Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Pyro maniac! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide. If you have a question about the content on this wiki, you can check out our staff lounge page. If you want to ask questions or hang out in IRC, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the community portal talk page. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field as this helps to document all of your hard work. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! -- DrBob (Talk) 13:05, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Writing style[edit]

Hi Pyromaniac. Please be mindful of your writing style when contributing to a guide. Try to remember to:

  1. Maintain a NPOV (Neutral Point of View). That includes never using first-person references such as "I", "me", or "myself". Since you are not the sole author of a guide, it's not polite to refer to yourself.
  2. Adhere to proper English spellings. Avoid using internet shortcuts or slang. So don't use things like "y'all".

Please try to keep these points in mind as you continue to contribute to the site. Your contributions are appreciated, but we do ask that you try to keep this points in mind for the future. Thanks very much. Procyon (Talk) 08:27, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Transformers: The Game[edit]

Hi Pyro maniac. I appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to contribute, but do you have any plans to put any content in the Transformers: The Game guide you created? There seems little point in creating what is essentially a completely empty shell of a guide, as it misleads people into thinking we have some sort of walkthrough for the game, rather than nothing (which is what we do have). Leave a message on my talk page if you plan to add content to the guide soon; otherwise I'll delete it tomorrow. Thanks. --DrBob (Talk) 14:30, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Box artwork[edit]

Could you stop putting images saying "box art not available" up as the box artwork for games please? Doing so means that the game is no longer listed in Category:Pages needing box artwork, meaning that it's a lot harder to notice that the guide does actually need some. Thanks. --DrBob (Talk) 14:33, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Empty Pages[edit]

Hey Pyro, please don't create blank pages like for that Need for Speed: Cars/Sequence page. Unless you add content I'm not going to allow any "junk" pages. Thanks, try to contribute something next time. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:02, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Don't worry about creating pages for arranging data tables; check out the table on Need for Speed: Carbon/Cars. Do you see the little icon next to the column titles? If you click that, the table will be reorganized in a certain way (for example, alphanumerically versus reversed alphanumerically). If you ever need to reset the table, just refresh or reload the page. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:12, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

A few pointers[edit]

Hi Pyro maniac! Glad to see that you are making some great contributions to StrategyWiki! Here's a few more pointers to help point you in the right direction formatting-wise.

  • Please check out the editing guide's entry about control pages. I've converted Need for Speed: Carbon/Getting Started into the correct format for you, but I have a feeling there are still a few controls to be added. Oh, and generally buttons that don't do anything aren't included in the controls, but it's your call.
  • The {{psx}} template for putting in Playstation control images uses the first letter of the shape for that button (for example, {{psx|C}} would yield Circle button). For the analogue sticks, use {{psx|Left|Lstick}} to produce Left lstick and {{psx|Neutral|Rstick}} to make the Neutral rstick image.
  • You may also want to check out this page for a few extra tips.
  • If you find that you have any other questions, feel free to ask at the staff lounge. You may also want to look through the archives there to see if your question was previously answered (and it may even answer some questions that you would normally never think of!).

Thank you, and I hope that you continue to contribute positively to StrategyWiki! --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 21:55, 7 July 2007 (CDT)
