Chun-Li was one of the original eight selectable World Warriors from the first Street Fighter II. In the Alpha series prequel, she is depicted as a younger fight who shows a lot of promise as the warrior she will eventually become. She hasn't quite mastered the difficult Spinning Bird Kick, but the development of it can be seen in her Sen'en Shuu attack. Beginning in Street Fighter Alpha 2 players can opt to select her in her original Street Fighter II outfit instead of her Alpha athletic gear. In Street Fighter Alpha 3, this outfit is only and always available when players chose her X-Ism form.
Chun-Li was an Interpol investigator who had been searching for clues to the recent death of her father. Getting into a friendly spar with an old teacher of hers and friend of her father, Gen, he gives her a lead into who may have killed her father—the mysterious crime syndicate Shadoloo. Finding its leader, M. Bison, she demands he tell her what happened to her father. To her surprise, Bison attacks and basically makes quick work of her, then flies away, laughing at her and telling her if she attacks him again he will kill her just like he did her father. With tears in her eyes, Chun-Li swore vengeance.
Chun-Li teamed up with an United States Air Force member, Charlie, to try to track and take down Shadoloo. She then ran into someone she would not have expected at all. It was Charlie's good friend and fellow lieutenant, Guile. Telling Guile he should not get in over his head and to leave the two be, Chun-Li learns he has orders to bring Charlie back. Attempting to use force to stop him, she instead finds herself defeated; nonetheless, she insists that she and her partner be left alone, to which Guile replies that he will never abandon friends in need. Eventually, learning that Bison tricked the Air Force into cancelling the planned bombing of the main Shadoloo base, she rushed over to the two soldiers to tell them they were tricked and would have to destroy the base on their own. Chun-Li proceeded to plant bombs about the base as Charlie and Guile headed inside to destroy the Psycho Drive, but Guile then came rushing out, grabbing Chun-Li and telling her Charlie had urged both of them to get away. Along the way, Chun-Li saw a young girl escaping with several others (who turned out to be Cammy leading the dolls away from the base). Despite being distraught over the initial lack of evidence to prove Shadoloo's crimes, Interpol and Chun-Li managed to shut down much of the evil crime empire.
Chun-Li's grace and agility give her the ability to jump backwards into a wall, and quickly push herself off of it, reaching higher distances from the floor, giving her a certain aerial advantage over many opponents.
Kouhou Kaiten Kyaku
With this move, Chun-Li raises her leg to kick her opponent, and then literally performs a backflip off of the opponents body.
Kaku Kyaku Raku
To perform this move, Chun-Li jumps high into the air with a forward flip, intended to come down and land on top of an opponent with her falling heel.
Yousou Kyaku
In conjunction with the aerial superiority that the Sankaku Tobi ability give her, Chun-Li can execute this attack by jumping into the air and pushing one leg down to the ground, literally stomping on her opponents as she lands. If she connects with this attack, she will bounce back up into the air where she can perform another attack, including another Yousou Kyaku.
Hyakuretsu Kyaku
After years of training, Chun-Li has the ability to keep her balance on one foot while rapidly kicking into the air with the other. Chun-Li can kick so quickly, that the kicks appear as a giant blur of motion. While it can be used to keep ground opponents at bay, it is not very practical against airborne opponents.
Kikouken
Chun-Li summons all of her ki into her palms and pushes it outward with both with both hands, fingers lined up straight (as opposed to Ken and Ryu's curled fingers). Unlike the Hadouken, the Kikouken dissipates as it travels. The slower it travels, the longer it lasts.
Sen'en Shuu
Chun-Li flips into a handstand then does a downwards kick on her opponents. Chun-Li would later learn to use the Hazanshu, an improved version of this move.
Tenshoukyaku
Intended as an anti-air attack, Chun-Li squats down before pushing herself off the ground and rising with a series of alternating kicks, each one taking her higher into the air.
Sou Hakkei
Chun-Li loses her Kikouken projectile in X-ism and gains this. She pushes both hands with her palms open. Opponents are powerfully flung across the stage.
Spinning Bird Kick
Chun-Li will jump into a handstand before pushing off the ground with her hands, twisting them as she leaves the ground. This gives her body enough rotational momentum to spin over the ground with both legs extended outwards for a short distance like a helicopter. Opponents who are caught within the range of her feet are frequently hit multiple times before being knocked down. Chun-Li is hasn't mastered the move during the Alpha timeline, and it is only usable in her X-ism outfit. Chun-Li also gains the ability to use it in the air.
Senretsu Kyaku
After storing up a lot of energy, she can release it by propelling herself forward with multiple kicks before launching into a high-powered version of the Hyakuretsu Kyaku. If an opponent is hit by any part of this attack, they are almost always sucked in by the rest of it. The amount of kicks she does before her Kyakuretsu Kyaku is dependent on the level of her super.
Kikoshou
Chun-Li has developed her ki abilities to the power of a super. She concentrates all of her ki and releases it in a swirling ball. Opponents have to be close enough to be hit but can get hit a lot. The number of hits depends on the level of the super.
Hazan Tenshoukyaku
Chun-Li does a powered up version of her Tenshoukyaku, kicking the opponent up multiple times. The number of hits is dependent to the level of the super.
