I REALLY think it would be worthwhile to merge this cover page with the TOC. This is how I think it should look. If it's moved the intro and TOC red links will work. Since this is the "feature guide" it should be the most easy to navigate, and with a cover page, it simply isn't. Tell me what you think. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 14:40, 23 May 2006 (PDT)

Hm. Why not just eliminate the cover part altogether? GarrettTalk 14:47, 23 May 2006 (PDT)
Sounds good, I'm going ahead with it then. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 19:01, 23 May 2006 (PDT)
Better for navigation, but it looks really ugly. You should merge the introduction page at the top, like Super Smash Bros. Melee. --blendmaster 19:57, 23 May 2006 (PDT)
I could see how merging the TOC and the introduction would be better. What we did was merging the cover page with the TOC, but furthur merging might look even better and it would still be very easy to navigate if the TOC/cover page was merged with the intro as well. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 19:10, 29 May 2006 (PDT)
Ok, how about now?--blendmaster 10:58, 15 June 2006 (PDT)

What game navigation are we using?

What happened to Template:Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time_Nav? I saw that it was replaced with Template:Zelda:_OOT_walkthrough_nav. Personally, I think having nav links in the main body makes the links more inaccessible and the article seem more jumbled, but perhaps that's just me. I think we should have more discourse on this matter. What are the pros/cons of each method? echelon... 22:14, 25 May 2006 (PDT)

Well, Template:Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time_Nav was on every page of the walkthrough which was to be honest incredibly ugly looking and very jumbled. compare the one with the ZOotNav to the one with the walkthrough nav I created. The edit (your edit) that added the other template said "new sidebar navigation" but all I see when I look at it is a massive bulleted/numbered list above what is useful information. If it is meant to provide a well designed sidebar nav then that's great but it is not what I see and probably not what most users would see (using up to date Firefox). So I created that walkthrough nav. I'm not sure how your sidebar nav was supposed to work but I don't see how having an organized and yet condensed nav providing all the links a person looking for a walkthrough would need is jumbled. I based the concept off of the FF7 guide at IGN (you might need insider to view it). It's very easy to navigate and looks very nice. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 19:08, 29 May 2006 (PDT)
Wait, are you using Monobook or something? This is what it looks like in BlueCloud (as opposed to like this in Monobook). Currently there are no includes for Monobook so I can't patch it. If you are using BlueCloud you need to hard-refresh MediaWiki:Bluecloud.css and MediaWiki:Bluecloud.js. GarrettTalk 01:46, 30 May 2006 (PDT)
Well that's cool, I like that, it just didn't show up anywhere for me because I am using monobook. Couldn't you edit the common.css as it is edited on wikipedia, or does it need js too? I realize blue cloud is the default, but the majority of wiki users are most familiar with monobook (since it is the default on wikipedia), and implementing something that looks horrible on monobook just because it looks good on the default here doesn't seem like a good option, you know? Until it can be worked out to work on most skins (if not all), I think an alternative would be better, don't you? Not like we'll delete the other zelda nav, but use something compatible with all until we get something better that's compatible with all. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 12:08, 30 May 2006 (PDT)
The only skin I can change from MediaWiki: pages at the moment is BlueCloud. I guess using a more compatible template in the meantime makes sense. I'll have to bug echelon about adding support for Common and Monobook. GarrettTalk 13:53, 30 May 2006 (PDT)
You can change MediaWiki:Monobook.css can't you? As well as MediaWiki:Monobook.js? -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 14:08, 30 May 2006 (PDT)
Oh I'm stupid. Yes when using Monobook those do work. I'll have a look. I hope Live Preview's working. GarrettTalk 15:46, 30 May 2006 (PDT)

I finally got a sight of what this was supposed to be and it is quite cool. I have no problem with removing my template now if we are going to put these in, is that the plan? -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 19:03, 2 June 2006 (PDT)

I've been out awhile, and I won't officially be back until the 13th, but I wanted to leave a note about an idea I wanted to pursue that I think will fix this: I really like Template:Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time_Nav, and it looks excellent on the BlueCloud skin. However, the problem that Mason brought up is a big one; on skins other than BlueCloud, the sidenav doesn't work at all. I think I have an idea of how we can fix this: if we provide two versions of the navigation for each article, one like the sidenav and one in the fashion of Template:Zelda:_OOT_walkthrough_nav, then javascript can be used to determine which to display; on the BlueCloud skin, Sidenav gets displayed, on MonoBook, etc. the topnav is displayed. On print pages, the navigation bar can be eliminated altogether. What do you think of this solution? echelon... 13:55, 9 June 2006 (PDT)
I assume you are suggesting you can do the javascript to make it work. I think it'd be a great idea and would be very useful. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 22:59, 9 June 2006 (PDT)

Rename to - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Why is it just Zelda? It's only ever referred to as 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' and it would give a chance to create a group of series pages when the wiki becomes used more.

