Once Vanguard's fuel meter has been refilled, for the second time in the game, it will start moving forward again through a hole in a third enormous rock face, and disappear from view; once it has come out the other side, it will for the fifth time be under your control (but you cannot make it go back through the hole it just come through given that a seventh invisible wall has been set up on the back side of it). Instead, you will have to continue moving forward down a ramp in front of you leading into the ocean, as you come to a Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you - and once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (it cannot be driven over because it will explode), you will have to choose either the western or eastern path. If you chose the western path, you will have to move to the left, then continue moving forward, as you come to another Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you; once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (again, it cannot be driven over), you will have to move to the right, then continue moving forward as you come to a third Jirai that's floating back and forth in front of you. Once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (once again, it cannot be driven over), three Killers will fly into view from the top of the screen, and drop bombs on you - and once you've fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as you come to a fourth Jirai that is moving back and forth in front of you. Once you've fired enough bullets at it to kill it (yet again, it cannot be driven over), four more Killers will fly into view from that left side of the screen, and drop bombs on you; once you've fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to move to the right, then continue moving forward, as you come to a fifth Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you. Once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (for a fifth time, it cannot be driven over) three more Killers will fly into view from the top, left side and bottom of the screen, and drop bombs on you - and once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, three more Killers will come flying into view from the top, left side and bottom of the screen, and drop bombs on you. Once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to a sixth Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you; once you've fired enough bullets at it to kill it (for a sixth time, it can't be driven over) three more Killers will fly into view from the top, left side and bottom of the screen, and drop bombs on you. Once you've fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, they will explode - however, if you chose the eastern path, you will have to move to the right, as you come up to different second Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you. Once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (for a different second time, it can't be driven over), three different Killers will fly into view from the top of the screen, and drop bombs on you; once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to a different third Jirai that is moving back and forth in front of you. Once you've fired enough bullets at it to kill it (for a different third time, it can't be driven over), four more different Killers will fly into view from the left side of the screen and drop bombs on you - and once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you'll have to move to the right, then continue moving forward, then move to the left, then continue moving forward again, as you come to a powerup box. Once you have fired a bullet at it to destroy it, it will leave an "Oil" powerup behind; once you have collected it, it will refill a quarter of Vanguard's fuel meter. Three more different Killers will then fly into view from the top, left side and bottom of the screen, and drop bombs on you - and once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, they will explode (you will now be at the arrival point of both paths).
You will now have to continue moving forward as you come to a seventh (or fourth) Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you; once you have fired enough bullets at it, to kill it (for seventh or different fourth time, it cannot be driven over), four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you. Once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as you come to an eighth (or fifth) Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you - and once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (for an eighth or different fifth time, it cannot be driven over), four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen, and drop bombs upon you. Once you've fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you'll have to move to the right, then continue moving forward, as you come to a ninth (or sixth) Jirai, that is floating back and forth in front of you; once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (for a ninth or different sixth time, it cannot be driven over), four Concordes will come flying into view from the top of the screen and drop bombs on you. Once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as you come to two more Jirai that are floating back and forth in front of you - and once you have fired enough bullets at both of these, to kill them (for a tenth or seventh time, they cannot be driven over), four more Concordes will come flying into view from the left and right sides of the screen and drop bombs upon you. Once you have fired an antiaircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as you come to a twelfth (or ninth) Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you; once you have fired enough bullets at it, to kill it (for an eleventh or eighth time, it can't be driven over), four more Concordes will come flying into view from the bottom of the screen, and drop bombs on you. Once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to a thirteenth (or tenth) Jirai that is moving back and forth in front of you - and once you have fired enough bullets at it to kill it (for a twelfth or ninth time, it cannot be driven over), you will have to continue moving forward as you come up to a fourteenth (or eleventh) Jirai that is floating back and forth in front of you. Once you've fired enough bullets at it, to kill it (for a thirteenth or tenth time, it can't be driven over), you will have to continue moving forward up another ramp leading out of the ocean as you come to a gate; once you've fired enough bullets at it to destroy it, you have to pass through it.
