Time Crisis 4 is a first-person shooter arcade game that was released by Namco in 2005; it runs on the company's System 256 hardware, and despite its name, it is the seventh title in their Time Crisis series. As with 2002's Time Crisis 3, it is rated "Animated Violence: Strong", and the storyline of this installment is that a world-class group of terrorists (whose general is named Gregory Barrows) have smuggled a top-secret weapon which threatens the world - however, two V.S.S.E., which stands for "Vital Situation, Swift-Elimination", agents Giorgio Bruno and Evan Bernard must stop their scheme.

This installment also introduces multi-screen battles, which had first appeared in 2001's Time Crisis: Project Titan for the Sony PlayStation, to an arcade Time Crisis game; furthermore, players wishing to calibrate their guns before playing can squeeze (and hold) their triggers then step on their pedals during the game's attract mode to put their side of the cabinet into gun-calibration mode, something that only arcade operators could do when lightguns were first introduced for Namco games in 1990.
