Click here for more information about Dee Jay's other fighting game appearances.

Dee Jay, known as "The Southern Comet", is a cheerful kickboxer who fights to musical rhythm. Eventually, he becomes a music star, though he still has time to enter the second World Warrior tournament to find some new rhythm for his songs.

Dee Jay's cheerfulness has him smiling constantly and he has a thumbs-up gesture. He wears orange loose drawstring pants with yellowish-white lettering that reads "MAXIMUM" and orange sparring gloves. His hairstyle is a braided mohawk with a letter "M" on each side of his head which stands for "MAXIMUM." Dee Jay is also seen in the anime movie and some art to be wearing a Caribbean chain necklace.

Dee Jay is the only character in the series to be designed by Capcom USA. He was designed by James Goddard, who modeled Dee Jay after martial arts film star Billy Blanks. Dee Jay's braided mohawk also resembles Blanks's role as Khan in The King of the Kickboxers. Dee Jay is one of the few Street Fighter characters not to be directly associated with or tied in to the official storyline. Dee Jay is the only Caribbean fighter in the Street Fighter series.

Techniques

Name Description
Knee Shot Dee Jay's normal aerial Light Kick is a high kick. But if you hold the joystick down when you press Light Kick in the air, Dee Jay will instead extend his knee and use it attack on his way back down to the ground.
Air Slasher Best compared to Guile's Sonic Boom (or better yet, Charlie's one arm Sonic Boom), Dee Jay brings his arm back before slashing the air with his fist so quickly that a wave of compressed air flies forward towards the opponent.
Double Rolling Sobat Dee Jay, being a very rhythmic fighter, has incorporated dance moves into his kickboxing style, allowing him to hop across the ground twice while rotating, ending in an extended high kick after the final hop.
Machine Gun Upper Dee Jay has developed a trap move that allows him to attack with a rapid series of uppercuts from a crouching position. After Dee Jay charges up his energy, he is able to release it but repeatedly pelting the opponent with punches, ending in a final blow that knocks the opponent away.
Jackknife Maximum After crouching and storing energy, Dee Jay is able to propel himself off of the floor, twisting his body and executing a series of high kicks with each spin. Similar in many ways to the new move that Chun-Li receives in Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
Sobat Carnival Dee Jay's super move is a series of consecutive sobat kicks. He releases stored up energy by rotating quickly around, executing two back to back Double Rolling Sobats for a maximum of four hits.
