Exploring the Tunnels[edit]

Enemies Cave Crawler (4) • Skitter (17) • Mean Mole (14) • Stare Bear (8)

These tunnels are pretty straightforward, but you'll be fighting another series of enemies throughout, stronger and more numerous than those found in the junkyard. Use your same tactics, and don't be afraid to use HealGrease when needed.

Upper Alien Tunnels[edit]

Quest
Accompany Mr. Matavastros on a full exploration of the MysTech Tunnels. Don't screw it up, Boots. We need the dough.

Fumble your way through the dark corridors until you reach an elevator. At the bottom, look to your left for a Glodent. After the second fight, look around the right for a Batt before heading down the ramp. After the third fight, look to the right on the ramp for a chest with a TACO. After the fight with the first Stare Bear, watch for the Vistin Spikehead for Grumpos on your left as you go up the steps.

After crossing the narrow bridge, turn left. After the following fight, pick the Lifeflower Petal by the wall. Make sure to collect these as you encounter them from now on, as they'll be useful later. Head back to the junction and go the other way. Save at the next TimeMinder, and hop on the jetski.

Sewagic Rapids Minigame

The object of this game is to collect as many starred crates as you can while avoiding the explosive ones. Use the mouse to move from side to side as you travel down the river, and make use of the health crates to recover damage. If you survive, you'll get a reward based on how many crates you grabbed...

  • 1 Crate - Cordican Diamond Disc
  • 3 Crates - 2 Cordican Diamond Discs
  • 7 Crates - 3 Cordican Diamond Discs
  • 9 Crates - 2 TimeMinder Tears (tells you "HealGrease" by mistake)

Lower Alien Tunnels[edit]

Getting off the jetski, head forward and grab the 2 HealGrease on the right by the crates. After the next fight, grab another 2 HealGrease by the lone crate on the right. After a fight with 2 Stare Bears and 2 Mean Moles, keep an eye out for a HealGrease Complete on a left pathway. Proceed to the next TimeMinder, save, and grab the HealGrease Complete on the left around the corner. Make sure you're healed up before continuing ahead to fight...

BOSS - Stone Sentinel
You'll fight this massive thing on an island surrounded by six hexagonal platforms, which act as Boots and Grumpos movement areas. The Sentinel will smash down on each one in a set order, which you can use to your advantage. It'll take a turn or two to move to its next target and charge up, so use that time to move out of harms way and get a few hits in (for example, the Sentinel will target the space between Boots and Grumpos at the start, so have them both immediately move to another space as those will be next in line for its targets). Thats all it takes - time your dodges and keep striking until the Sentinel falls.

Continue on and grab the stone, which initiates a cutscene. Afterwards, Grumpos pays you $100, and you wind up back at the entrance, minus the DoorLord.

PAL-18[edit]

Quest
Journey to the planet Sunder and find Dr. Rho Bowman. Grumpos wants to knock heads with her about MysTech.
  • Take a shuttle from Anachronox Tours to Sender Station with Grumpos. Better than sticking around here, wouldn't you agree?
  • But not before you go back to Rowdy's and reactivate PAL with a size B battery. How could you even think of just leaving him there?
  • Much Better, Boots. Now if you hurry back to Rowdy's and use this battery to wake up PAL, I'll neglect to mention this cold-hearted memory lapse to him.

Head for the Anachronox Tours Area, and find the guy with the purple PAL from earlier. He'll sell you a Cordicom Toy Battery Size B for $200, so buy it. Time to reactivate PAL-18. Head all the way back to Boots' office, and wake the little guy up. After the cutscene, he'll join you, and you finally have a full party. Now that we have him, we can also make use of his world skill.

Stop by Whackmaster Jack's, and have PAL hack the dataport next to the ramp downstairs for a TACO. Also talk to Bean Fredicksson using Grumpos, and play along for a Pentagonal Prism (you'll be able to make use of this soon). For future reference, if PAL is injured in this area, he could hack the dataport under the table with the broken robot at Ghalla's for free healing. Now head to the Anachronox Tours Area.

Upon arrival, head up the path with the guard who wanted a photo of the speeder. There's a broken elevator that you can "fix" using PAL. Connect the "blue & red wires", then head through the "opened" hole and hack the dataport. A nearby closet will be unlocked with a TACO inside (and a sad vacuum).

WORLD SKILL - CompTalk

PAL-18's world skill allows him to hack dataports found throughout the game, which can allow access to necessary data or unlock secret areas. Select an outlet (Ctrl + click) to begin the minigame. You'll be shown a 5x5 grid of tiles with a segmented bar counting down above, and a small selection of marked tiles below.

The goal here is to make a path from the highlighted tile a the bottom to the corresponding tile at the top. Use the mouse to select your available tiles below and place them on the grid, connecting each together as you work your way up. You'll notice some tiles on the grid are inactive (and there's a few damaged ones as well if you look closely). You'll need to snake around them using the appropriate tile. Complete the path before the time runs out and you'll have successfully hacked the dataport.

Final Preparations[edit]

Continue up into Anachronox Tours, and have PAL talk to the robot straight ahead twice for a Cordicorps Shockclaw to equip. Then have Grumpos Yammer at the guy in front of the ticket booth to get him out of the way, and buy your 2 Sender Station Shuttle Tickets (use Grumpos, as Boots has debts).

WORLD SKILL - Yammer

Grumpos' world skill allows him to talk endlessly to an NPC until they give him what he wants out of sheer, agonizing boredom. Select an NPC to begin the minigame (you should know how to do this by now).

You'll be shown a display of Grumpos' lungs, with a meter to the right and a timer at the top. The goal here is to repeatedly click the button below the corresponding lung when it expands (or use the and keys, which is faster). Make sure to stop when it contracts, as it will negatively affect the meter. Keep this up until the meter is filled, and you'll be successfully prepared to bore your target to death (but not literally).

Listening to Grumpos' dialogue isn't necessary, but it can be pretty humorous at times.

Now head through the gates, down and around to the right, and save at the TimeMinder on the platform. Since we're about to leave the entire Anachronox area for a while, you might want to make a backup save here, just in case.

Following the guide thus far, you should have...

  • Vistin ThreeBeam
  • Vistin Spikehead
  • Cordicorps Shockclaw
  • 2 Pre-Owned Shieldcells
  • Eluder Band
  • Valesta's Bracelet
  • 7 TACOs
  • Credit for 2 Red Bipidri Photos
  • Credit for 6 Anachronox Symbols

If you're missing anything, go back and take care of it before continuing. When you're ready to continue, walk up to the shuttle. On to Sender Station...
