As soon as this stage start, you will be attacked by a group of flying skulls, so you must be prepared to move immediately, or you are likely to be struck. After the skulls appear, the stage is abnormally peaceful until you get closer to the first cliff edge. There are no wings to make use of here, so you must be good enough to leap across one plateau, if not two. Don't risk the triple jump on the right unless you're in desperate need of more hearts, which you shouldn't be by this point. Once you make it to the other side, you are forced to go either right or left. Once the two dino skeletons are well within view, they come to life and charge you. You are relatively safer on the right side, but not by much.

After passing through a relatively open stretch of stage, where several more animated dinosaur skeletons will attack you, you will come to one of the most difficult sections in the game. Several of the volcanoes belch out dangerous clouds, and the clouds themselves shoot bullets at you. In order to proceed without getting hit, you must stay towards the bottom so that you lure the clouds away from where you intend to jump, and then make the lead across the gap when the clouds stop appearing. You'll have to do this twice, and the safest path to proceed along is on the right. Once you reach the other side, you can find the one and only hidden tile available in this entire stage: a wing tile, hidden along the right. You would be well advised to collect it and hold on to it until the end.

If you did not manage to pick up the wings, or if you had them and got hit and lost them, prepare for a very difficult sequence of jumps which you must make in order to reach the opposite side, very close to the entrance of the boss chamber. These jumps are made more difficult by the constant scrolling, and the fact that you don't necessarily hold still when you land. You continue to walk forward, so if you are attempting to time your jump to the next island, you must walk backwards with the stage. If you are moving too quickly, it can be difficult to make the minute adjustments necessary to correct your position without falling off the edge. Just a few more ravines await you before you reach the end of the stage where the snake boss awaits.

Boss[edit]

The boss of Stage 4-3 is identical to the boss of the third stage.
