildings directly, but there are a lot of other things you need to make a planet a working base. Weapons, for instance. So they forced some Baragwin to work for them making weapons. You know Baragwin, right? And I was one of the ones working under the Baragwin. I guess you could say I had the talent for it. The Baragwin I worked for, he took me under his wing and made me his apprentice, even... But almost all of them died when the Republic destroyed the place, so I guess it's useless to think about it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Who are the Baragwin? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You were a slave?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: You don't know who the Baragwin are? They're the best damn weapons merchants in the galaxy, that's who they are! They were in space selling arms to the highest bidder before my species even got off our homeworld. Their weapons are the highest quality you can find, too. Better than either the Republic OR the Sith. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Well, yeah, kind of. More like forced labor, really. We worked, or we died. Life gets really simple when someone puts it to you like that. We didn't have it near as bad as the ones who were actually building the temples themselves, though. I wouldn't be surprised if not a single one saw the temples completed.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Do you have any Baragwin equipment?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: I might have a couple. You want to take a look?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Sure. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Not right now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Suit yourself, then.

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What was on Yavin IV?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: When Exar Kun started the Great Sith War 50 years ago, he used Yavin IV as a base, building a lot of his Sith temples there. When he lost, the Republic came and bombed the surface of the planet, destroying pretty much everything.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. 'Pretty much' everything? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. So what's with you and Yavin IV?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Well... you could still find a few things here and there on the surface. Some buried from the bombardment, some that look much, much older. I've been there a bunch of times and found pretty much all there was to find. I took them back here and tinkered with them a bit, getting them up and working, or improving them. I have a bunch you can look at if you're interested. Maybe... purchase?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Sure, what do you have? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Not right now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Suit yourself. Anything else you want then?
link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 3. [Force Persuade] You want to give me all your inventions. link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 3. [Force Persuade] Give them to me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: [Failure] I... What? No I don't! I don't know what you're trying to pull, but don't do it again! Now do you want to buy something or not? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: [Failure] Sure, I can just... What? No, no, I can't do that. You trying to trick me or something? Don't try stuff like that around here, kid. It won't work.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm not interested in that right now. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Let's see what you have. link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 3. [Force Persuade] You can cut me a deal.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Suit yourself, suit yourself. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: [Success] Well, yeah, sure, I guess I can. You have a good face I think.
Very dark (Alignment < 20) Suvam Tan: A little odd, perhaps... but good.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Here, have a look.

Otherwise, you can ask him to tell you about the Great Sith War and Exar Kun:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Tell me about the Great Sith War.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Not much to tell. The Sith Lord Exar Kun tried to take on the galaxy. He lost, of course. They always seem to.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Tell me about Exar Kun.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Exar Kun was a Jedi... to start at least. He came here to Yavin and landed on the fourth moon... the one you can see through the window. There were some ancient Sith temples there, and in them Exar Kun gained terrible powers. He raised the Sith and waged a war against the Republic... much like what seems to be happening today. But Exar Kun was far more powerful than any Sith Lord who has come since. The very ground trembled beneath his feet and when he looked at you, you just... just... But that's all in the past now. I've got my life of staying here and tinkering with the stuff I've found in the ruins and the things the Trandoshans bring me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Tell me about yourself.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Me? I'm nobody... doing nothing... I've been in this system for over 50 years, before this station was even built. I just sit around all day and tinker with this and that, trying out a few of my ideas.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Why did you come here? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Do you have any gadgets you'd be willing to sell me?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You're an inventor?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Maybe a little. I just tinker with stuff I've found lying around the ruins on Yavin IV, or that the Trandoshans and smugglers bring me. Of course, with them it's usually weapons and things... But I just have so many ideas that people haven't seemed to come up with yet. It's really quite astonishing.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. There's stuff on Yavin IV? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What kinds of things do you work on?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Well, there's the old ruins from Exar Kun's war on that moon. But I've been here over 50 years and I can tell you it's been picked pretty clean by now. If I haven't found it, it's not there. All that's left is rubble. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Oh, all kinds. Weapons, armor, implants, computers. My interests are as varied as the fields they apply to... which is just about everything, heh. I've scavenged what I could from the ruins on Yavin IV and I've been tinkering with it for a while.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Have you found anything useful?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Some. Some things I'm still tinkering with, trying to get them working. Mostly I modify some of the things the Trandoshans and smugglers bring me and make them work better.

