Bandits[edit]

Medals
  • Platinum Score: ~15,500
  • Gold Score: 15,000
  • Silver Score: 14,000
  • Bronze: Complete the mission.

The first mission of the Red Kingdom expansion pack introduces three new characters to the player, one of which is a new unit type not seen in Maal's Story. They are Cherak, the Healer, Kutha, a Warrior bug and Iman is first playable Cavalry unit. The Cavalry type offers the range of a Pikeman, allowing attacks from an extra space away in all directions, as long as nothing is blocking the attack. Learn to use this to your advantage, and remember that units on the same side can attack through each other. Another advantage to the Cavalry unit is its skill, which will allow the unit to move farther than normal in exchange for not being able to attack or perform any other action that turn. Just refrain from rushing this single bug into the heart battle.

Round 1[edit]

This round is probably the most important, if a Grunt is killed here, a Gold or Platinum metal is attainable. It primarily depends on the AI, and which order they go in, so for the easies result, you may need to play through the mission a few times until the first round goes according to plan.

Move Cherak straight forward until you get to the water, and then one space to the right from there. (This is assuming that you leave the camera in the same position through the match, so Cherak should now have a water square above him and to his right.) It does not matter which way he faces. The enemy should now go, and will probably end one space back from the water. Move the Cavalry unit parallel with this enemy unit, but use Run skill so it finishes against the edge of the board. Now, leave it facing the direction you came from; this is to entice the enemies to come and attack your back so you can use your Warrior's Shoulder Rush skill and push them off the map. Here is the important part: If the next enemy moves one space in front of where the first Grunt is, the rest of this mission becomes a lot easier. If that has not happened, you will need to improvise a little or restart the scenario. Finally, move Kutha so he is facing the enemy that just moved and attach him. The last two enemy units will move, their position is not important right now.

Round 2[edit]

Now, don't move your Cavalry unit. Instead, use it to attack the Grunt two spaces away that you just attacked with Kutha. This should kill it. Put Iman back to facing the same direction you left him at the end of the last round. The enemy will come attack him, leaving him open for your Warrior to push him off the map. Do that now. Leave him facing the opposite direction of the enemy you just killed. Move your healer right in front of the one enemy he can reach, you're primarily blocking his patch. You can either use Cherak to heal Iman or attack the enemy, choose depending on the amount of health Iman has. Hopefully one of the two enemy units will now take the bait and attack the back of either the Warrior or Cavalry.

Round 3[edit]

Either one or both enemy units should now be standing at a location where you can kill them using Shoulder Rush. If they both are and you attacked one with Cherak last round, push the other. Then, attack the one who already has some health gone with Iman and Cherak. This should kill him and end the mission.

Tips[edit]

  • Time is the biggest factor in this mission since neither Iman, Cherak nor Kutha should die and all of the Grunts must be killed for the mission to be completed. Less than sixty seconds is the difference between a Silver and Platinum medal, so figure out what must be done and do it quickly!
  • This is a good mission to unlock the Bouncer Achievement on if, for whatever reason, creating a custom map to do it on is not an option. Do not try to get the Achievement and a good medal at the same time, though.
  • This is a good mission to unlock the Wet Bug Smell Achievement on if you have not yet gotten it.
