Overworld maps
  • Overworld maps have grid coordinates, but are in table rows/colums just outside of the image. Currently, it is slightly misaligned, misrenders in Opera, and may experience trouble in older browsers that do not rescale images with font size. Recommendation is to move these grid coordinates into the image. Maps remaining: Overworld Sector 1, Overworld Sector 2, Overworld Sector 3, Overworld Sector 4, Overworld Sector 5, Overworld Sector 6, Overworld Sector 7, and Overworld Sector 8.
  • In the description tables below the overworld maps, text is used to describe the contents of the cell. For shops, images could be used to make them stand out.
  • Add 2nd quest overworld maps.
Dungeon maps
  • Individual dungeons maps should have coordinates. Given the walkthrough requires going through a maze-like dungeon, it may get a little confusing when you make a wrong turn. Applies to First Quest's Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Level 5, Level 6, Level 7, Level 8 and Level 9, and Second Quest's Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Level 5, Level 6, Level 7, Level 8 and Level 9
  • If the outside of a dungeon contains a secret (like a pushable block), a high-res image of that area is be useful.
Bosses
Verification
  • Test the walkthrough under "normal-play". Current progress: Second quest, dungeon 4.
  • Check for differences between the overworld map listed in the guide and a third party.

Wii Game[edit]

Hadn't realized that, should have thought about it. Thanks for correcting me Garret. :) -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 21:14, 19 September 2006 (CDT)

Do we really want to list all of the games avaliable in the Wii Virtual Console as Wii games? I almost removed the category on this page myself until I read the discussion page. It might be helpful to users to have a category for Virtual Console games, and I suppose this category could be a subset of Wii games. Also, we don't need to follow Wikipedia on this, but they have seperate categories for Wii games and Wii Virtual Console games, all under a single (general) Wii category. --inarius 11:28, 28 September 2006 (CDT)

It just occurred to me to check the Xbox 360 page, and Live Arcade games are listed under a subcategory, and not directly attributed to the parent category. I will go ahead and replicate this behavior on the Wii page. --inarius 11:34, 28 September 2006 (CDT)

Full sized maps[edit]

This Strategy Wiki page has maps for all the levels in Zelda along with detailed instructions on how to get through the levels. However if in addition to this you want Full Sized High Detail Zelda Maps for all the levels in The Legend of Zelda you can get them at NESMaps. In addition there is an interactive map of the overworld with animated enemies. -- Snesmaster 00:17, 22 February 2007 (CDT)

My main contribution to the gaming world is creating maps for SNES and NES games. This is a hobby of mine. Unfortunately the image files are too large to put directly on Strategy Wiki. I would like to contribute them, and I'm sure gamers would find them useful.

Right now the only way I know how to include these large images is to provide an external link. Also one of the Zelda maps is in Flash as a .swf file and this site does not support .swf (flash) files. If any one knows a better way around this other then trying to provide external links please let me know.

I tried posting the link on Wikipedia for Zelda and they tell me that type of link belongs in Strategy Wiki. And here I hear, those kind of links should go on Wikipedia and not here. I would love to put the maps directly on Strategy Wiki without needing to link to them. If anyone has suggestions let me know. If a way is not found to put them directly on Strategy Wiki, I would like permission to link to them. Thanks for your time. Snesmaster

You can still download large images that exceed the recommended limit, it is just not recommended. When putting them on pages, just scale them down so they fit on the page. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 21:00, 21 February 2007 (CST)
That won't solve his flash problem. Snesmaster, I brought this matter up for discussion on the Community Issues page, so let's see what the reaction is like. Procyon 21:06, 21 February 2007 (CST)

Release Date[edit]

On the Zelda Collector's Edition disc for GameCube if you go to Zelda and press Z to show info it says "Released: July, 1987." I assume it's for the U.S., but hm, where is our current one from? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:18, 20 August 2007 (CDT)

It would appear that the current release date that is put up would be from GameSpot, according to the Wikipedia article. The official Zelda site also says that the release date is July 1987 as well.[1] So what do we do?Flagrama 22:58, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Nearing completion[edit]

I've checked over the guide, and after adding resupply information from the dungeons, I don't see much further room for improvement. Given that this guide appears to be heavily examined for flaws, is there any comments to promotion to Featured Quality? --Sigma 7 19:36, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Nope, nominate it! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 01:49, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm all for it if you want to nominate it. I don't nominate guides that I've personally worked on, but I'll definitely support it. Procyon 02:26, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Is there a reason the 1st quest dungeons aren't using the names for them from the LoZ manual (Eagle, Moon, Manji, etc)? From browsing most of the pages and reading the unsuccessful bid on bringing it to class 5/Featured status; I think a set of images in a chart format appearing beside the map could be used. Sort of a map legend, have the boss, map, compass, key, and item sprites with the number found in the dungeon-or what rooms they are in such as A-5, B-3 etc. As such an old game, the listed walkthrough is basically the best possible presentation. Any filler would just end up being flavor text. So I have no clue on how to address that point. Axiomist 11:09, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
The first dungeon names could have the names used, but technically, the dungeons were referenced by number in-game. As such, either method is acceptable, but it may cause the walkthrough look a bit strange when it references the Quest 1 names but not the Quest 2 ones. But in any case, I think the map coordinates are a bit more important, as it may be easy to lose track of your position in the list format used within the guide. --Sigma 7 13:58, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Any chance of conjectural titles for Quest 2? No, not total fanon, but for the letters, name them after the Greek characters (Episilon, Lambda, Alpha, Zeta, & Delta), for 6, 7, & 8 possibly the terms (Hexa, Septa, Octo} or any other ordinal name based on their numerical in-game appearance? I'm proposing a similar structure at Zelda Wiki.org in our skype chats. I'm not too determined to make the name changes here, just bringing them up for a discussion. I'm mainly trying to get my bearings on the site by working on a few existing articles before creating the all-new ones. I can't imagine canon being a sticking point here as much as at ZW. Although while comparing some enemy names and other things for ALttP, I was thinking to strive for more consistency between each wiki. Axiomist 06:03, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
