The Young Ones is an adventure game that was released by Orpheus on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum in 1985, and the Commodore 64 in 1986; it is based on the BBC television series of the same name (which aired on BBC2 from 1982 to 1984, but killed all four of its main characters in its last episode).

Story[edit]

This is from the back of the cassette's inlay card, the front of which is shown in the image to the right:

At last! "The Young Ones" come to life on your computer
screen. Watch Rick, Vyvyan, Mike and Neil as they walk,
talk, smash, burn and battle through the hovel they call a
home.
You choose who you want to be and the computer
controls the other three. This game is superbly animated
with overwhelming graphics and sound. You will want
to play "The Young Ones" until your brain burns out!

The object of the game is to help your chosen character collect all his belongings so he can move out of the student home ("15 Credibility Street") before landlord Jerzei Balowski comes to collect the rent; however, the other three are obviously all trying to do this as well, and all four of them have their own belongings which must be located. Some items may simply be picked up by selecting the appropriate command from the menu (much like in Creative Sparks's Danger Mouse in the Black Forest Chateau the entire gameplay is themed around selecting commands from a menu) but you shall have to solve puzzles to get to some other ones - including using a vacuum cleaner to get a golf ball out of a toilet.