You can also ask if he knows anything about ancient Star Maps or the 'Star Forge', how he knew Davik, and who are the smugglers and Trandoshans:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Do you know anything about ancient Star Maps or the 'Star Forge'?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Never heard of them, or it. There were plenty of artifacts on Yavin IV, but no Forges or whatever. If that's all you're interested in, you'll probably want to try another system.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. How did you know Davik?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: He used to come here every once in a while to trade. He worked for the Exchange... big-time smugglers. The Trandoshans didn't really want to get on his bad side, so they let it go. But now that he's gone, things are a bit more... uncertain.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Who are the smugglers?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Rodians, aqualish, Twi'leks, whatever... They all work an organization called the Exchange. You might have heard of them. They run smuggling operations all over the galaxy. Weapons, slaves, whatever someone's willing to pay the price for. They found my talents very useful. Like the Trandoshans, they get me to patch up and upgrade what they bring, and pay me well for it. They also bring news and supplies.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Who are the Trandoshans?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: The Trandoshans? Mercenaries and bounty hunters... Scum, mostly. They look like big two-legged lizards.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Oh. Sort of like Rodians.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: No! Nothing like Rodians! Trandoshans are ugly, disgusting creatures... but you'd never want to say that to their faces. Rip your head clean off, probably.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Why are they here? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. What do they want with you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: They found me here a couple years after the war ended. Usually they don't bargain with people they find alone in abandoned space stations, but we worked out a deal. I'd give them a few of my more... applicable inventions at reasonable prices, and they'd keep me supplied with food and new materials.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: It's worked out well so far, for years really. With Davik gone, they've been getting ideas, though. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Now it seems they might be trying for a power grab now that the Exchange is down... I don't know what's going to happen next, but it doesn't look good. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Now all bets are off. I have a few supplies tucked away, but I can't stay here forever. I know they'll be back as well. But that's something to think about another time.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Anything else you want to know?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I'll be leaving now. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Hm.. Well, suit yourself. I'll probably be here if you get back... Ha!

Pazaak Rules[edit]

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You don't happen to play Pazaak do you?
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Pazaak? The card game? Actually I do. One of the aqualish smugglers who comes by here regularly likes to play a bunch, and I kind of picked up the habit from him. I've actually gotten pretty good at it myself. I'll play you a couple rounds if you want. Be warned, though, I don't play for small amounts.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Sure, let's play. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Not right now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Right. This is going to be fun. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Well, suit yourself. Anything else you want?

If you don't have a Pazaak deck, it's easy to persuade him to give one using the Force:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I don't have a deck. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Can I buy a Pazaak deck off you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Hm... well I have a couple extras. I could sell you one for 100 credits. You want it? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Sure, it'll be 100 credits.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Here you go. link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 3. [Force Persuade] Give me the deck.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Thanks. Here's your deck. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: [Success] Damn, I don't really need the money anyway. Here, take it.
KotOR Icon Credits.png Credits Lost: 100
Item(s) Received Suvam Tan
  • Pazaak Deck
This is a standard Pazaak deck, complete with side deck cards.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Now I'll show you how to play.

Once you have a deck, you can play:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Interested in a hand of Pazaak?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Sure, if you want. I don't play for small amounts, though, so if you want to play, it's for keeps. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Sure, if you want. You've already proven that I'm no match for you, but if you want a few free games just to play...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Let's play. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Some other time.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tam: Eh? Sure, then. Some other time. Is there anything else you'd like right now?

Inventory[edit]

Suvam Tan's items cost a lot of credits, so it's worth getting a discount if at all possible: using the Force only persuades him to reduce costs by 5%, but 10 Pazaak wins result in a 20% discount which can save you thousands (perhaps even tens of thousands) of credits. Items can also be sold to for 65% of their base cost, which is 2.6 times higher than any merchant not on Taris (and still at least 62.5% more than those that are).

After acquiring a third Star Map, more items are added to inventory, any item bought is replaced and any sold is removed; the same applies after acquiring the fifth and final Star Map. If you don't travel here every time, you can simply enter and exit the Ebon Hawk to update.

Each time you return before acquiring a third Star Map:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: I was wondering when you'd want to talk again. What brings you here this time?

Third Star Map[edit]

If you return after acquiring a third Star Map, then you'll find Suvam Tan being confronted by two armed Trandoshans:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: That's not good enough, Suvam. We know you have more... and we want it now!
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: What? You can't just rewrite our agreement whenever you feel like it! The Exchange won't stand for it!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: The Exchange is in no position to dictate orders anymore, Suvam...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: Who's that?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: A stranger... You haven't been telling us everything, now have you, Suvam?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Tell you everything? What are you talking about? I don't have to clear everything through you!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What's going on here, Suvam?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: They're trying to extort me, that's what! They think that just cause the Exchange is gone, they can take whatever they want from me!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: We are... renegotiating our contract, Suvam.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I think you guys better leave. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. Leave. I'm not going to tell you a second time.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: Or what? You'll force us?
link=Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic}}/Force powers#Affect Mind 1. [Force Persuade] Leave. Now. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 6. I represent the Exchange. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Dead or alive, you're leaving. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Or I will ask you again. Very politely.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: [Success] We... leave... now. But we have not forgotten you, Suvam! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: The Exchange has no power over us, human! Our business is with Suvam alone. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. That's it. Now you die! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: You seek to mock us, human?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: No! No! Don't fight in here! You'll destroy everything!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: We'll be back, Suvam! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: We'll be back for you, human... and you as well Suvam.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Thank you for helping, but... I really don't think you should have provoked them like that. They can be... impulsive, sometimes. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Thank you for trying to help, but I don't think this ended very well at all. They can be... impulsive sometimes. They may be back in force...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Still, at least I ended up all in one piece, right?

