Mythos

Hey, thanks for helping out with the Mythos guide. I haven't been actively updating it for a while because I've been busy with other games, but if you can think of anything I should look into, please tell me! Thanks, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:23, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

For the gem page - do you think you could add the small image next to the big one (to show what it actually looks like in the inventory)? I like the big ones! --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:08, 28 June 2008 (CDT)
I'm not sure if you could tell, but I'm getting the icons directly from the dat file and then I convert them to png. Unfortunately, after poking around the dat, I discovered many of the icons are not really clean (lots of extraneous pixels). So that leaves me with a few questions.
  • Should I continue uploading with a transparent background even though quite a few icons will have random pixels? The gems turned out okay, but the potions look pretty bad.
  • Should I upload them with a black background to give it an approximate look of being in the inventory? This will cover up the bad pixels.
  • What size should I use? For this image Image:Mythos Uniques Quickdraw.png I scaled the width and height by 50%. You can see the size difference in the revisions. Scaling the width and height of the icons by 50% should bring the size closer to what players see in game, but of course the size depends on how players customize their ui scale. Alternatively, I suppose I could upload the icons full size and just scale the image in wiki code like this Mythos Gems Bloodstone.png.
Anyway, I would appreciate any comments you have. Thanks. Tedium 22:25, 28 June 2008 (CDT)
Nope I couldn't tell, but now it makes sense (btw how are you extracting them?).
  • I can try to clean up the images if you like, but the small ones like the bloodstone you put right there look perfect so I actually think that's the best way to go (simply upload a new version over the old).
  • Yes, transparent backgrounds ftw. If you have photoshop, making the extra border pixels transparent as well is easy as pie (which is why I want to know how to extract the file if you aren't able to shop them).
  • Black background = bad because of the contrasting white (its just blinding). For item images, larger will be better (even if you don't see it in game, the .dat image will have much more detail and thus be better for the site. Again black backgrounds = bad but whatcha gonna do.)
  • For achievement icon images, get the largest possible (highest UI scale) for maximum detail (although you could probably get those from the .dat as well...).
  • Again, upload full sized transparent gem images and scale them for the best look.
  • Do not create new file names for images like gems and such - simply go to the image and click "Upload new version" to replace what is currently being used. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 17:36, 29 June 2008 (CDT)
I used the UnHell program listed in the modding page to extract all the files out of the dat. To be safe, I used it on a copy of the dat in a separate location. data_mythos\icons contains all the inventory icons, data_mythos\uix contains all the skill icons. Then I used Gimp to open the files, but that requires a dds plugin. With Gimp, I can then save them as png. Then I used pngcrush to find the best compression and remove extra things like color space and gamma to bring the filesize down.
I'll go ahead and start uploading images. The skill and achievement icons may take a little longer to do because they are all contained in one file so I don't know which icons map to which achievement. Tedium 18:50, 29 June 2008 (CDT)
All of the high res ones on the achievement page are correct. Thanks for pointing that out, I never seriously read the modding page. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:39, 30 June 2008 (CDT)

Hello and Thanks

I saw that you were uploading stuff for Megaman Battle Network 1, something I was meaning to do since I built most of the battle network pages, but never got around to doing it. so thanks a heap. apart from ocasional cleanups from the sysops, pretty much all the work done here was my doing, so more hands makes it easier.

if you're doing any more stuff for any of the other battle network games, message me to see if I can help you. and once again, thanks a heap.

Peace out, God Bless. Halosonic 21:30, 11 August 2008 (CDT)

I've only played the first and a little bit of the second in the series, so I can't really help with the others. For now, I'm just focusing on the first one. I have the battle chip list done minus any typos or mistakes. I also started a rough walkthrough, but I'm not sure how well the layout works. Tedium 02:19, 14 August 2008 (CDT)

Reviews

You should understand that we try to minimize our external links, primarily because we strive to contain all necessary info on this site. For additional, unrelated info, we currently link to Wikipedia if there's an article with expanded info on it. For reviews, our sister site ShouldIPlay.com takes review submissions (if you write one, chances are it will be published so long as it isn't gibberish or explicitly vulgar or something). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 20:40, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

I was looking through the featured guides and nominated guides for ideas and noticed that some had similar external links, so I mistakenly assumed they were appropriate. I looked through SW:GUIDE, but didn't see anything mentioned about external links. Thanks for clearing that up. Tedium 04:26, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I forgot to add a brief explanation of partnerships: if it becomes beneficial for us to work with another organization, then we'll try and pass visitors from site to site based on what content we contain. In SW:Guide you'll notice the partnerships page that should list all the partnerships we currently have going. Most obvious is our DoubleJump Books partnership, but we also have external wiki partnerships such as with Bulbapedia and the Zelda Wiki. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 10:38, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Preload buttons

Remember to always use the 'Guide page' button when creating a new page for a walkthrough. It's beside the 'Main game page' and 'Table of Contents' buttons you used for those pages. Moydow T · C 14:06, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia/Enemies attributes images

Could we increase the size of those icons to, say, 32x32 pixels? The art on them is too difficult see at the native 16x16px. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:07, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Castlevania Order of Ecclesia attribute strike red.png Castlevania Order of Ecclesia attribute fire blue.png Is 24px good? 32px seems kind of big, but I don't mind either way. Tedium (talk) 20:14, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
Oh sure, 24 I can actually recognize the difference :P Can you re-size them or should I? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:40, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
I can do it since I'll be adding more sprites to the page anyway. Tedium (talk) 18:27, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Would you be interested in being an Admin?

Hi Tedium. You've been a very dedicated editor of the site for a rather long time, and the quality of your work is always great quality. Would you be interested in a promotion to Admin? You wouldn't necessarily have to take on any extra responsibilities that you didn't want to, but it would give you the opportunity to do so if you liked. Let me know what you think. And thanks. Procyon 00:50, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

I appreciate the offer, but I would rather stick to adding games and filling in content where I can. Tedium (talk) 18:53, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
Understood. Thanks for your dedication, and the high quality of your contributions! Procyon 20:59, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

I've given you the rollbacker permission, so that all your edits are automatically marked as patrolled. It also allows you to patrol edits if you're interested, but don't feel obligated. -- Prod (talk) 01:03, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the permission. Tedium (talk) 21:41, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
