The game starts with a cutscene, which serves as the setpiece for the action. The chapter itself consists of you defending yourself from incoming enemies.

You and your partner Elena are attacked by pirates aboard the boat. While you wait for your escape ride to arrive, hold off the pirates and stay alive. Use 
to aim your gun and 
to shoot.
The first two enemy boats will arrive on your boat's port side: each boat has two pirates who will begin shooting at you. Once you take the pirates out, the boats will leave. A quick way to take them out is to shoot the oil barrels on the boats: timed correctly, the resulting explosion will kill all the pirates on the deck.
The next two pirates will climb on board from the boat's starboard side. They will be followed by two pirates from the port side, followed by two pirates on each side.
The final boat will have a rocket launcher equipped: do your best to avoid its fire until the cutscene begins, signalling the end of the chapter.
