When you enter Black Isle, you will meet with Mr. De Castellac. He will give you an assignment to photograph the Pterolimax located within the Black Isle.

Entering the mine[edit]

Head up to the door standing on one of the switches tell Pey'j to stand on the other switch.

Entrance[edit]

Pey'j will tell you of the his jet boots. After the cutscene, stand on one of th emoving playforms, and tell Pey'j to use the boots. Head left and lower the bridge.

Head to the east, taking a photograph of the mas as you pass.

Photograph the Lycoperdon Fugiferus (the glowing blob in the ground), order Pey'j to use a super jump, and strike the blob towards the left TNT creats. You can throw them against the right crates for some Starkos and Boost.

Throw the orange blob against the TNT crate on the cart to lower a bridge. Fight the Crochax that bursts out of the floor. Push the cart to the end, and lower the ramp (by turning the gear in the corner) to the secondary shaft.

Secondary Shaft[edit]

This area is filled with hostile jellies. Clear them out before using the two-person switch at the end of the shaft.

You should jump into a small room. Kick the corner locker to receive cutting pliers required to open chain-link fences.

Return to the main mine. Cut down the grate, and purchase the PA1.

Shimmy across the ledge, and head to the top. Push the TNT cart closer to the ramp, and launch a Lycoperdon towards it.

Whent he ramp comes down, attack the Crochaxes.

Use the super jump to climb over the ledge. Open the door, and have Pey'j open the grate.

Main Shaft[edit]

After you jump the gap, you step on some eggs, which attract enemies. Fight them off, and turn the gear at the far end of the path. Climb up and go past the Anemonias. The anemonia sticking out of the floor requires a super action, and attack at the same time.

Pterolimax Gigantea[edit]

Walk along the gap, and take a photograph the Pterolimax pair in the distance. WHen you do, it will show more than just its head; it's a giant worm-like creature.

  • When the Pterolimax stands out one of the holes in the ground, have Pey'j use a super action, and attack it whenever possible. This stuns the Pterolimax when it would otherwise spin to defend against a melee attack or would spit projectiles at you.
  • Its secondary will attack by releasing a large cluster of Cyanea Urtica, three Crochaxes, or by trying to drop green goo above you (dodged by running.)
  • It is vulnerable to attack while it is stunned, or when it flies back into one of the ground holes.

It should be defeated with six volleys of attacks. Pey'j will inform you when it is running low on health.

After you kill the Pterolimax, photograph it again (if you haven't already; this is the only chance to photograph the monster) and collect the pearl. You will be brought back to the entrance of the mine and receive 3000 credits. You are instructed to head to the Akuda Bar and make contact with Peepers. You are given a passphrase to reach the IRIS network.

At the entrance of the mine, you can climb up the metal piping and collect another PA1 for an additional health unit.
