Upon loading, a cinematic will begin. As you reach the peak of the mountain, you find Steele atop a pedestal and two guards who have you at gun point. Steele activates the Vault Key fragments, which fuse together before it floats downwards into the pedestal. Rumbling occurs, and then rubble from the area floats up to form an arch - this is the icon that you've seen flash on screen when the game is saving. The arch fills with glowing purple energy.

Steele begins to make commands before she is promptly speared from behind by a large red tentacle. A giant beast begins to make its way out of the portal that has formed within the arch. The two guards are quickly killed, and then control resumes.

Destroy the Destroyer[edit]

The Destroy looms before you. It is a stationary enemy, which makes it much easier than the enemies that approach you. You should be between levels 30 and 40 when you fight this boss. This boss has about 430,000 health (an estimation).

Attacks
  • Laser beam: the eye charges up purple energy before releasing a continuous beam that tracks you (like the Sera Guardian's white beam). This will kill you quickly if you don't avoid it.
  • Crystal missiles: randomly throughout the fight The Destroyer will shoot off a volley of crystal-like objects that are also purple like the energy of the vault. These will explode when they hit the ground, like the Arch Guardian's volley. If one hits you directly, it will cloud your vision for a bit before exploding.
  • Tentacles strike: if you get too close, you will take melee damage. Touching The Destroyer will not hurt you.
Tips
  • You can avoid taking damage and continuously attack The Destroyer by hiding behind his large purple tentacle on the left side of the map. There is a large stone here, and if you are behind it his laser and most of the crystal missiles will not be able to strike. However, you will not be able to score critical hits from this position.

Berserker[edit]

Run to the safe spot on the left side behind the tentacle. Continuously let loose your berserk and attack the tentacle. When it is on cooldown, unload your most efficient weapon (damage over time rather than power alone; an SMG or Rifle will probably be best).

There is a glitch when using Berserk. If you run up to The Destroyer's "face" and attack him, you may get stuck under one of the red tentacles. If this occurs, you will either have to kill him from that position, or die. The Destroyer may not be able to hit you at all from this position.

Side quests[edit]

Scavenger: Machine Gun[edit]

After the credits roll, Claptrap will tell you to go to The Middle of Nowhere Bounty Board to pick up this quest. Grab the quest, then go to the Salt Flats.

Get a car, drive to the machine in the center of the map, and exit the vehicle on the east side (by the check point). There will be Crimson Lance enemies here, so clear out the area before looking for parts.

Machine Gun parts
  1. Body?: as you enter the gate from the check point, turn right. Go up the short ramp to look back at the check point. It should be resting against the side.
  2. Magazine: a small brown box. This is located on top of a green hut. As you enter the gate from the check point, turn right (go to the back, then go around the first set of objects). If you are having trouble finding it, jump up on some nearby objects to look for it.
  3. Stock: as you enter the gate from the check point, turn left. It rests on top of one of those large rectangular brown crates (the ones that are sometimes stacked, and are twice as tall as you).
  4. Barrel: when you enter the gate from the check point, turn slightly right. This is sitting on top of a large cylindrical object. You will have to jump on top of a bunch of objects to reach it.
