Separating[edit]

Hello dear users.

I think it'll be best if we separate this game from D/P for the very simple reason that the game has serious plot changes.

The whole beginning is different, the gyms has been reordered and the main villain has changed. Not to mention the new map (Ruined World) and that Dialga and Palkia both appear before Giratina does.

The difference is bigger then comparing Crystal to S/G or Yellow to R/G/B.

Awaiting your response. I added a tag on the main game as well. DorTheGamer 20:21, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

I agree, with the changes in storyline (First pokemon on Rt201 rather than Verity lakefront) as well as obtains of pokemon (Rotom available after Gardenia rather than post Elite-4) Samdiatmh 04:10, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, it looks like all we have to do is add the unique walkthrough pages for this game and modify the table of contents a bit. I assume all of the items and pokemon remain the same? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:28, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, but unlike yellow to blue, platinum has very different features, differet places for several pokemon, even different gym order. some pages can be COPIED from DP, but we shouldn't LINK to pages from DP because the "next" and "previous" pages might not be correct for platinum. --DorTheGamer 08:10, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
If it's just a matter of pages being out of order, there is no need to copy the whole guide. New additions are also fairly easy to handle. I guess another question is, how much is the same? -- Prod (Talk) 21:56, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, the Pokemon are roughly the same (even though there are some unique Pokemon in the grass found only in platinum), the gym leaders are the same (even though their order is different), I'm not sure if the leaders' Pokemon are different. The engine and main plot are roughly the same, but that's about it. --DorTheGamer 09:29, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm not far in Platinum at all, but have heard from a friend that all of the standard puzzles at the beginning of each gym are also very different. If any obtained attacks are different that should be covered in bulbapedia so we should not have to worry about that detail at least.--Zaiqukaj 09:58, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
The footer nav's can be modified so that they have a D/P next/prev link and a platinum next/prev link (example). Different pokemon available in grassy areas is already demonstrated in the red/blue guide, and can be used for gym leaders as well. How complex are the intro puzzles? -- Prod (Talk) 19:12, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Eterna = Clock Thing in centre, Hearthome = Very Different (Some Maze Thing where you have to find a blue shape and then proceed to the red shape), Veilstone = Punching Bags, All others = Same, Most leader's pokemon are more-or-less the same, with the differences being on Bulbapedia Samdiatmh 07:30, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