You will then have to continue moving forward, as you come to a Green Artillery that is firing bullets at you; once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, three more Killers will come flying into view from the top of the screen, and drop bombs on you. Once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you'll have to continue moving forward, as you come to an Ochre Tank and three Hyper Tanks that are shooting flames and firing bullets at you - and once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to an Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you. Once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, three more Killers will come flying into view from the left side of the screen and drop bombs on you; once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to two more Hyper Tanks that are firing bullets at you. Once you have fired a bullet at or driven over both of them to kill them three more Killers will fly into view from the top, left side and bottom of the screen and drop bombs on you - and once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as a Truck emerges from the wall on the left side of the screen and fires a bullet at you. Once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, four Hurricanes will come flying into view from the top of the screen and circle around Vanguard while dropping bombs on it; once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as you come to another powerup box. Once you've fired a bullet at this one to destroy it, it will leave another "Oil" powerup behind - and once you have collected it, it will refill a second quarter of Vanguard's fuel meter. You will then have to continue moving forward as you come up to three Super Tanks that are firing bullets at you; once you've fired a bullet at or driven over each of these, to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come up to a second Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you. Once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over it, to kill it, four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen, and drop bombs on you - and once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you'll have to move to the left, then continue moving forward as you come to four more Hyper Tanks and another Ochre Tank that are firing bullets and shooting flames at you. Once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over each of these to kill them, four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you; once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you'll have to move to the right as you come up to a third powerup box. Once you have fired a bullet at it to destroy it, it will leave a third "Oil" powerup behind - and once you have collected it, it will refill a third quarter of Vanguard's fuel meter. Four more Killers will then come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you; once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as you come to two more Green Artilleries that are firing bullets at you. Once you've fired a bullet at or driven over both of them to kill them, four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you - and once you've fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to three enormous flames emerging from the wall on the left side of the screen (which will kill Vanguard if they touch it). Once you have bypassed all three, you will come to two Enormous Tanks, that are firing bullets at you from their left sides; once you have fired enough bullets at both of them to kill them (as with the Jirai, they can't be driven over), four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you. Once you've fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to two more Hyper Tanks that're firing bullets at you; once you've fired a bullet at or driven over each of these to kill them, four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen, and drop bombs on you. Once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of these to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come to a third Ochre Artillery that's firing bullets at you - and once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, you will have to move to the left, then continue moving forward as you come to a fourth Ochre Artillery that's firing bullets at you. Once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen, and drop bombs on you; once you have fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward as you come up to two more Ochre Tanks and two more Hyper Tanks that are shooting flames and firing bullets at you. Once you've fired off enough bullets at or driven over each of them to kill them, three more Killers will come flying into view from the top of the screen, and drop bombs on you - and once you've fired one anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you will have to continue moving forward, as you come to four more Enormous Tanks that are firing bullets at you from their left sides. Once you have fired enough bullets at each of these to kill them (again, they cannot be driven over), four more Hurricanes will come flying into view from the top of the screen and circle around above Vanguard while dropping bombs on it; once you've fired one anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, you'll have to continue moving forward as you come up to fifth Ochre Tank that is shooting flames at you. Once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, four Gray Helis will come flying into view from the bottom of the screen - and once you've fired an anti-aircraft missile up at each of them to kill them, the fourth one will send a sixth powerup box falling to the ground. Once you've fired a bullet at this to destroy it, it will leave a "Shield" powerup behind; once you've collected this, Vanguard will (again) become invulnerable for a short period of time. You will then have to continue moving forward, as you come to two more powerup boxes - and once you have fired a bullet at both of these to destroy them, they will leave two more "Oil" powerups behind. Once you've collected them, they will refill half of Vanguard's fuel meter; you will then come up to a gate marked "T-3". Once Vanguard has gone through it, it will come out the other side in its torpedo ("Buster Cannon") shot incarnation for the third (or second if you chose the western path at the start of the third mission) time in the game (which means that it will not be able to fire its anti-aircraft missiles up at the air-based enemies for the time being, and given that you will come up to another gate marked "T-2" later in the mission, "the time being" is the rest of the mission).
