The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy is a platform game developed by Sol and published by Taito Corporation for the NES and based on the animated series The Flintstones. It was released in North America in December 1991, in Europe in April 1992 and in Japan in August of the same year. The player controls Fred Flintstone on his mission to rescue Dino and Hoppy, who have been kidnapped by a scientist from the distant future. A sequel titled The Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak was released by Taito for the NES in 1994.

Plot[edit]

The Flintstones live peacefully in the Stone Age with their friends Rubble, the dinosaurs Dino and Hoppy and the alien Gazoo. Suddenly one day, a scientist appears in front of them, aboard a sinister time machine. The man introduces himself as Dr. Butler and claims to come from the 30th century, to get dinosaurs for the Orbit City Zoo, after which he kidnaps Dino and Hoppy. Before disappearing, the evil scientist destroys Gazoo's time machine so that he cannot be followed, hiding the pieces in various places. Fred is then forced to search for the pieces, aided by Gazoo, Barney, Wilma and Betty. Only after finding them all, Gazoo will be able to reassemble the time machine, allowing Fred to join Dr. Butler in the future, hoping to save Dino and Hoppy.
