Hidden Challengers

Fight against Devilot

Devilot will appear as a hidden challenger before your 7th opponent, if you meet all of these conditions without any continues or challengers:

1. Finish at least 1 round under 60 seconds.
2. Create a Chain Reaction of 4 or higher.
3. Your biggest Power Gem must consist of 20 Gems or higher.
4. Complete at least 1 round with a Super Finish (30+ Counter Blocks).

Fight against Dan (PlayStation & Sega Saturn only)

Dan will appear as a hidden challenger before your 7th opponent, if you meet all of these conditions without any continues or challengers:

1. Take more than 60 seconds to complete every round.
2. Create a Chain Reaction no greater than 3.
3. Your biggest Power Gem must not contain more than 19 Gems.
4. Do not finish any round with a Super Finish (30+ Counter Blocks).

Arcade

Play as Akuma

1. Player 1 must highlight Ryu. Player 2 must highlight Ken. Press and hold the Start button.
2. Player 1 must move down to Morrigan and enter: (and hold it). Player 2 must move down to Felicia and enter: (and hold it).
3. While holding Start and back, press any button.

Play as Dan

1. Player 1 must highlight Ryu. Player 2 must highlight Ken. Press and hold the Start button.
2. Player 1 must move down to Morrigan. Player 2 must move down to Felicia. Once there, tap 13 times, and hold the last tap.
3. While holding Start and down, press any button.

Play as Devilot

1. Player 1 must highlight Ryu. Player 2 must highlight Ken. Press and hold the Start button.
2. Player 1 must move down to Morrigan. Player 2 must move down to Felicia. Once there, tap 13 times, and hold the last tap.
3. While holding Start and down, press any button when the countdown timer reaches 10.

PlayStation & Sega Saturn

Play as Akuma

1. Player 1 must highlight Morrigan. Player 2 must highlight Felicia. Press and hold the or button.
2. Player 1 must enter: . Player 2 must enter: .
3. While still holding or , press any button.

- OR -

1. Complete the Street Puzzle Mode that unlocks Akuma's secret Select code.
2. Press and hold or on the character select screen, and press any button.

Play as Dan

1. Player 1 must highlight Morrigan. Player 2 must highlight Felicia. Press and hold the or button.
2. Player 1 must enter: . Player 2 must enter: .
3. While still holding or , press any button.

- OR -

1. Complete the Street Puzzle Mode that unlocks Dan's secret Select code.
2. Press and hold + or + on the character select screen, and press any button.

Play as Devilot

1. Player 1 must highlight Morrigan. Player 2 must highlight Felicia. Press and hold the or button.
2. Player 1 must enter: . Player 2 must enter: .
3. While still holding or , press any button when the timer reaches 10.

Play as Mei-Ling

1. Player 1 must highlight Morrigan. Player 2 must highlight Felicia.
2. Press and hold the or button.

4. While still holding or , press any button.

Play as Anita

1. Player 1 must highlight Morrigan. Player 2 must highlight Felicia.
2. Press and hold the or button.

4. While still holding or , press any button.

Select background stage

In Versus Mode, after the handicaps are selected, press and hold ++, or press and hold ++ and one of the following:

Select hidden characters

Character	Method
Devilot	Highlight Morrigan and push down.
Akuma	Highlight Hsien-Ko and push down.
Dan	Highlight Donovan and push down.
Mei-Ling	Highlight Hsien-Ko, press and hold either shoulder button (both on PSP), and select her.
Anita	Highlight Donovan, press and hold either shoulder button (both on PSP), and select him.
Cursed Bat	Highlight Morrigan, press and hold either shoulder button (both on PSP), and select her.

Extra moves

Some characters can be selected in such as way as to give them extra attack animations. This is no way changes the core gameplay of Puzzle Fighter, it is only for visual amusement. Only Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Chun-Li, Felicia, and Akuma can be augmented in this way. Highlight any one of them, press and hold either shoulder button (both on PSP), and select them. (Doing this with Morrigan, Hsien-Ko, and Donovan selects alternate characters. Doing this with Dan or Devilot has no effect.)
