BM1990 Stage 8.png
Time: 70 seconds (1:10)

Once Batman has reappeared on the screen, you will have to jump up to two rotting wooden platforms in turn, as you come up to a green-jacketed thug; once you have punched him to kill him, a bald-headed gunner will look out of a window, to fire a shot at Batman. Once you have punched him to kill him, you will have to jump onto a third rotting wooden platform as you come to another green-jacketed thug - and once you have punched him to kill him, you shall have to jump up to two more rotting wooden platforms in turn as another bald-headed gunner looks out of another window to fire a shot at Batman. Once you have punched him to kill him, you will have to jump back to the left onto a sixth rotting wooden platform for twenty-four extra seconds; Batman will also die immediately if he falls too far in the early part of this stage, and it is indicated by pushing the joystick left or right having no effect as he falls.

You will now come to a third green-jacketed thug and a brown-jacketed thug; once you have punched both of them to kill them, you will have to collect a Batrope for fifteen shots of it (and once you have done so the Joker shall say It can be truly said, that I have a bat, in my belfry. from the MSM-6295 off-screen, cutting off the song from the Yamaha YM-2151). You will then have to jump up to two more rotting wooden platforms in turn as you come to two more brown-jacketed thugs - and once you have fired a shot from the Batrope at both of these to kill them, you will have to collect a Batarang for fifteen shots of it. Once you have done it, you will have to jump up to two more rotting wooden platforms in turn as you come to a brown-suited gangster; once you have thrown two Batarangs at him to kill him, you have to jump back to the left onto a tenth rotting wooden platform as you come to another brown-suited gangster. Once you've thrown two more Batarangs at him, to kill him, you'll have to jump up to an eleventh rotting wooden platform as you come to a third brown-suited gangster - and once you have thrown two more Batarangs at him to kill him, you will have to jump up to a twelfth rotting wooden platform as you come to a fourth brown-suited gangster. Once you have thrown two more Batarangs at him to kill him you shall have to jump up onto a thirteenth rotting wooden platform as you come to a fifth brown-suited gangster; once you have thrown two more Batarangs at him to kill him, you shall have to jump up to two more rotting wooden platforms in turn, for twenty-four more extra seconds (this stage is also longer than all of the other seven).

You'll then have to jump back to the left onto a sixteenth rotting wooden platform as you come to a fourth brown-jacketed thug and a red-jacketed thug; once you've thrown a Batarang at both of them to kill them, you will have to jump up to a seventeenth rotting wooden platform, as you come to another red-jacketed thug. Once you've thrown a fourteenth Batarang at him to kill him you will have to jump up to an eighteenth (non-rotting) wooden platform and receive eighteen more extra seconds - and from this point onwards, Batman cannot instantly die from falling too far (but he can still fall into holes).

You shall now come to a third red-jacketed thug; once you have thrown a fifteenth (and final for now) Batarang at him to kill him, you will have to jump up a three-step staircase made up of six crates to a nineteenth (non-rotting) wooden platform as you come to a fourth green-jacketed thug and red-jacketed thug. Once you have punched both of them to kill them, you will have to collect another Batarang for fifteen more shots of it; once you have done so, you will have to throw two Batarangs at two of the Joker's jack-in-the-boxes to destroy them and collect a Bat-Symbol for an extra hit (there are also two red-shirted gunners, a fifth green-jacketed thug, and a third of the Joker's jack-in-the-boxes on that aforementioned eighteenth platform below, but you'll only have to deal with the thug if he jumps up to the nineteenth platform, and the gunners if you jump back down to the eighteenth platform to collect the Gas Grenade which is also present). You'll then come to a third red-shirted gunner who is firing shots at you (which you shall have to jump up to avoid); once you have thrown four more Batarangs at him to kill him, you will have to drop down to the ground and jump over a hole for eighteen more extra seconds.

You shall then have to pick up another Gas Grenade for fifteen (more, if you decided to collect the first one) shots of it; once you have done so, you shall come to the Joker, who will say The pen, is truly mightier than the sword! from the MSM-6295 as he throws pens, fires shots, and throws chattering teeth (which you shall have to jump up to avoid) at Batman. Once you have thrown sixteen Gas Grenades at him (or thrown fifteen Gas Grenades at him, then crouched down and kicked him at close range) to make him retreat, and cackle Heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh! from the MSM-6295, you'll have to jump over another hole and collect a third Batarang for fifteen more shots of it - and once you have done so the Joker will say Shall we dance? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha... from the MSM-6295 off-screen as you come to a fourth red-shirted gunner who is firing shots at you (and you will have to jump up onto a twentieth non-rotting wooden platform to avoid them, but there are two more red-shirted gunners and red-jacketed thugs on it). Once you have thrown four Batarangs at him to kill him, a seventh red-jacketed thug will come running towards you while wielding a knife; once you have thrown a fifth Batarang at him to kill him you'll come to a seventh red-shirted gunner and an eighth red-jacketed thug. Once you have thrown four more Batarangs at the gunner to kill him (and a tenth one at the thug to kill him), you'll have to jump over a third hole, in order to receive twenty-four more extra seconds.