You will then have to continue moving forward as you come to three more Ochre Tanks and a fourteenth Hyper Tank that are shooting flames and firing bullets at you; once you have fired enough bullet at or driven over each of them to kill them, four Boeings will fly into view from the top of the screen and drop bombs on you (but you cannot kill them). You will then have to move to the right, then continue moving forward, then move to the left, as you come to three more Ochre Artilleries that are firing bullets at you - and once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over each of these, to kill them, the effects of the "Shield" powerup will wear off as four more Boeings fly into view from the bottom of the screen and drop bombs on you (but again, you cannot kill them). You will then have to continue moving downward, as you come to a ninth Ochre Tank that is shooting flames at you; once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, four more Hurricanes will fly into view from top of the screen and circle around above Vanguard while dropping bombs on it (but you cannot kill them). You'll then have to move to the left, then continue moving forward, as you come up to two more Ochre Artilleries that are firing bullets at you - and once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over both of these to kill them, three more Concordes will come flying into view from the right side of the screen and drop bombs on you (but you cannot kill them off). You will now have to continue moving forward as you come to six more Hyper Tanks, a tenth Ochre Tank, and a tenth Ochre Artillery that are firing bullets and shooting flames at you; once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over each of these to kill them, three more Concordes will fly into view from that left side of the screen and drop bombs upon you (but again, you cannot kill them). You will now have to move to the right as you come to two more Ochre Artilleries that are firing bullets at you - and once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over them both to kill them, four more Concordes will fly into view from the bottom of the screen and drop bombs on you (but once again, you cannot kill them). You'll now have to continue moving downward, then move to the right, as you come up to twenty-first Hyper Tank that is firing bullets at you; once you've fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, four more Concordes will come flying into view from the top of the screen and drop bombs on you (but yet again, you can't kill them). You'll then have to continue moving forward, then move to the right as a Submarine emerges from the ocean (in a manner like that of the fish-spitting sea monsters from the first and fourth stages of Konami Industry Co.'s Koi no HotRock) and fires pellets at you - and once you have bypassed it, a Big Jet will come flying into view from the top of the screen (but you cannot kill it). You will then have to continue moving downward, then move to the right, then continue moving forward as you come up to three more Ochre Artilleries and an eleventh Ochre Tank that are firing bullets and shooting flames at you; once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over both of these to kill them, four more Hurricanes will fly into view from the top of the screen and circle around above Vanguard while dropping bombs on it (but once again, you cannot kill them). You will then have to move to the left, then continue moving downward, then move to the left again, then continue moving downward again, then move to the left again as you come to a fifteenth Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you - and once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, four more Gray Helis will come flying into view from the bottom of the screen (but again, you cannot kill them). You will then have to continue moving forward, then move to the right, then continue moving forward again, as you come to four more Ochre Artilleries that are firing bullets at you; once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over each of them to kill them, four more Hurricanes will fly up into view from the top of the screen and circle around above Vanguard while dropping bombs on it (but yet again, you cannot kill them). You will then come to another gate, that is marked "T-2" - and once Vanguard has gone through it, it will come out in its 4-way ("Jason") shot incarnation for a third (or second if you chose the eastern path at the start of the third mission) time.
You will then have to move to the left, then continue moving forward before choosing the second western, northern, or second eastern path; if you chose the second western path, you will have to move to the left, and then continue moving forward, as you come to a fourth Green Artillery that is firing bullets at you. Once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, three more Killers will fly into view from the top of the screen and drop bombs on you (but you can't kill them off) - and you'll then have to move to the left, then continue moving forward, then move to the left again, then continue moving forward again as you come to a twenty-second Hyper Tank and a twelfth Ochre Tank that are firing bullets and shooting flames at you. Once you've fired a bullet at or driven over both of them to kill them, four more Killers will fly into view from the left side of the screen, and drop bombs on you (but again, you can't kill them); you will then have to move to the left as you come to a seventh powerup box. Once you have fired a bullet at it to destroy it, it will leave a sixth "Oil" powerup behind - and once you have collected it, it will refill a fourth quarter of Vanguard's fuelmeter. Four Ivory Helis will then come flying into view from all four sides of the screen, and circle around above Vanguard (but you cannot kill them); you will then have to continue moving forward, then move to the right, as you come to a Bomb Cannon that is firing pellets at you. Once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, you will have to continue moving forward, then move to the right, as you come to a twentieth Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you - and once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, four more Gray Helis will fly into view from the top of the screen (but again, you cannot kill them off). You will then have to continue moving downward, then move to the right, then continue moving downward again, then move to the right again, then continue moving forward, as a Jirai Car emerges from the ground, and starts moving towards you (you will receive 10000 points if it touches Vanguard and kills it, but you will obviously lose a life in the process); once you've gone round it, you will come up to two more Ochre Artilleries, that are firing bullets at you. Once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over both of them to kill