  • (Expert) Don't kill anyone.
  • (Hard or Expert) Return to the city streets.

Equipment[edit]

Starting gear

  • 1 Healing potion
  • 8 Water arrows (20 on normal)
  • 36 Broadhead arrow
  • Sword
  • Blackjack
  • 300 cash

For sale:

  • 20 Broadhead arrow
  • 2 Healing potions
  • 4 water arrows

Note that if you completed the tutorial and got the treasure there, you should have an extra 50 gold to purchase items.

Equipment and money is not carried over to the next mission. As such, you should purchase as much useful equipment as possible, and likewise use such equipment during the heist.

Outside the manor[edit]

Outside the manor is rather safe. The only characters around are generally non-hostile, unless you provoke them by trying the front gate or attacking them.

There is a cache of four water arrows, as marked in the map. Simply follow the right-hand road until you see the alcove on the left, soon after the machine. The cache of arrows should be more than enough.

There are various sewer manholes scattered in the streets. These provide only limited benefit, although you can find a necklace in the room with the switch to open a gate.

To enter the mansion, there's a single drunk guard outside of a well. As he's drunk, the most that will happen in normal play is him commenting you being nearby. As long as you are behind him when you pickpocket him, you can take his key and unlock the door behind him.

Jump into the well, and you can swim in a waterway that leads to a crack in the basement. For some extra loot, look for a hole in the wall of the large chamber.

As an alternative to the slow route through the sewers, you can choose the dangerous option of going past the front gate. The gate's switch is behind the lamp on the right-hand side, and is protected by three guards with higher health than the rest of the guards (in addition to being protected by an objective on expert difficulty). Charging through the front gate also requires you to shake off the guards, who will likely chase you for a bit of time and may also cause guards to become more alert.

Basement[edit]

Once inside, there's a large room, but the exit has two guards in a quick discussion. Take the chance to open the chest for a healing potion. When the discussion ends, take the left route following the guard but avoiding the metal floor. He will eventually stop near a chest, where you can blackjack him. The chest contains a flash bomb.

The sole path leads to a stairwell that ascends to the servant's quarters.

Servant's quarters[edit]

These quarters are on the eastern side of the manor. There's a chest with 5 coins at the top of the stairs, and not much else otherwise.

There are four doors on the west of the quarters. The ones at the extreme north and south lead to the wings, while the middle two doors lead to the kitchen and food.

In the kitchen, there's a vase worth 100 gold.

First floor[edit]

When entering the rest of the first floor, you will likely appear at one of the wings - either the north or south. A drunk guard stands near one of the doors, but is otherwise not much of an issue. These wings have doors leading to the interior courtyard (with a pool), a door on the western end leading to a small room. On the outer wall, there's two side stairs that lead up to a tower - the western ones also lead to the second floor.

The north side also has a path that leads to an exit.

The western edge of the first floor is covered by two archers, with the main entrance closed by the gate. When you complete the objectives, you can leave through here, but as usual it is dangerous.

Second floor - West[edit]

The second floor is a bit more crowded, with more guards on patrol. You will want to go east, as that's how to reach the scepter.

At the west, there are two nice rooms with a fireplace, which are patrolled and connect to the balcony overlooking the first floor lobby. As they are visited by one of the wandering guards, you should be quick when moving or looking in this room. The only thing of interest for these rooms is a chest on the third floor containing some loot.

In the middle is a small garden that is on both sides of the pool balcony. Of note is that the right banner covers a secret passage that leads directly to the throne room.

To the east are two doors leading to either a library or a lounge.

Second floor - East[edit]

Past the two rooms on the east leads to a tiled floor with carpet in the middle. Guards patrol in a circular pattern, and stepping on the tiles will make noise that will easily alert the guards. The patrolling guards will also have a key to the throne room, which you can obtain by pickpocketing or blackjacking them.

The doors to the throne room are locked. Once you're inside, the last guard stands at the doorway. Use the water arrows to quench the torches, and blackjack the last guard once his back is turned. The scepter is found in the throne room.

Once you have the scepter, you can now leave the mansion (after completing any other objectives first.) On normal difficulty, the mission ends as soon as you pick up the treasure.
