There are a few different versions of calculations in Brain Age. As you unlock newer versions, they become increasingly harder.
Calculations x20[edit]
This mode is found in both Training and during your Brain Age check. You will encounter 20 different calculations that require basic knowledge of arithmetic to solve. You will see addition, subtraction, and multiplication calculations. The goal is to solve all calculations as fast as possible, without making any mistakes. Each mistake will add an additional 5 seconds to your score. The following tips may help:
- Anything multiplied by 0 is equal to 0.
- A number multiplied by 1 is equal to that number.
- Try looking ahead. Solve the next problem while you are writing the current answer into the box.
- Try to write clearly and with large numbers.
- It is better to slow down a bit if it means you'll get the correct answer.
Calculations x100[edit]
Calculations x100 is found in Training. This mode is very similar to Calculations x20, though with more problems. There are now 100 arithmetic problems. Again, solve these calculations as quickly as possible. Incorrect answers will cost you 5 seconds. Please note the tips in the Calculations x20 section as well as the following:
- Try and maintain your concentration. Don't let your handwriting slip.
Hard Mode[edit]
The Hard mode version of calculations x100 is unlocked when you have 11 stamps on your calendar. Hard mode includes division calculations as well as the normal addition, subtraction, and multiplication. Keep in mind the tips from before.
Voice Calculation[edit]
Voice calculation, found during Training, is very similar to the previous modes. This mode is unlocked after you achieve 20 stamps on your calendar. Voice calculation will put you up to 50 arithmetic problems that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. You must now speak the answer instead of writing it, adding a new level of difficulty. Remember the tips from before as well as the following:
- Speak very clearly so that the game will recognize the number.
- Every answer will be only one digit, due to constraints in voice recognition.
Calculations x30[edit]
Calculations x30 is found in download play. This mode is similar to Calculation x20, except that there are 10 more problems and you race against up to 15 other players. Instead of penalizing you 5 seconds for every wrong answer, the game will just force you to find the correct answer.
- Anything multiplied by 0 is equal to 0.
- A number multiplied by 1 is equal to that number.
- Try looking ahead. Solve the next problem while you are writing the current answer into the box.
- Try to write clearly and with large numbers.
- Because you don't get penalized, don't slow down. If you make a mistake you will be able to write it in again. Slow down only if you must.
