Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss is a first-person RPG in the Ultima series, released in 1992. In this installment, the Avatar is recalled to Britannia in order to rescue a baron's daughter who was kidnapped by an evil wizard.
The game was developed by Blue Sky Productions, later renamed to Looking Glass Studios, as one of the early 3D games. While a technical advancement, there are subtle signs of primitive design similar to other games released around that time.