them, four more Ivory Helis will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and circle around above Vanguard (but again, you cannot kill these) - and you now have to move to the right, then continue moving downward, then move to the right again, then continue moving forward, as you come to a twenty-third Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you. Once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, four more Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you (but once again, you can't kill these); you will then have to move to the right, then continue moving downward, then move to the right again, then continue moving forward as you come up to a twenty-fourth Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you. Once you've fired enough bullets at it or driven over it to kill it, four more Ivory Helis will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and circle around above Vanguard (but once again, you can't kill them) - and you will then have to continue moving back downward, then move to the right, then continue moving downward again as you come up to a thirteenth Ochre Tank that's shooting flames at you; once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, three more Killers will come flying into view from the top of the screen and drop bombs on you (but yet again, you can't kill them). You then have to move to the left, then continue moving downward, then move to the right, then continue moving downward again, then move on to the left again, then continue moving downwards for a third time, then move on to the left for a third time, then continue moving downward for a fourth time, then move to the right again, then continue moving forward, then move to the right for a third time, and then continue moving downward for a fifth time, as you come up to a twenty-fifth Ochre Artillery and a fourteenth Ochre Tank that are firing bullets and shooting flames at you - and once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over both of them to kill them, four more Ivory Helis will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and circle around above Vanguard (but yet again, you can't kill them). You will then have to continue moving downward, as you come up to an eighth powerup box; once you have fired a bullet at this one to destroy it, it will leave a seventh "Oil" powerup behind. Once you have collected this, it will refill a fifth quarter of Vanguard's fuel meter - and you'll then have to continue moving forward, then move to the right, then continue moving forwards again as two more Jirai Cars emerge from the ground and start moving towards you (again, you'll receive 10000 points if one of them touches Vanguard and kills it, but you will still obviously lose a life in the process). Once you have gone around both of these, four more Killers will fly into view from the left side of the screen and drop bombs on you (but for a fifth time, you can't kill these); you will then have to move to the right, then continue moving forward, then move to the left as you come to another Bomb Cannon that's firing pellets at you. Once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, four more Ivory Helis will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and circle around above Vanguard (but for a fifth time, you can't kill them) - and you will then have to choose either the third western or third eastern path. If you chose the third western path, you will have to move to the left, then continue moving forward; however, if you chose the third eastern path, you will have to move to the right as you come up to a twenty-third Hyper Tank that's firing bullets at you. Once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, you will have to continue moving forward as you come up to a third Bomb Cannon that is firing pellets at you - and once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, four more Killers will fly into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you (but for a sixth time, you cannot kill them). You'll then have to continue moving forward, as you come up to a twenty-sixth Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you; once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, four more Ivory Helis will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen, and circle round above Vanguard (but for a fifth time, you cannot kill them). You will now have to move to the left, then continue moving forward, as you come to a twenty-seventh Ochre Artillery, that is firing bullets at you - and once you have fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, three more Killers will fly into view from the top of the screen and drop bombs on you (but for a seventh time, you cannot kill them). You will then have to move to the left, then continue moving forward as you come to the text "STOP" on the ground next to Maiheriko's third (and final) launching pad; you will then receive 10 bonus points for every litre of fuel Vanguard has remaining as its fuel meter is emptied for what's now the third time in the game.
However, if you chose the northern path, you'll have to move forward as you come to a different twentieth Ochre Artillery that is firing bullets at you; once you've fired enough bullets at or driven over it to kill it, three more different Killers will fly into view from the top of the screen and drop bombs on you (but for a different first time, you cannot kill them). You will then come up to a different seventh powerup box - and once you have fired a bullet at it to destroy it, it will leave a different sixth "Oil" powerup behind. Once you have collected it, it will refill a (different) fourth quarter of Vanguard's fuel meter; four more different Killers will then come flying into view from the left side of the screen and drop bombs on you (but for a different second time, you can't kill them). You'll then have to move to the right, then continue moving forward, as you come up to different first Bomb Cannon that is firing pellets at you - and once you have fired a bullet at or driven over it to kill it, four more different Killers will come flying into view from all four sides of the screen and drop bombs on you (but for a different third time, you cannot kill these). You will then have to move to the left, and continue moving forward, to discover that the northern path is a dead end; this means that you will have to move back downward, move back to the right, continue moving back downward again, move back to the left, and continue moving back downward for a third time. And if you chose the second eastern path, you will have to move to the right, then continue moving forward, then move to the right again to discover that the second eastern path is also a dead end - which means that you will have to move back to the left, then move back downward, then move back to the left again. That second western path is the only way you can get to the end of this mission.