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. If you're going to blast him, at least cut me in on something. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I'm just going to be leaving now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: I don't think so, human. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: A friend, Suvam? You try to hire others to reneg on our deal?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Our deal? You're the ones trying to break our deal!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: You know what we want, Suvam. Give it to us or next time we'll take it by force. Think on this before inviting any more of your 'friends'.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: The Trandoshans, they can be... impulsive sometimes. They mean well, though, really they do. The new ones have just been getting greedy is all... Still, at least I ended up in one piece, right?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Here, I'll let you look at some of the stuff I was saving for them. I'm definitely not going to give this to them now!

Each time you return before acquiring the fifth and final Star Map:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: It's a lot better seeing you than those Trandoshans again. There anything I can do for you now, though?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. What did those Trandoshans want?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: They want me to give them more of my inventions... stuff that I haven't even finished working on yet! Ever since Davik went down, the Exchange has been a non-factor in these parts. The Trandoshans are trying to muscle in on all the old Exchange businesses now. Maybe I can still work something out with them... Thank you for being here, though. It might have gone less... pleasantly if you hadn't shown up. Is there something else you want?

Fifth Star Map[edit]

If you return after acquiring the fifth and final Star Map, the Trandoshans are also back... in force:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Well, you're back. I was just taking a look at a few new things I thought you might like and I...

The Trandoshans decloak, and have you surrounded:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: You?? How did you get in here?!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: We have our ways, rodian. Just because you didn't hear us dock, doesn't mean we can't. And your own stealth units have proven most... effective.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What do you want? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Get away from Suvam! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Haven't I told you guys to get lost already? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: I think not, human. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: [Failure] I think not, human. Not this time.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Trandoshan: We're here to teach you a lesson, Suvam. And you as well, human. Unfortunately, you won't live to correct your mistakes.

Suvam Tan may be invulnerable but he still cowers in fear for the duration of the fight. All seven Trandoshans can use up to three Thermal Detonators each, so your first priority should be to move into melee range as soon as possible. The two Trandoshans flanking Suvam Tan to the east use two Vibroswords each:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Those Trandoshan scum! They couldn't get more out of me, so they tried to kill me instead! Hopefully, I'll have time before they send someone else to investigate... maybe rig their ship to take off somewhere else... Thank you for your help, at least. I know I couldn't have taken them on my own. I'll let you look at my special stash. It's the stuff I wasn't showing them. It won't be cheap, but if you want it, you can buy it.

If you return:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Eh? Oh, you're back again. Well, I don't know how much longer I'm going to be here. I keep thinking the Trandoshans will be coming back in force... and I don't want to be around when they do. I appreciate your help and all, but there's no way I can fight an army of those lizards, not even with your help.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: No, no, I'll be fine on my own. There's nothing that can be done sometimes, and I think I should move on anyway. This place is getting too old. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Hm... I don't rightly know, yet. I was thinking of maybe looking up some of my old Baragwin friends... if any of them are still alive. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: [Failure] Ha! No, no. I think I can handle them by myself. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: [Failure] Yes, I... No, no... What am I thinking of, I can't do something like that!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: I was thinking of maybe looking up some of my old Baragwin friends... if any of them are still alive.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: I managed to scavenge enough pieces to fit my ship out with a hyperspace drive, so I'll spend some time trying to find them on my own I think.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Now... what can I do for you?

Otherwise, after the following response you get another shot at the 5% discount if you can persuade him using the Force:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Good riddance!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: Eh? That's the kind of gratitude I get? Well, I should have expected it from you... I don't know how much longer I'll be here, so if you come around again and I'm gone, don't come looking. Hah! And don't expect me to leave all the good stuff lying around the place either. It's coming with me. If there's anything you want, now's the time to buy it 'cause there's no guarantee it'll be here next time.

Each time you return from now on:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Suvam Tan: I know those Trandoshan lizards are waiting to strike again. Just a matter of time. What can I do for you?
