Sigma 7

Although he's only been here since January, Sigma 7 has been very active, and has shown a good understanding for the standards by which we maintain the site. He's contributed large amounts to several guides, reverted vandalism and cleaned stuff up.

Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve StrategyWiki in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?

A: In general, I have been focusing on creating content and other cleanup tasks. As such, you may notice me participating in the related cleanup efforts pertaining to anti-vandalism (such as removing custom test/sandbox pages.)

2. Of your articles or contributions to StrategyWiki, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?

A: My greatest work involves Fallout 3/The Power of the Atom. My initial versions of the page contained basic information concerning the quest, and was later upgraded as I examined and researched the quest in more detail. By itself, a plain description of the quest isn't distinguishable, and as such, requires the appropriate finishing touches (e.g. a suitable in-game quotation.)

As for a full guide, Iji isn't quite there yet.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

A: Not within StrategyWiki; however, an example of this can be found within Wikipedia.

• Wikipedia:Talk:Mousepad - specifically on an [RFC]. At the time, I was an uninterested third-party editor who simply believed an anonymous editor was either misreading a reference or didn't have it completed. While the main editors involved stated their referenced clearly, the sole anonymous editor insisted on a conspiracy of plagiarism and harassment. The end result was that I requested the addition of the questioned link to an anti-spam bot, in combination with a sysop performing a long-term protection of the page from unregistered users - the reason was that the user did not show any intention of compromising or at least substantiating his claim.
• Wikipedia:Over the Hedge (film) - In March 2007, one user was making an announcement for "Over the Hedge 2" being released "soon"; these changes were initially reverted as uncited, and later as pure vandalism. While the page was protected for a short time, the user engaged in the creation of multiple accounts and usage of Dynamic IP addresses in order to avoid blocks, and where that user decided to harass other editors by removing content or demanding page creation. I even got a star out of it, but that's self-promotion.

In both cases, the users were given ample opportunity to properly explain themselves, but chose a purely disruptive route. As such, the only necessary action was simply to block the changes as they are detected.

General comments

• As you can tell, I am a veteran with Wikipedia, later moving here after exploring other sites within the Wikimedia foundation (and discovering StrategyWiki being lined to from Wikibooks.) As was mentioned, I was only here since Janurary 2009, the equivalent of a rookie compared to the age of this Wiki, but still a mature editor from other sites.
