Fire pits are a must-have wherever you are in The Sims 2: Castaway. The basic fire pit allows you to cook food, build the Comfort motive by sitting by the fire, interact with other Sims by sitting around the fire, and build a Home Tiki. Although stoves can cook better meals, you still need a fire pit to burn food waste, build a Home Tiki, and sit around it for Comfort and Social. For the basic fire pit, you need driftwood, so it's a good idea to collect it whenever you find any. With stoves, you can cook more fulfilling meals (that requires more than one ingredient, something you can't do when cooking at fire pits) and cook group meals. The higher-quality fire pits provide better Comfort but requires the Mechanical Skill before you can even place them on the ground. Stoves require both Mechanical and Cooking Skill. Do not place fire pits near shelters or objects, and especially not inside shelters, as they will catch fire.
