Prologue: The Vestibule is the first level in Bayonetta.

Verse 1[edit]

The prolouge opens up with a cutscene showing a man named Enzo, and a mysterious nun. The nun is reading a book, possibly the Bible, and Enzo is talking about this "Eggman the Destroyer". Turns out, this Eggman the Destroyer is the dead man in the coffin.

Shortly after, angels start decend from the sky to get this "Eggman". Enzo hides behind a gravestone, claiming the light is blinding him. The nun starts forming a circle in the sky. She drops the book, then jumps through the circle.

The angels' names are revealed to be "Affinity". After a few seconds, the nun viciously kills the angels by punching, kicking, and throwing them around. At this point, you have probably realized that this nun is the Umbra Witch we all know and love, Bayonetta.

After apologizing to Eggman, supposedly, the coffin bursts open revealing a standing man, facing the other way. He turns his head, with one red eye glowing, clearly visible through his sunglasses. Enzo reveals that this man's name is Rodin.

Meanwhile, Bayonetta keeps fighting angels, and the angels cut parts of Bayonetta's nun costume. She then throws the costume off, revealing her sexy body. Her hair covers her, making up the clothes she wears. Rodin throws her some pistols to help with the angel-hunting, and after a few minutes, the game finally kicks in.

If you're playing for the first time, there will be a short tutorial on the controls. If you're on the Wii U, there will also be an option to use Touch Controls. Use which method of attacking you prefer, and complete the tutorial.

After you kill the Affinity angels, angels with wings and heads will show up. There will be a short tutorial on how to defeat them quickly, and your angel hunting continues.

Verse 1 (continued)[edit]

Enzo is seen hiding behind a gravestone. An angel shows up and takes him away. You chase after the angel to get Enzo back. Go through the broken fence and fall down the cliff. Bayonetta smashes Enzo's car, and he gets mad. After that tiny cutscene, you get back to the action.

Finally, after beating the angels, the verse ends, and your score is displayed. If you didn't do so well, think about what you could do better next time. ;)

A cutscene plays where Enzo is upset about his car, yet it works perfectly, in Bayonetta's words, "Engine still purrs nicely." Most likely, you're probably watching the cutscene anyways, so I won't go in to it a whole lot.

Congratulations, you have beat the first half of Prologue: The Vestibule in Bayonetta.

Verse 2[edit]

After a little loading, a cutscene plays with Enzo driving his nearly-destroyed car, and Bayonetta in the passenger's seat. Enzo gets so mad that he literally has to summarize the last 20 years to her. Why? Who knows. Fuggetaboutit. Suddenly, an airplane almost crashes into the ground, and Bayonetta activates Witch Time to slow down everything. She hops onto the plane and a mysterious woman appears, fighting the angels on the plane.

After that's over with, the game starts back up. You have to execute 3 Torture Attacks in order to pass this verse. If you don't do it in time, you die. You can fill up the Magic Meter that's below the health bar (top left of the screen) by attacking angels. Torture Attacks can be activated by pressing the following commands. The commands vary depending on the version of Bayonetta that you have. X+A on Wii U, ▲+● (Triangle+Circle) on PS3, or Y+B on Xbox 360. After the Torture Attacks are finished, the final verse result screen of the Prologue is shown. Reflect on your result.

A cutscene with the woman and Bayonetta and lots of posing plays, and the woman flies away. Literally.

Bayonetta, Enzo, and Rodin meet at The Gates of Hell, Rodin's bar. He and Bayonetta talk about the Trinity of Worlds getting out of balance, and Bayonetta doesn't seem to care all that much. Rodin proceeds to get Bayonetta's new guns. They should be more durable this time, unlike those pistols. After equiping the guns, Bayonetta seems to be interested in the fact that Rodin said someone is calling out to her in a lost memory.

Bayonetta leaves, and Rodin puts her drink on Enzo's tab.

You have completed Prologue: The Vestibule. Finish the Angel Attack minigame and go on to Chapter I: The Angel's Metropolis.
