The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, known in Japan as Mickey Mouse (ミッキーマウス?) is a 1989 puzzle game developed by Kemco for the Game Boy. It is the first Game Boy game in Kemco's Crazy Castle series, and the second after the NES release of The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, which was originally released as Roger Rabbit for the Famicom Disk System. Before the worldwide release of Bugs Bunny in Crazy Castle 4, this game was re-released in Japan as Bugs Bunny Collection.

Gameplay[edit]

The object of the game is to guide Bugs through a series of rooms collecting carrots to advance through the levels. However, four other Looney Tunes characters are wandering the castle in a bid to stop Bugs: Sylvester, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, and Wile E. Coyote. The enemies in the original Mickey Mouse version are Zeke Wolf, Peg-Leg Pete, March Hare and Vulture. Zeke Wolf (Sylvester) can climb stairs and crawl into pipes, whereas the other three just walk back and forth on platforms.

The game includes a total of 80 stages: 41 stages from Kemco's Roger Rabbit (FDS) (localized as The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle for NES), plus 39 new stages. In each stage, Mickey Mouse (or Bugs Bunny) must dodge the enemies and collect 8 hearts (or carrots). The puzzle side of the game consists in dodging the enemies and use the sparse items to defeat just some of them.

While presented in a side-scroller format, Crazy Castle differs from standard side-scrollers such as Super Mario Bros. in that Bugs Bunny does not have the ability to jump; therefore, only by taking different routes can Bugs avoid enemies. Some of the levels have boxing gloves, invincibility potions, safes, crates, flower pots, or ten thousand-pound weights that can be used against the enemies in the game. As a result, the game has a "puzzle-solving" atmosphere.

Players score 100 points for every carrot with the last one in each floor giving the player an extra life, 100 points for every enemy defeated using invincibility bottles, 500 points per enemy using boxing glove, and 1000 points per enemy that gets hit with heavy objects. Passwords can be used to start at a certain level in this game.