(^-- That was Thejoemeister. Please sign your comments in future.) I think it was originally titled with the full name, but moved because the name was "too long". If you look, the full name page redirects here. --DrBob (Talk) 09:01, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
I don't see why a shorter name should be used, if people don't want to type the whole name into the search, then this can just redirect there. The pages should be the true game title, regardless of what it's called. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 09:17, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
I'm going to agree with Mason11987 here. It would be best to use the full name of each game and redirect any common shortened names to that page. There is no problem with a long name except for typing it in to find the page, and the redirects would solve that.--Dukeruckley 09:39, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
I'm also going to agree with Mason here. (I was only the messenger.) --DrBob (Talk) 10:17, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
You guys are right. Zelda: Ocarina of Time is incorrect. We'll rename it and keep the redirect. echelon 11:07, 26 June 2006 (PDT)

image gallery?

Whats it supposed to be for? --blendmaster 14:57, 23 July 2006 (CDT)

There were a load of OoT images in Special:Unusedimages, so I put them here. Since I know nothing about the game (or the images), I couldn't put them in the relevant sub-pages, but I'd encourage you to if you know what to do. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 16:43, 23 July 2006 (CDT)
The slingshot image (removed from gallery) has now been used. --inarius 14:16, 2 October 2006 (CDT)

Some more unused images have been added to the gallery. Would somebody in the know please sort them out? --DrBob (Talk) 04:51, 29 October 2006 (CST)

I'm going to mark the swim one for deletion - I think its only use would be to show what the "Dive" message of the A button looks like when you are swimming around. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 14:23, 30 July 2008 (CDT)
I've found places to put many of those unused images and now there's just one left. It's been over two years, but they're finally used! --Superpowered Mario 20:45, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Sidequests

Should they be included in with the main guide or at the end of each section. Check out this diff. -- Prod (Talk) 21:39, 21 November 2006 (CST)

I'd say both. It's great to know about a sidequest item at the very point when you can find or use it, and it's also good to be able to review sidequests before you leave the area (or are just revisiting for that purpose). GarrettTalk 15:00, 22 November 2006 (CST)
If sidequests, and only sidequests are put in the sideboxes then that would satisfy both purposes, without duplicating information. -- Prod (Talk) 15:27, 22 November 2006 (CST)

Glass Containers

I notice that the glass bottles don't seem to have been given much consideration. They're not listed at all on the equipment list, nor is there a special marker to indicate that a certain sidequest allows you to obtain it. --RubyDragon 19:47, 22 June 2007 (CDT)

Then add them in. You don't need anyone's permission to do so. I'd actually give them their own page though, so put them here. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 19:50, 22 June 2007 (CDT)

Rupee Information

From a brief look at the ToC and items page, I see no information related to rupees (occurrences and values). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:00, 10 June 2008 (CDT)

Collaboration of the Month.

Since it's now the guide that needs editing, I've also own a game guide made from Prima. It's now stage 3 and I just want to know what else this guide needs because it already has everything and there's a few pages that's not needed at all. Mainly graphical upgrades. Nevetheless, this should be an easy job for me. If you know what it needs, put it in or add your ideas here and I'll see what I can do. Johnnyauau2000 03:33, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

One of the suggested changes is reducing the excessive amount of images on several pages (e.g. The Beginning). The galleries especially should be able to be replaced with paragraph text and a picture or two at the side. --Garrett (talk) 03:44, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Update: I have split the previously colossal Items page into Equipment, Items and Upgrades and redesigned their layout. I have fixed all current links, but new links will now need to point to the appropriate page. They are also currently missing section links. --Garrett (talk) 04:50, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Even though it's done well with the exception of the Master Quest, my only question whether it's up to date or not. I'm sure you play the game a thousand times and have a hard time how to solve a puzzle. You should see if anything else is left out if you're not fatigued at the moment. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Johnnyauau2000 (talkcontribs) .
It's been years since I played Ocarina of Time, so I can't really help in that regard, sorry. :( --Garrett (talk) 23:33, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
My apologies for the ridiculous image uploads. I personally think that an image should point out something easily missed in a dungeon, or show a tactic toward a miniboss/boss. I'm not uploading any more images since they're too object to criticism and I've been chewed out for that. If you can set a cap on the images, I'll delete the "junkpile." Right now, can anyone give suggestions on that gap of instruction in Gerudo's Fortress?--|Superpowered Mario 19:18, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
