Operation Market[edit]

Order your team up to this wall and ambush the Germans.
Your introduction to suppress and flank. Remember it well.

Your overall objective is the clear the landing zones for the gliders. You also have to find Nick, of the Dutch resistance. He has a tiny role in this chapter, but he'll be back. Once again you will be prompted if you wish to continue the tutorial. Follow the directions if you do, otherwise head forward to meet Nick. After a brief scene, order your MG team up to the wall and give them the assault command. They're close enough to the Germans to lob a grenade at their position, so you might get lucky and get both in one go. Keep the MG team shooting at the Germans down the road while you flank behind the wall to the right. Kill the first group with a grenade (shooting them is tricky), then go around the small building and shoot the second group. Once done, order your MG team to fall in and go through the small opening towards the windmill.

More soon to be ex-Germans.

Go up into the windmill in order to unlock the recon report. Order your MG team into the wall at the bottom of your view when the Germans aren't facing it. Spring your ambush and head out of the windmill. Go to the right of the shack and take cover behind the low wall. Lob a grenade at the Germans behind the sandbags. Keep the Germans behind the hay bales suppressed and flank them inside the barn to the left. Order your MG team to take cover behind the wall just outside the opposite door on the barn. Take Baker quickly over the wall up to the next wall on the left and dispatch the Germans on that side. Once you get close enough to the house, the remaining team and the MG team in the upper window will retreat inside the house. You're going to have to go in with Baker and clear them out. Switch to the Thompson and take cover outside the front door. If a German team made it inside, they'll be hiding behind the table just inside the front door. Wipe them out with the Thompson (remember, light cover can be destroyed) and then take the door on your left and head upstairs. Take cover on the doorway to the second upstairs room and take out the German standing inside. There will also be one in the bathroom at the far end. Wait for him to poke his head out and then pop him. When you head back downstairs, don't go blindly back out into the main room. Take cover next to the door and kill the two newcomers waiting to ambush you on your return.

Target practice.
They'll never know what hit them.

Once outside you'll be introduced to counter attacks. This one will be very easy as there is an MG-42 with unlimited ammo placed conveniently outside. Keep shooting Germans until it tells you that the objective is complete. Head to the gate on the other side of the field. After a short scene, you will be given control of an assault team, and the game will give you a brief tutorial on how to switch between teams. Once this is over, it's time to setup another ambush. Order your teams into position and wait until the Germans are a good ways down the road before ordering both teams to open fire. Move Baker up the right side and behind the small building to flank the German positions. You should have a good vantage point to pick the Germans off with your M1. Head through the gate once you've mopped them up.

Order your teams to open fire and they'll quickly mop this group up.
Head to the right through this shack.

This is the last section of the map. You'll be rescuing a crashed glider from a group of Germans. Order your teams into cover on either side of the gate and begin your ambush when ready. Make sure you order your teams to fire on each group attacking the glider. Once they're dispatched, several more German groups will enter the area. This is your first mildly tricky engagement, as cover is sparse on the right side, and non-existent on the left. Move up through the small shack on the right and order your MG team into cover behind the low wall. Take Baker and your assault team to the wall on the far right. Suppress what you can with the MG and flank with the assault team up to the hay bales beyond the glider. Use the assault team to suppress anything Baker can't get to and finish off the remaining German positions by moving between hay bales. Once done, head up to the gate where the Jeeps are waiting.

Notes[edit]

Hay. Surprisingly bullet-proof.

As you may have noticed by this point, weapon accuracy isn't an exact science, and is affected by how well covered your enemy is. It is possible to get headshots with Baker (there's even a cool slow-mo), but when you make them and when you don't seems to depend on the alignment of the planets. When in doubt, keep shooting.

You may also have noticed the recurring theme of "gates." Most games use a form of this for moving from one level to the next, but BiA takes the concept quite literally. If you ever can't find your way out, look for a gate.

As noted in one of the above images, you should be repeating the phrase "suppress and flank," as this is what the majority of the gameplay is based on. Even at times when the only unit you have is Baker, suppressing an enemy in order to change position is still a tactic you will employ.
