Talk:E.V.O.: Search for Eden

From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki

This is not a role-playing video game[edit]

This video game is considered an RPG just because there are experience points. It lacks every other feature of RPGs, though.

  1. Is text necessary? Does the character interacts (talks) with NPCs? Not at all, actually, there are no NPCs at all.
  2. Is there any degree of non-linearity? No, all stages have to be cleared in the specified order and cleared stages cannot even be revisited (like in action platformer video games).
  3. Are there permanent upgrades of the character attributes? Not really, the experience points are used to evolve, but also to revert back to previous evolutionary stages, and all the upgrades are reset at the beginning of every chapter. --Abacos (talk) 16:05, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Well, you can choose your evolution and you earn points to upgrade individual body parts, but yeah it's not much of an RPG. I doubt anyone would care if you removed that designation. — Najzere · Talk 16:20, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
