Truncated edits[edit]

Hi Wjk, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry that you've experienced this, I know how frustrating it can be, I've been a victim myself. I'm not certain what went wrong, but I will do what I can to investigate it, and have our tech-lead check out the logs to see if he can find anything suspicious. I'll let you know if our investigation turns up anything useful.

As a work-around for the time being, if you ever find yourself experiencing similar problems, here's what I do. Before I save, I use Select All and Copy the contents of the page into my clipboard. That way, if I'm concerned that I might lose something (or my session expires), I don't save right then and there. I go back to the page, re-edit it, Select All again and Paste the contents of my clipboard back into the page, and then save immediately. It's bit of a pain to do, but it should ensure that you don't lose anything.

Thanks for all the hard work you've been putting into the RSE guide, it's very much appreciated. Procyon 17:16, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

I'm not the server admin here, but when working on a website, session expiration is to be expected. HTTP sessions time out after 10-20 minutes. This is necessary to reduce load on the web-server and to disable bots from tying up all of the available website viewing slots (available HTTP requests). I, like Procyon, never trust my browser to keep my data safe. I use Chrome now, and it has been the best for saving me during a session error or whatever, but the best course of action is to copy everything to Notepad immediately, and often, when working on long contributions (500 characters or more). Also note that there is a less serious session error that I get sometimes if I go AFK and come back; the page still loads, MediaWiki gives a small warning in red. All it says for me to do is re-submit, so I hit submit and it usually resolves the problem and adds my edit. If that doesn't work for you, rely on Notepad. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:11, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Pokémon DP guide[edit]

Easier editing[edit]

The Show preview button (right next to the Save page button) lets you see how your changes will look before saving the page. You can use Show preview as many times as you like until you get the page how you want it. You can also edit the whole page at one time, as opposed to by section, by clicking the Edit tab at the top of the page. Hopefully these little shortcuts will make it easier for you to get the desired result when you're editing, and save you a little time. Thanks for working on the wiki! — Prod (talk) 22:38, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

I know that. 😃 I generally do one kind of edit at a time, which is why I am editing the page multiple times in a row. Thanks nevertheless! SupremeUmanu (talk) 22:42, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
