Battle Arena Toshinden, known as Toh Shin Den (闘神伝?) in Japan, is a 3D weapon-based fighting game released on the PlayStation in 1995 developed by Tamsoft and published by Takara. This game was a launch title in North America and Europe and is often considered the first "true 3D" fighting game due to being able to move into the foreground and background. This game was praised for its innovative graphics and utilization of Gouraud shading and impressive transparency effects.

While Battle Arena Toshinden was a popular early title on the PlayStation and received numerous sequels, the franchise fell out of popularity. It was overshadowed by newer 3D fighters like Tekken and Soul Calibur.

The game was ported to DOS. There was also a 2D version of the game made for the Game Boy that adds characters from the sequel. An updated port released on the Saturn called Battle Arena Toshinden Remix introduced a Story mode with voice-acted cutscenes and a new character unique to this port.
