After the fishing rod is obtained at the start of Chapter 2, you can fish in any body of water if you have bait. Press to pull out the fishing rod and a curved line will show where the lure will land. Move the line with and press to cast. When a fish bites, press and keep mashing it to reel in the fish. For harder fish, you may have to periodically move in the direction the screen shows. Fishing spots with fish shadows will have a better chance to haul in a fish. Sometimes a treasure chest or monster may be hauled in. Some fishing spots will have a waterfowl and a shiny reflection. Fishing there is guaranteed to reel in a treasure chest that contains a Prismatic Jewel. Large fish shadows indicate the presence of a master fish. They are much harder to catch with additional inputs while reeling, but they have rare items. If you cast in a body of water that is not a fishing spot, then you have a chance to haul in driftage that contains items.