You'll then have to collect a fourth Batarang for fifteen more shots of it; once you have done so, you will come to the Joker again, who will say You would not hit a guy with glasses? Huh, would you? The pen, is truly mightier than the sword! from the MSM-6295 (and this time he'll also spit flames at Batman from a pair of glasses, with a false nose and moustache attached). Once you have thrown twelve more Batarangs at him to force him down a fourth hole (attacking him this way is only worth 200 points for every hit though), you'll have to jump over the fourth hole, to receive twenty-four more extra seconds.

Two more red-jacketed thugs shall then come running towards you while wielding knives; once you have thrown a Batarang at both of them to kill them, you will have to collect a fifth Batarang for fifteen more shots of it. You'll then have to jump up to a twenty-first (non-rotting) wooden platform to collect a Bat-Symbol for an extra hit - and once you've done so you shall have to throw two Batarangs at three gray-suited gangsters (and two more at two more red-jacketed thugs) to kill them. You shall then have to drop back down to the ground and throw two Batarangs at two more gray-suited gangsters (and two more at a thirteenth red-jacketed thug and sixth green-jacketed thug) to kill them; once you have done so, you will have to jump over a fifth hole for twenty-four more extra seconds as you come to the Cathedral's large hour bell (which shall swing back and forth as it tolls from the Yamaha YM-2151).

You shall then come to three more green-jacketed thugs, and two more brown-jacketed thugs; once you have thrown a Batarang at each of them to kill them, you shall have to collect a third Gas Grenade for fifteen more shots of it, wait for three of the Cathedral's smaller quarter bells to fall, jump over a sixth hole and wait for three more of the Cathedral's quarter bells to fall. You'll now come to a tenth green-jacketed thug and a seventh brown-jacketed thug - and once you've thrown a Gas Grenade at both of them to kill them, you will have to jump over a seventh hole, for fourteen more extra seconds.

A swordsman will then jump down to the ground while throwing swords at you; once you have thrown eight more Gas Grenades at him to kill him (killing him this way is worth 100 points for the first seven hits, but only 400 for the eighth, and you will still have to wait until he gets back up after every one for them to register), you have to collect a sixth Batarang for fifteen more shots of it (there are also five purple-shirted gunners on a twenty-second wooden platform, but you shall only have to deal with them if you jump up to it). Another swordsman will then jump down to the ground while throwing swords at you - and once you've thrown eight Batarangs at him to kill him one of the Joker's gas balloons will come floating towards you. Once you have thrown a ninth Batarang at it to destroy it, you will have to jump over an eighth hole for eighteen more extra seconds, and prepare for the final battle of the game.

The song you are hearing from the Yamaha YM-2151 will then change to the first stage's theme, as two more of the Joker's gas balloons come floating towards you; once you have thrown two more Batarangs at both of these to destroy them, you shall have to collect a seventh Batarang for fifteen more shots of it. You shall now come to the Joker for a third and final time, who will say Just the two of us, mano a mano...The pen, is truly mightier than the sword! from the MSM-6295 (and this time, he will throw more gas balloons at Batman). Once you have thrown ten more Batarangs at him to force him off the roof of the Cathedral, he shall scream from the MSM-6295, as he falls to the ground (and you shall receive a 2500-point bonus when he hits it).

The screen will then cut to a still of the Joker lying dead on the ground as his spirit cackles Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-HA!!! from the MSM-6295 and the text "THE END?" appears on the screen; the game's ending theme will then start to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151, as you receive 5000 points for every life you have remaining and the screen scrolls up to a still of Batman standing on the edge of the Cathedral's roof with the Bat-Symbol shining on the Moon. The game shall then go into high-score mode, as its high-score theme starts to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 - and your score will most likely be the highest on the cabinet to date, so you should enter your initials at the top of the table with pride. Once you have done so, the game will go back into attract mode (but if you inserted a second coin at the start, your score on the table will be halved); Batman will return to the arcades in Batman Forever: The Arcade Game in 1996 (which lets a second player join in as Batman's sidekick Robin, and it sees them fighting against Two-Face and the Riddler).
